Welcome. I suspect you are but the first of many to wind up here in the coming weeks because of that reprehensible fool, AMIII.

My Breaking Point -- 11/9/14
by game1914over ini have enjoyed reading your comments during the past four years.
deep down inside, i have always been agnostic.
the first few chapters in genesis are contradictory and differing.. no one has ever been able to answer my question: "why was satan ever created?".

No mention of 100 years of kingdom rule at zone meeting
by kneehighmiah ini expected the streaming of such a large meeting to focus on 100 years of kingdom rule.
not a single mention.
instead more drivel about insignificant things like yoga pants.

I hadn't thought about this point - I was too bewildered by my disgust at the reprehensible way these men took advantage of the occasion to do nothing but condenm people for minor things. Could it be we've already entered the "don't talk about 1914" phase? Ignore it until they're ready for the run-up to 2034 and eventual disapointment?

And frankly, I have asked sister after sister: "what do you think of this? Do you find that appealing, attractive? You know, I'm just curious, 'cause I'm not a woman." And you know what? I haven't met one yet that thought they look good.
As if a sister is just going to ask him to DF her because they're attracted to a non-MS in tight pants.

Governing Body sick of waiting! They want the paradise they were promised!
by donuthole inthis post is going to suggest that the governing body remains, as ray franz wrote, "captives of a concept".
like every jehovah's witness they were raised with the belief that the the paradise would be here by now.
unlike others, they are in a position to do something about.. why wait to rule over the earth?

Yep, it's almost as if they're actively trying to become the fulfillment of Luke 12:45-46 - The FDS that got tired of waiting and started to beat the master's servants. Saturday was the beating that came about because they're tired of waiting.

My Yoke is Kindly and My load is Light! What did this scripture mean to you as a JW?
by BU2B injesus said that "my yoke is kindly and my load is light" what did this scripture mean to you when you were mentally in?
did you feel the jw load was kindly and light?
if not, what was the point in him uttering those words?

That scripture always seemed to be used in a way that made you doubt your own feelings (sorta in the same way as the "heart is desperate" scripture). No one but maybe a few of the super-indoctrinated, or those who have their meal ticket from the WTS can possibly agree that the JW load is light. That scripture is then trotted out to tell you that your load is light, and you'll accept it because it's in the bible and it just starts to cause you to doubt your motivations and thoughts.
Along the same lines was the "yet your commandments are not burdensome" scripture that they love to use. "All these rules are for our own good!" they say. meanwhile everyone feels loaded down and burdened by everything, so they think that there's something about themselves that they need to fix. Surely they're not doing enough!

Night and Day from GB to Writing committee? Someone explain?
by thedepressedsoul inim sure by now most of you are familiar with anthony morris talk from this weekend.
im even seeing memes posted all over instagram from jw mocking it.. here is my question, why are the things written so different from how the gb members, like anthony morris are?
i know the gb dont actually write the stuff but i was under the impression that they come up with the spiritual light pass if off to the writing committee and they put it in the publications.

To be fair, I don't think the williams sisters were ever baptized so there's not much they can do about that.

Theory
by Theredeemer insomeone mentioned this in a post and i feel the need to make this theory its own thread.. i think that this past zone visit was intended to be that weird!
i think it was a test of faith in this regard, are you loyal enough to ignore the crazyness of all that was stated?
what if they are setting up for radical changes and are testing the waters to see if this current group of jdubs are going to readily drink the kool aid?.

Everyone keeps looking for some big method to the madness or plan or scheme. I think they are just a bunch of dumbasses doing dumbass things and there are nearly 8 million people who are buying into the stupidity.
I think you're right. It's so difficult to believe that you've been fooled so completely for so long by a group of egomaniacal idiots that it's easy to look for paterns of behavior that might imply that there's something grander at work.

Yep, as Vidiot has said a few times (paraphrasing), they're making every effort to give the appearance of being a mainstream religion while hardening their stance on everything that makes them a damaging, represive cult.

My biggest gripe with the bible!
by thedepressedsoul inthis book can literally be used to fit whatever agenda you have!
you can pull a scripture from here or there and apply it to what you want to do or what your agenda is.
i can't believe i never noticed how bad this was within jw.
-
OneEyedJoe
Yup. You'd think if god wrote it, he would've made it a little easier to interpret such that there wouldn't be 40k different denominations, each with their own doctrine.

That's it exactly. This is very common with cults, they have an external doctrine/image and an internal "members-only" doctrine.
If you ask a scientologist what it's all about, they'll say something about how it opens you up to your potential and helps you to understand your spirit etc. etc. Once you get in deep enough is when all the insane stuff about aliens and Xenu starts.
Same thing with the Mormons. When they come to your door they won't tell you that they all expect to be made into gods as a reward for their faith.
