a few days ago i had an elder and one of "the anointed" come by to encourage my wife and i to "get back to the meetings before it's too late".
i proceeded to tell him a few of the reasons why i've lost confidence in the elders and the organization, and he retorted with a real- life example of how i need to see that although the "brothers" can make mistakes, it's best to accept it as "jehovah's will" and play along.

You can be sure if that had happenrd in say the Catholic Church.
It would have been plastered all over the Watchtower saying it shows how corrupt the Catholic Church was.

Its obvious that who ever wrote it had no idea about the real Christian faith. As usual they look at what religions teach and not Christianity.
Also I find it strange that atheists seem to put most of their effort in trying disprove the existence of the "Christian God." I have never found any of them arguing against the many Hindu gods, or Buddhists, or Shinto, or even Islam.
Its amazing how so much effort is put into trying to prove that something that doesn't exist - doesn't exist.

according to the understanding and teachings of the wtbts, adam ate from the tree of knowledge of good and bad because... eve had eaten and was going to die and adam, who had been by himself for a long time before eve came along, chose to die with eve - he loved her so much and did not want to live without her or be alone.

Adam was trying to get free from the stagnation of always doing what Jehovah Baghead was telling him to do .
What had Jehovah told Adam to do? Look after the garden, don't eat from that tree, be fruitful and mulitply. Not exactly hard work was it. Adam had the potential and freedom to develope. How was he being stagnated?
There was no proof that they were happy under Jehovah's rulership, and there is no proof that Jehovah didn't impede them from using their minds to create value
There is no proof they were unhappy either. No proof that Jehovah was impeding them either, who knows what the potential of perfect mankind would have had.
What should have been done is giving credit , not blame, for setting them free from Jehovah's potentially oppressive and stagnating rulership.
Instead we get death, disease, violence, greed, bitterness, feuding, war, pollution of what could have been a clean earth.
And, Jehovah acted in envy to destroy that freedom for both of them.
What was Jehovah envious of? What were they capable of having that Jehovah did not?
In fact, I have good evidence based on what else I have seen Jehovah do that He did in fact create stagnation in their lives before they "sinned". They chose death instead of stagnation!
Can we have the "good evidence" then please? Seeing that you are basing this conjecture on a few verses in the first two chapters of the Bible.
i left about 8 years ago, at the grand old age of 24, basically being an unmarried mum of 1 (baptised when my girl was 11months old) and the 'tipping point for me' when elder sisters tried to set me up for marriage to a 64year old elder, as that would be the only man willing to marry a girl such as myself.

I remember one year,late 1980's, in my old congregation we had a spate of weddings 8-10, I think, usually it would just be a couple a year.
Ages of the couples varied from early 20's to late 30's.
Attending the reception of the last wedding, I was a Min Servant at the time, I remarked to an Elder about the number of weddings we had had that year.
He leaned towards me and quietly said "Yeah and not one of them were virgins." he gave a wink and a smile.
How he knew I don't know. I knew one couple weren't for sure and maybe another one.

Though there was a 3% growth here in Britain this last "Service year" they are only back to what they were 10 years ago.
In 1996 they were peak 132,000, average 127,000 approx
In 2007 its peak 131,000, average 125,000 approx.
Is that growth ?

in any case there are a few who still speak to us (less than 10 altogether but still, bethel take note...) and i had the opportunity to discuss the blood fiasco with one of them recently.
their argument was that even if the wts gets some things wrong, they get a lot right and jehovah will sort it all out.
To me letting a person die by refusing them a blood transfusion or any other blood products.
Whether its and adult or worse a child. Letting them die just to show "loyalty" to Jehovah.
Is nothing more than a "Human Sacrifice".
Is it any different from those pagans who sacrificed their children or virgins to idols, just to show their "loyalty" to their gods.

i was raised in the witness organization however in about 1993 i encountered much hypocrisy and left for about 3 years.

If people would just read their Bibles and not listen to all the explanations that the WT puts out, they would find the truth. I think that is their fear in not wanting people to "study on their own" independently.
Didn't Charles Russel say that anyone who reads the Bible alone, would end up believing the same as "Christendom".
So thats why they should just read and believe Watchtower publications.

As far as I have heard that now with the new "JW only" study Watchtower. Is that JWs and their studies who attend the meeting are allowed a copy. Any visitors may be given a copy, but they may be collected at the end of the meeting. But nothing seems definite about this.
Question 2

Works are your faith in action, not a means of gaining salvation.
The WT teaches that only by being a member of there organisation and doing as iy says can you be saved.
