When The Persecution Comes
by cofty inwhen i was young everybody used to fantasise constantly about how brave we would all need to be "when the persecution comes".
we worried about what "they" would do to us and how we would never talk or betray other jws.
psychologically it was a damaging environment for children; but maybe that's another topic.. who would have thought that when it finally came it would take the form of being sued for protecting pedophiles.

I was concerned about people shoving hot pointy things in my eyes
Now,
If the persecution IS pedophile lawsuits,
Then all we'd really have to do is learn to block our ears and cover our eyes,
As 8 million of God's people are showing themselves very capable of doing
So
All this persecution prep work really has paid off,
They're golden!

Dear Mike,
Do you know what a Pharisee is?
(Sarcasm)
PS When a brother comes into the KM wearing a beard do you beat him
with a rod when the sisters ask you to?

If "the Truth" is the truth, why are witnesses so scared of research?
by stuckinarut2 init is an often asked question i know, but it perplexes me.. if witnesses are so convinced that they have "the truth", why is the act of researching information from external sources so taboo?
didn't the bible itself tell people to "use their powers of reason" and also praised ones like the boreans for researching things they were told??.
seriously, if there is no doubt about the organization being "god's channel" on earth, and it alone having the "truth", surely researching would only enhance such 'facts'?.

What makes a site Apostate?
Something stated by an Ex JDub?
By "False Religion?"
By a renowned University that's "unfavorable?"

Are baptized Witnesses that are no longer in the "truth", but were NEVER DF'D, now to be shunned and treated like disfellowshipped ones?
by Dunedain ina relative of mine was telling me, that in his, and a few neighboring congregations, there is a little confusion amongst some of the jw's about this "issue".
some families are having a hard time about whether certain relatives will be attending certain family functions, because some family members that are no longer in the "truth", might be invited to these functions.
mind you, these persons were never disfellowshipped.

Regardless of when it it was implemented I see this as Old West style
justice where in many cases there was no Sheriff, so the people took the
law into their own hands,
This is common still in Moslem countries where if you want someone's
house you will cry "He has blasphemed the Prophet" and "the people" will
kill the man,
Now to the less lethal type,
When I was a kid in the 1960s I knew about disfellowshipping
I didn't completely understand the details but I knew
We didn't talk to THAT person
What's going on now is a lot less clear as
In addition to JCs
Everybody's taking their own individual Judicial Actions
Now the inmates are running the asylum
What should you do?
"Run fast run clear" was my solution
Others don't have that option
So maybe it's like visiting a friend in a Psychiatric ward
Be nice to everybody
Play along when people aren't being coherent
Then go home
Take a sigh of relief
And be happy you're not there anymore

Thank you for allowing me that joke
Seriously,
It is like the old West
If the Sheriff can't arrest you in town (within the elders' range)
Then all brothers and sisters are deputized as judge and executioner
Shunning you at will
Cool (sarcasm)
Aren't you glad the secular justice system doesn't work like this lol

Yes,
Watched Cedars video on the convention
And it's quite apparent
That if you are a renegade
Watch Tower operatives
Will hunt you down
And kill you

Schnell: Me too as my folks were jdubs but then again it was also due to
the fact that the malt liquor made my Dad particularly randy that
night
