Whats Wrong With the JW doctrines

i just unfortunately came back from the jw convention and ive only heard their side of the story i know that they use mind control tactics but i need to know what is wrong with there doctrines biblically.

i took a king james bible and seemed like what the were saying about the bible was true.

im never going to try going back to that religion again but i need to know that the only thing wrong with their religion isnt the mind control tactics they use.

It seems like they follow the bible to a nose.

No they follow what the Watchtower tells them the Bible says.

They would be lost without the WT telling what to believe from one day to the next.

One of the strangest remarks I've read in a WT publication is "If you read the Bible on your own you will start to believe what Christendom teaches."

In other words you will start to believe in things like salvation is a gift, not to be worked for. That Jesus is the only way to salvation and is your Mediator, and not just to some group of "anointed" ones. . That there is an immortal soul that lives after death.

Its only by the WT telling you not to believe such things that JW's do, not by any reading of the Bible

Where not the Watchtower preaching prior to 1914 that Christ had arrived in 1874 and the "anointed" had gone to heaven by 1878.

Also that 1914 would be Armageddon and the new system would be here.

You know very well that our teachings are Bible -based because Bible texts are frequently cited in our literature and public preaching and teaching.

And nobody elses.

Just because they appear in the Watchtower or some misled Elder speaks them DOES NOT make them correct.

The Bible texts must be right because they are in the Watchtower. The Watchtower must be right because it uses Bible texts.

Circular reasoning, totally useless.

You KNOW the doctrine is untenable, so does the Gorverning Body, so do the "celebrated Watchtower scholars."

I'm still waiting for the list of "celebrated Watchtower scholars" this mysterious group who are so sure of themselves they hide so that they don't have to answer to anyone.

Also how do you managed to type those posts of your wearing the blindfold the Watchtower puts on you.

the catholic church knows that it has a problem with many of its priest who have been proven.

to be pedophiles.

millions of dollars have been paid out to the victims.

We know that child abuse goes on.

Whether its within the Catholic Church or Watchtower organisation, other groups have had the problem as well.

I think with the WT its the insensitive way in which they dealt with cases of child abuse. The stupidity of applying the "two witnesses" rule to child abuse. The hypocrisy of distributing a tract that implied that it was a problem in other religions. While having over 20,000 cases on their files at Brooklyn. Making the most of the fact that the Catholic church had to pay out money to child abuse victims. While keeping quiet about the money they have had to pay out also.

Barbara Andersons CD should be sent to all those in the media that have dealt with child abuse in the past.

A NEW Flock book has been released, with notes by a Presiding Overseer

for several years there has been available a pay attention to yourselves and to the flock book in pdf and html format.

this book has proven to be extremely valuable in exposing the morally questionable activities of the watchtower society.

now we have a new version that is even more valuable because it contains the hand-written notes of a presiding overseer, some notes as recent as late 2005. these notes are frequently dictated to elders by a circuit overseer or district overseer in order to avoid liability (the wts can deny every giving such instructions).

did you change your mind, perhaps decided it was too contrary to your beliefs for you to handle?

Do you remember this change?

thinking about the 1995 change (1914 generation) made me remember vaguely another change that i seem to remember 'shook' me quite a bit, maybe even more so (not quite sure why exactly, that's why i'd like to remind myself of this).. .

-it was about how 'new light' had revealed that it wasn't jw who were separating the sheep from the goats while they go door-to-door, but instead jehovah (or jesus) that will separate them when time comes.. anyone here remember something along those lines, and if so, what publication it was in etc.?.

Yes I'm sure this was 1995/6 as well.

From when I became a JW in early 1970's we were always told we were doing the separating work, by our preaching. How many of us came away from a door saying "That ones a goat."

Then "New Light" that Jesus would do the separating when he came again as described in Matthew 25.

I thought it strange that "Jehovahs organisation" found this to be "New Light" when "Christendom" had been teaching it for the past 2,000 years.

Something the WT would have called one of Christendoms false teachings. Suddenly became "New LIght" from Jehovah.
