What about an after school special? They could do an episode about keeping quiet after you're molested by an elder so that you don't bring reproach on Jehovah's name. That would be a great practical lesson for the youngsters.

How many of the GB helpers are "anointed"?
by Nostromo inaccording to this list there are 29 helpers at the moment: https://jwleaks.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/jehovahs-witnesses-governing-body-committees.jpg.
i wonder how many of these are "anointed"?
all the current seven gb members were helpers first and then appointed to be gb members.

yeah, since it's all made up anyway, it wouldn't be difficult for them to convince someone they wanted on the GB that they were annointed all of a sudden, sorta like what happened with Ed Dunlap in the CoC books.
I doubt that they'd actually announce this as new-light though, since it only affects the handful that are groomed as the next GB members. It wouldn't be unlike the WTS to have semi-secret doctrine at higher levels.

WTF! They had a certain day of the month where they were instructed to only try to start bible studies? I never heard about that. LOL How controlling can they get before people wake the f up.
Yup, the first saturday of every month we were told to go out and ask people if they want a free home bible study* instead of the normal presentation. I don't know a single person that actually did it, though. Everyone but maybe a few suck-ups, elders and pioneers just offered the magazines like usual.
*study will not primarily use the bible, and the cost is exorbitant, it's just not an up-front cost.

Be Honest: Were You Ever Jealous When Someone Was Appointed a Pioneer, MS or Elder?
by minimus ini knew some that were very happy for you and others, along with their families, that were envious of someone's advancement.. .
.

I never had any interest in being an MS. My reaction was always irritation at the prospect of being pushed into it, knowing that they'd use the newly appointed kid to try to guilt me into "reaching out." Especially when the noob was younger than me, which has almost always been the case for the past 8 years or so.

How to tell how effective JW.TV will be
by bohm inhere is a simple and obvious way to tell how effective jw.tv is going to be:.
in the past, how effective has religious tv been for you?
has watching religious tv made by moonies, evangelists, mormons or scientologists made you seriously reflect on spirituality?

A quote from the WT that someone posted in another tv.jw.org thread seems applicable:
*** w86 11/15 p. 21 Insight on the News ***
TV Evangelism—God’s Way?
If Jesus Christ were on earth today, asserted TV evangelist Jim Bakker, “he’d have to be on TV.” Why television? Because, according to Bakker, “that would be the only way he could reach the people he loves.” Like Bakker, an increasing number of fundamentalist preachers in the United States feel that television is the best medium for spreading the Word of God. Yet, a 1984 study showed that, for the most part, TV evangelists “reinforce people already committed to evangelical religion.”
Just as the WT itself has said, their TV evangelism will serve only to reinforce their hold on current JWs. It will not bolster the ranks, nor will it even stem the tide of decline in the 1st world (which is obviously their target market).

Visitors to JW.org are just a mouse click away from apostate websites
by truthseeker inwhile the jw community revels in the latest changes coming down from mother, never forget that the society are doing our job for us.. in recent years, the society's admonition was to stay off the internet and if you absolutely have to use it, only use the official website.. now the literature has q-codes on the back that direct you to jw.org and you can download their publications from the web, and with the advent of jw tv, visitors who go to the society's website are only a mouse click away from jwfacts and jwn.. not to mention the heavy impact that social media, especially facebook, is having on the society as a whole with jw apologists trying to defend their faith against former witnesses.. so don't be discouraged by the new and improved jw.org.
they are doing our job for us and getting members to go on the web.. .

So I'm going through a really difficult time right now.
by scaredtospeak ini was publicly reproved last year and the elders have taken their sweet time in reinstating my "privileges".
it's been six months and i can't answer at the meetings or participate in the theocratic ministry school.
in all honesty- i don't care about the privileges.

Remember that you're not alone. There are thousands out there going though the exact same struggle that you are. That's always a comforting thought.
Also, I consider you to be quite lucky. You've got things figured out at such a young age that it will be much easier for you to break free of the cult and start a life than it has been for many here. I'm not so bad off myself, but I would give anything to have known TTATT when I was your age. I know "it could be worse" is never that comforting, but better to deal with a few agonizing years now than have to deal with agonizing decades due to a spouse and children keeping you stuck in the cult.
When dealing with your parents and the elders, always remain calm. If you get angry, they've won (at least in their minds). When they come at you in defense of the cult, try to take pity on them because they don't know the truth and you do. They're even more backed into a corner than you are. You have an objective mind, and that's a threat to their world view so they'll come after you, but you can use your objectivity to beat them. You have a way out (even if it's a few years off) while they may be mentally imprisoned in the cult for the rest of their lives.
Stay strong, it'll get better. We're all rooting for you!

I think the whole web pressence is mainly to get the 1st world members to think that the "whole inhabitted earth" prophecy has been fullfilled and armageddon must be imminent. Just this sunday one of the old-timers in my congregation made some comment about the website helping to fullfill that prophecy.
If they get a few new members in the process, they'll take it. by and large, though, non-jws will ignore the website just like non-mormons and non-scientologists ignore their websites.

Has anyone else heard this about the GB??
by FeelingFree inok so me and my husband were talking to his mum again about why we are no longer going to meetings and got into another pointless discussion where she feels he needs to talk to an elder about his issue's blah, blah, blah... round and round it went...... the thing i wanted to ask was if anybody had heard that there wont be any gb after these one's die??
this is something she mentioned today and we have never heard of this ever.
so it means no more will be appointed and they will just die off!

Maybe she's missunderstanding the overlapping generations BS (who can blame her?)
The GB isn't going anywhere unless there's another rutherford-esque coup.

How revolutionary of JWs to stress the value of reading to their children. The rest of the world should seek to emulate them in the education of the young.
Just so long as the education stops once they can read the watchtower (i.e. 5th grade level)
