Sporece - AFAIK they still carry cards. I know I did until a couple months ago, and my wife still does. They're more complicated these days (not so much a card as a folded up form) but they're definitely prepared in case they get the oppurtunity to die for the cult.

Elders answer questions about the changes of the blood ban
by opusdei1972 insome days ago two elders visited my sister because she has not been attending the meetings more than one year.
this time she prepared notes containing watchtower past teachings about the blood ban so as to ask them for those changes, and it seems that the elders were also prepared for her past questions.
for instance she showed them that "albumin" was considered "under scriptural ban" in 1956 (read the page 20 of awake, september 8).

How long have you known TTATT and continued to participate?
by LostGeneration ini continue to be stunned by posters reporting on the convention, lamenting the convention, complaining about going in serve-us and meetings, and yet continuing to participate in these activities.. a simple question.
how long have you done these things, fully knowing it is absolute bullshit?.
i couldn't handle it for more than six months before i basically outed myself.

I was pretty upset when I first realized the true extent of the lies. It definitely still irritates me to go to meetings, but mostly because they're soooo boring. I do drin before them, if I can do it without too much disapproval from my wife...definitely makes it a bit more bearable. If not for my wife, I'd never have gone back after reading jwfacts. If I were on my own, being shunned by my family would've been the more pleasant option, but I want to try to get my wife on board, and hopefully we can fade in a way that will leave her family relationships mostly intact, because that's huge for her.

i know this topic has been discussed over and over again, but it's just so fun to complain about it.

Local Kingdom Hall Speakers To Be Replaced By Governing Body Video Feeds.
by donuthole inso we've seen as the current gb is getting more facetime in an effort to reach the hearts and minds of the rank and file.
this took a leap with video feeds at an open annual meeting.
the international conventions are taking this a step farther.. do you think that local speakers at kingdom halls could ever be replaced by headquarter approved video feeds?.

It wouldn't be surprising if they started doing this. There's been a huge push to get KHs equiped with projectors and screens, and it seems like a waste if they're only going to use it once a year for the annual meeting.

one reason for the dumbing down of the org
by Magnum ina lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

Now the GB is training JW's to use iPads to Witness using JW.ORG, which is basically a return to the phonograph/testimony card form of Witnessing during Rutheford's day.
It's interesting that you say that (I had the same thought myself when it was demo'd from the stage) because at the recent convention, one speaker explicitly said "This is not a return to the phonograph, only with updated technology, rather ..." I don't fully remember how he tried to spin it, but I think the jist was that this is a huge technological advancement or whatever. Whatever it was, he in no way refuted the fact that this is, indeed, a return to the phonograph, just with modern technology.

The INTJ Personality Type, (and those close to it)
by done4good ini am compelled to write a bit about this at this late hour here in the us, because it is keeping me up.. the recent four year old thread on the briggs myers personality type test that was dug up, produced an interesting finding.
many here, (at least tested informally for), the intj personality type.
intjs also do not understand irrational behavior particularly well at all.. why does this matter?

It sounds like your experience vouches for the accurracy of the online tests. I (similarly) took the real as a part of a work thing and came back INTJ (and the I and T were both like 99%). All the online tests I've taken have given me very similar results, the only pattern I've noticed is that the ones with more questions tend to be closer to the official test's results.
For what it's worth, I've never actually met anyone who's taken an online or otherwise abbreviated MB test and come out an INTJ. The only INTJs I run across are always on forums, where they seem to be unusually common.

"I'm better than you.."
by startingover13 ini've reached out and contacted a few of my past friends.
some are still cool as ice, while others have taken on a "i'm better than you" type of attitude.
the first question is usually about becoming a servant, pioneering, or some other facet of service.

In my experience, the more I've learned the more I've realized that I don't know anything. Since JWs have such an anti-education stance, it doesn't surprise me when I see them act like they know everything.

Atlanta International Conv. Invite July 2014
by Iown Mylife intwo copies of this invitation were pinned to the corkboard at the post office this morning: a world government, why do we need one, is it possible, who is qualified to rule?.
i know this invitation hand-out has been discussed but i missed this part - that wt obviously is saying they are qualified to rule the world.
i can't take it.

DJS - I think for the ICs, there's a couple days after where they do tours of the host city and other vacationy type stuff for the international folks.

It's been about 3 months for me now...though I've long known that something was wrong, and probably would've left 7 years ago if not for getting married. I suspect i'll end up toughing it out for another year or two in an attempt to get my wife out...after that I'll probably give up and stop going on my own if I can't reach her.

"It's not religious..." Wait... What???
by dynamiterose77 inmy friend, mike works as a massage therapist, and there is a woman at the shop that is super-jw-woman and is constantly hounding him with things.. today, he's messaging me and he tells me that she was trying to push a brochure or something on him.
he said he'd really rather not read a religious pamphlet.. so... she says, "it's not religious... it's from god.".
isn't that kinda what religious means?

JK - I know people who still say "we're not here to convert you" at the door. When I was in, that always "stumbled" me.
This is the first time I've heard of someone claiming that the leaflets aren't religious, though. This sort of thing always reminds me of Steve Hassan's tale of being recruited into the moonies, where some students told him it wasn't a religious movement, just a bunch of students getting together to talk about government or whatever. I wait for the day when they explicitly tell the R/F to deny that it's religious...
