Not a member of any religion , just a Christian.
I attend a Pentecostal church for fellowship.
i see that there are many people on here who've left the jw's and are still christians...but i wonder what type?
non denominational?
has anyone changed to something completely different like hindu or buddhism?
Not a member of any religion , just a Christian.
I attend a Pentecostal church for fellowship.
last week during bible highlights, a sister commented on leviticus 19:28 about not having a tattoo.
i also commented, saying that we are not under the law, but the principle should be taken into consideration.. a sister i don't speak with very often called me.
she is in the same congregation as some of my family.
"Yes, but we are not under the law, look at the verse preceding it, it says not to cut your beard. So we can't pick and choose what verses we want to."
I brought this up many years ago with an Elder, who was going on about some OT command we had to keep, I said what about the verse that says a male "worshipper of Jehovah" should not cut their beard. So in that case shouldn't JW males have beards? Seeing we are "worshippers of Jehovah".
This is so true of the WT they only use OT commandments when it suits their teachings, and ignore the rest. If one applies why not all? Then they go on about how when Christ died it did away with the need to follow the Law of Moses. But the "principles" remain.
once again our lurking jw friend sent us this latest mind control drivel from the " witness only " watchtower.
remember - this is the information our jw relatives will study in their witness meetings at their watchtower study.
this is what they are currently being indoctrinated with.
"Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm." 2 Cor 1:24
"Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 2 Pet 5:2,3
There is a difference between having authority and abusing that authority by lording it over those in your care.
The Governing Body is placing themselves on Gods Throne, something that the Anti-Christs were said would do.
last week a young jw girl about 17 or 18 knocked on my door with some litture and i showed her a 8-10 picture of the wt artwork portraing god`s judgment on non-jw at the big "a".
so i said is this is what you are going to do to me if i do not become a jw.
i think you folks know the picture i am talking about.
Not a method I would use, but understandable.
It would have hit home that basically that what they preach is deep down a message of hate, not love as they say.
When Ihave asked JWs if they are the only ones to be saved, they say no.
But then they go into that those that have died will be resurrected into the New System.
I stop them and say "I'm not talking about those who are dead, but those who are alive now. The 6 billion who according to your doctrine will die at Armageddon. Will any of them be saved?"
They usually don't have an answer.
Is it any different from what some Muslims teach that if you do not accept Islam, you deserve to die.
perhaps this article will help you know for yourself: http://www.tetragrammaton.org/godsnameabsent.htm.
I often think about when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray in Matthew 6.
A great opportunity to show them to use the name Jehovah.
What does He do he says "Our Father..." not once in that prayer does He use Gods name or say anything about using it when praying.
If it was so important to use as the JWs say why didn't jesus take that moment to teach them its importance in prayer?
i talked to a couple of my friends that are jw's this week about this, they said, "well, obviously mj thought it was the truth, that's why he left his kids to his mother, so they can be raised as witnesses.".
why didn't he leave his kids to his brothers?
he has several of them.. bf.
Of course he later converted to Islam
As far as I know there is no evidence that MJ converted to Islam.
His brother Jermaine, was on a British TV show "Never Mind the Buzzcoocks" and was asked if MJ had become a Muslim. He said he hadn't and that MJ had his own personal beliefs.
i've always hated story #53: "jepthah's promise".
i always felt sorry for the daughter who had to spend the rest of her days at the tabernacle because her father made a numb-nuts promise to god.
who did he think he was, making promises for other people?
That would not fit in with that Jehovah did not approve of human sacrifices.
russell taught that 1914 ce would bring in an unprecedented era of peace.
in 1930, rutherford moved russells date of the parousia from 1874 to 1914. .
thus until 1930 not one follower had recognised the currently ascribed significance in heaven to the time that corresponds to 1914 on our earth.
Everytime I see "scholar?" (called so in name only) on here I feel so sad. Its like reading something by those Nazis as Germany was falling in 1945, but still believed that the "Thousand year Reich" was still an ongoing thing. Or the Japanese soldier in the jungles of the Philipines who years after 1945 still believed that Japan was winning the war. The Russian communist who believed that Stalin was a real nice guy and wouldn't harm any of his people and that communism will rule the world.
Or is "scholar?" like the radical Muslim, indoctrinated to hate anything that contradicted his beliefs. "Scholar?" wraps himself in the suicide bomb of "607BCE" one day it will go off and destroy him and the Watchtower organisation.
jw's redefine words.
they change lives as a result, with people actually thinking they are in control, when they are not.. here are some that really have caused me anxiety, arguments, and just complete frustration.
even when i was a "believer" some of these bothered me.. provision (rule).
too right, Deserter, in the JW mind "Christian/s" refers only to Jehovahs Witnesses. I would redefine "apostate" as someone who finally has seen through the lies of the Watchtower. "the end" anytime between now and infinity. "Armageddon" worldwide bloodbath. "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society" publishing organisation that uses unpaid workers to print and distribute its book, magazine, brochures and tracts.
they are not your leaders!.
here it is, in print, on page 110 above the picture of "the nine".. "the governing body relies on god's holy spirit for direction.
its members do not regard themselves as the leaders of jehovah's people.

Thanks for pointing out that Christians do not follow any man or men, or need to be part of any organisation.
But its a relationship with Christ that counts above all.
