How do you feel about exJW's who resist our efforts to effect change?
by nicolaou ini've met a few.
i'm not talking about the jw who, whether df'd or not, falls off the radar and just gets on with living a normal life - good luck to them and may there be many more!.
i mean the former jehovah's witness who is now enjoying all the benefits of a cult free life thanks to the efforts of many bloggers, posters and activists, but is critical of the efforts of someone close them to free more jws.

Looking Back in Retrospect to 1995 ...
by LoveUniHateExams ini very much enjoyed reading through titch's thread: 'looking back in retrospect to 1975 ...' and all the comments from posters that lived through that event and remembered it.. i was born in 1979, so had nothing to offer for that thread.. however, i do remember very clearly living through 1995 (the end of the 1914 generation) and remember how it affected me and my view of the wts.
up until oct/nov 1995, i genuinely believed the society to be god's one true earthly organisation.
the watchtower presenting the new meaning of generation seriously shook my faith in the wts and, i suppose, started me on my journey to ttatt.

My sentiments exactly. Two elders sat on my couch and I asked them to explain it to me and they both said they didn't understand it. I told them it wasn't scriptural and they said they would just "wait on Jehovah."OTWO: That ended the very moment it was breezed over in the Kingdom Hall like it was just another change. I didn't abandon doing what was expected of me. I didn't say anything to anybody about my new freedom to question things and think for myself, but I was not the same lemming willing to run right off the cliff if the other members did so.

This just happened within last 15 mins......
by Lied2NoMore ini saw an instagram post showing a short clip of a talk being given in one of our southern states.
the talk clip showed speaker making the statement, "jehovah doesn't want anyone to know satans real name, jehovah hates satan so much, he doesn't even want his name mentioned" .
i posted in comments: matt 5:44-48 with the full scripture rendered from niv.

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...
by titch ingreetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

This is a great thread... nice to hear of others who went through the same experiences I did! Every since I could remember my parents continually frightened me with the big A. Also told everyone they met that I was going to be a bethel-lite some day. I was baptized @ 16 in "73 and graduated from HS in '75 and remember well the fanaticism in the congs at the time. To this day my parents deny that any of this even happened and parrot what they have been indoctrinated with about how some jdubs were "reading between the lines, what wasn't there." My dad last year was going around saying "this may be the last memorial" just like the KM and when I called him on it this year he just laughed it off. When I was a freshman in HS my parents sold everything and we moved to where the need was great... it lasted 18 months and we had to move back... all because of the '75 propaganda which they now deny. My aversion towards bethel has always stuck with me and I have never gone to visit though the opportunity has presented itself many times. The year I stepped aside as PO I was required to go back there for schooling in November... not happening! -

CONFUSION about what MOVIES REALLY ARE . . .
by TerryWalstrom inconfusion about what movies really are.
.. the word 'movies' is a vernacular reference which popped up pretty early in the history of filmmaking.
before movies moved they were still photographs.. but those still photographs began moving, didn't they?

The incredibly white NAACP leader
by Simon inthis is a bizarre story.. there is a woman who is the local leader of the naacp who is obviously trying to mislead people into believing she is black who is actually white.
very white.. she obviously gets a tan regularly but looks more orange.
yes, orange really is the new black!.

Lying is wrong and immoral... that is one of the biggest reasons I ended up on this site... in search of truth.
However this does bring up an interesting question.
If I can accept someone who's sexual orientation is different from their birth sex and they choose to go with the former than can I accept a person who's racial orientation is different from their birth race and they also choose to go with the former? Hmmmmm.....
On a side note, I have a friend who is native Hawaiian and now that she is older she has a skin or pigment condition that changed her to white, and I mean white with no visible trace of her previous darker skin.
P. S. Anybody remember the book "Watermelon Man?"

Do you consider this site Godly or Ungodly
by Truthexplorer inover the years, i have seen a change in heart with the country i grew up in and the general view of what they perceive as how everyone should view things in relation to morality.
a strictly religious country for centuries now forever changed within a short number of years.
i have also seen the viewpoint on this site gradually change in many ways.

After 2 years my parents make contact. The end result is that I promise them to cryogenically preserve ONLY their heads
by paulmolark init has been 2 and a half years since my departure from the religion.
i was told by my parents from the start that i would never speak to them until i returned to jehovah dog.
a few months later they told people they hoped i died before the end came, then all of this culminating in them telling my inactive / fading sister that they don't consider me a child anymore and they have given me up to satan.

paulmolark: Abusers of all kinds flock to this cult... it is a haven for them. Some of the most evil people I have known have been "members in good standing" or in positions of authority. Your experience with your mother is another example. It is ironic how they can take money from you while still abusing you. Brings back memories for me.
You are entitled to feel and deal with her as you wish. Protect your family.

June JW Broadcast - Jehovah's & Jesus' names Are Interchangeable!
by The Searcher inmr. geoffrey jackson hosts this month's propaganda-fest, and uses a favourite catchphrase of the org - "by extension" - to get out of the dead-end which the scriptwriters had put him in.
he quotes matthew 10:22 - "and you will be objects of hatred by all people on account of my [jesus'] name; but he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.".
mr. jackson knows only too well that probably no j.w.

Next to J it is "GB this and GB" that in comments, talks and prayers at the KH and in the mags. Jesus comes in a dismal 3rd. Such a supposed all important name and it has been reduced to "J."
I can remember a time not to long ago when calling someone a "JW" was unacceptable. Proper terminology was "One of Jehovah's Witnesses" not "a Jehovah Witness" either.
J...what kind of witness is that? For all you know it could stand for Jackass.
