Evolution is a Fact #1 - Protein Functional Redundancy
by cofty ini intend for this to be one of a series of bite-sized ops on the evidence for evolution.. introduction to dna genes are sequences of dna made up of words (codons) each of which are three letters (bases) long.
there are only four letters in the genetic alphabet (acg&t) each word or codon is the recipe for one amino acid.
there are 20 different amino acids in living organisms.

General health after learning TTATT
by Darkknight757 in4 months ago i was conducting the watchtower study along with a long list of responsibilities that come with being an elder in a very goofy congregation.
during this time my health was going down hill.
i've always had a low blood pressure,(102/65 or abouts) but for the past year it had creeped up to 135/90 range.. so 2 months ago after learning ttatt, i'm still considered an elder because the brothers won't let me step down, but i haven't done anything in that time except comment once at a meeting a few weeks ago.

Didn't ask, just tendered my resignation. Gave one legit reason. My health has always been good but I certainly have less stress and a much more laid back life since. Some anxiety at first about implementing the fade but that has gone well.
Sounds like you have a good reason to step aside. Use it.

I've discovered the trek down this new path is a marathon and not a sprint. I doubt I have sufficient time left in my remaining years to examine it all and come to a definitive conclusion on all of it. I have not just stopped everything else in life to jump into examining all of this, because I have concluded it is at least as important to enjoy living some of the life I have remaining. I think that I can perhaps do the greatest good by helping my children and their children to get a good basis or start in their lives so they can more fully enjoy their future. Hopefully they will think of me (in good ways) occasionally when they reflect on where they are in life down the road.
DOC: This is a very profound statement that I couldn't agree with more. -

JW Religion same as Stock Market/Gambling (Concept)
by Da.Furious infor the last few days i was discussing with a colleague of mine at work about the stock market and how some people, even when losing money, they will hold onto their shares because someone said they will rise again.
this may lead to lost opportunities or even losing all their money instead of de-risking and offsetting loses by buying another stock, in other word jumping ship.. this got me thinking about jws (knowing that i am still in).
took one step back and looked at our family and what we have done by sticking to this religion.

With WTS/JW it is "all and nothing" give your all and get nothing. That is not gambling in my books. There is no possibility of a return. -

In the past we taught it, but now we teach other thing....
by opusdei1972 ini have been reading the watchtower study edition of march 2016. here some deceptive statements so as to justify their new lights:.
when were gods people held captive by babylon the great?.
that spiritual captivity lasted from the second century c.e.
-
RichardHaley
So if God's people were in captivity from the 2nd century until 1919 who were they? They have given up trying to identify any anointed during that time. I mean, if they don't know who they were than how do they know they were in captivity? -

Why do people just give their money to the Watchtower?
by WireRider inwhat do they contribute to humanity?
what do they contribute to any part of society?.
why are people paying for a scam?.
-

I donated because I thought it helped others. Then I realized that everyone has to pay for their KHs and AHs, no one gets one built for free. How stupid of me! So I stopped, donating that is. -

This is one of the most interesting threads I have read so far. Starting to see a pattern here of how money and human guinea pigs can be manipulated to the benefit of elite JWs.

Two Year Delay in Building New KHs - What Is the Real Impact?
by committeechairman inwhere are all these kingdom halls that were going to start being built?
the rbc arrangement was officially announced as an arrangement that was ending in the united states branch territory in a letter on january 24, 2014 (although this letter is no longer listed on jw.org).
this means that 23 months have passed since the announcement of the ldc taking over and "acceleration" of kingdom hall builds.. what has happened in the meantime with kh construction?

RBC worked and worked well as far as I could tell. If it isn't broke why fix it. They could of instituted the new "donation expense" arrangement while keeping the RBCs in place without missing a beat. Every cong I know is keeping up with the new arrangement so the money is going some where. Maybe it is just being rat-holed. -

Sometimes I think Jehovah's Witnesses overuse the word "historic"
by slimboyfat inat the beginning of the may broadcast stephen lett said this was a historic broadcast.
he explained that every member of the governing body had hosted a show and they were starting over again.
that was all the explanation he gave.

Yes Perry have raised and still raise parrots. I have raised at one time or another every parrot in your picture. Retired now with only some macaws and jenday conures.
