The New Pope

hasn't been a pope from germany since the 11th century.

he was a very close friend of pope john paul ii and is expected to carry on along where the other pope left off.

Women priests - "Ban on women priests is necessary to safeguard the unity of the Church and guide the faithful"

Music - "Rock music is a vehicle of anti-religion and the expression of basic passions."

Gays - "Homosexuality is an intrinsic moral evil. Gays human rights can and should be legitimately limited"

Other Faiths - Anglicanism and Protestantism are not proper churches. Only the CatholicChurch is the one and only true and supreme Church. Other religions are deficient"

i've done a search, but cannot find any biography about him.

How long has he been a JW? How old is he? Where is he from? What qualifications does he have and from where?

Is there anyone who knows where I can find such information or can tell me.

i'm working out at the ymca with my sister, and she spots an old dub friend of mine playing b'ball on the court.

i had become really close friends with him during my high school years (about seven years ago), and lost touch a couple of years ago.

anyway, he much like most other jw's in my life i never really had one last "huraaah" before i formally da'd myself in 2004, so chances are he never got the word.

Is this one of those odd American rules, like the two door car thing?

Here in Britain I know many JW's in the congregation I was in who regularly went to such stores. One Elders wife made a big thing about some of the good clothes she got from Oxfam, or Red Cross shops. Many went to other charity shops as well, British Heart Foundation, Scope (cerebral palsy), Salvation Army. I would meet them at assemblies/conventions as well, telling me they got something from a charity shop and how the money they saved help pay for the trip to the convention.

No one ever said a word whether it was wrong to go to such places. Well no one would not after a Circuit Overseer turned round and said the suit he was wearing he got from a CAFOD (Catholic charity shop)

Blood- would you/have you given/taken it?

since leaving the jws and joining my current company i get asked every six months to give blood.

i've never done it and still feel as if i had an accident i would be very reluctant to have a transfusion.. if its not too personal can i ask what others views are on this and your experiences if any?.

My son 29, ex-JW, had severe anaemia Jan 2004, he was taken into hospital immediately, after the Doctor got results of his blood test.

He was given three units of blood, plus iron injections. The Doctor said that the injectons on their own would not have been any good. As my son needed the red blood cells to take the iron around his body so it could be used to make more blood. If he hadn't have had the blood he would have died.

In other words if its a choice between keeping Gods Law and or breaking it to save a life, YOU BREAK THE LAW.

a cousin of mine was married to a brother at seventeen for two years.

they both pioneered and were, evidently, a happy spiritual couple.. my cousin realised that she had made a huge mistake marrying this brother, as they both were hormonally charged teenagers who had followed paul's advice to get married if they could not go without sex.

she just did not love him any more and she felt trapped by the jw stance on divorce.. this was her escape plan:.

It was a common thing at one time on how to end a marriage.

Have an affair, get divorced, get disfellowshipped, get reinstated, get married again.

I know two sons of an Elder who did it, now they themselves are Elders.

Awful Friends.

i have some awful friends.

loud, demanding, boorish, mean, cantankerous, boozy, critical, flirtatious, foul-mouthed and generally obnoxious in every possible way.

but they're still my friends.

I have found that the "awful friends" I have made since I left the JW's, have shown me more concern, love and support than any JW did.

Two of these "awful friends" have come to my aid, when times where bad, without being asked, and without wanting anything in return. Yet I have only known them for about 3 years. I was a JW for 20+ years and when I needed help they turn their back on me.

Also these "awful friends" organised a collection for the tsunami victims, raised nearly a £1000. Would you get any JW's doing the same?

Give me my "awful friends" above "Jehovah's loving people" anytime.

Are the Demons Really Everywhere?

our witness family was obsessed with demonism.. at a very early age, i was introduced to strange stories of demonism.

a brother in the congregation had brought home a souvenier doll from a tropical island as a gift for his daughter.

the daughter would talk about how the doll would come to life, but the stories were dismissed and attributed to the child's imagination.

As somone said earlier about JW's who have read and seen the Harry Potter stuff. Likewise I know of many BA Christians who have also. A friend of mine a strong BA when the Harry Potter thing first appeared decied to see for himself what was it all about. So he read the book, and has since read every book and seen the films. So has the rest of his family. As others have said on here he saw the basics that the books were teaching children to overcome their fears and obstacles of life. As well as being good stories.

The thing with JW's is I think thatthey have been instilled with this fear of "demons" as a means of control. That you are only safe in "Jehovah's organisation" etc. They go on about how wonderful and powerful Jehovah is. Yet he seems to be powerless to stop "demons" having a go at his followers.

Which side of the bed did YOU get out of this morning?

Who said I was trying to minimilise the figures. All I asked for was information.

Because I get JW's telling me that anything up to 10,000 of them died in the camps, then I read less than a 1,000 did.

So if you don't mind I would like some truthful information about the numbers.

I would still ask the same question if it was about the Jews, but because I have Jewish relatives I have no need to.

If the rumors are correct that the gospel is akin to the one reported by Irenaeus, this would be the first gospel ascribed to the great villain of Christianity -- Judas Iscariot.

Why should it be Judas Iscariot? What evidence is there that it is?

There was more than one Judas mentioned.

Luke 6:13-16

"And when it was day, he called [unto him] his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles.Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes. And Judas [the brother] of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor."

or

Matt 13:55

"Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?"

Just as James, Jesus brother became a follower, why couldn't his other brother Judas also have done so, and written an account of what he saw and heard?
