I'm with you, One Last Kiss, I think this thread is hilarious. Simon should seriously consider moving it to the Humour section!

Oh sh1t!
the new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

yes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.
DocHouse - do you still go out door-to-door?
Imagine the following scenario: you knock on someone's door and the householder expresses an interest. You and another JW conduct a bible study with him. He attends meetings. At one of these he hears about the overlapping generation teaching and asks about it in the following week's study.
What would you say to him? Would you parrot the party line or give your own opinion?
ok, so the time has finally come to register an account on this site.
not that i think i have much to contribute to the discussions here, but more out of a desire to show that yet another person has learned ttatt.
i am a fader, not discussing ttatt with anyone as i know the inevitable outcome it would have.
Welcome to the forum, LMR. My WTF moment came with the generation change of 1995, nearly a whole generation (normal definition) earlier than yours.
Stick around - everyone's entitled to have opinions and sensibly voice them on this forum.
churches: jesus switched bodies for you and has risen!.
jw org: jesus has been ruling for 100 years!.
both equally ridiculous!~.
You're spot on in your OP, DocHouse.
So, what's the answer, atheism or agnosticism?

Excellent post, EdenOne, with a good critique of both the WTS and religion in general.
If God was really interested in our well-being, he wouldn't need to test us through faith - this was the stand-out sentence for me. As you rightly say, if God exists, he should reveal himself and state clearly whether he wants to be worshipped or not, and if so, how.
I think I'm at a similar stage of personal development as you are at - I'm strongly critical of organised religion, think it's the worst joke ever played on mankind, and seriously doubt if God exists. The watchtower of October 1995 that had the generation change also contained a disgraceful article about paedophilia, I believe. That was what did it for me.

we preach there to- just not in the open- or Islam would kill us all - you're not fooling anybody, DocHouse.
I read here at JWN that preaching in muslim countries is only done to ex-pats and Christian minorities. Could somebody confirm this?
Finkle- if one gulliblibly accepts an opinion as a fact- the fault is THEIR'S - agree 100% with you on this. But what about if opinion is forced onto people as fact?
i have updated the article at memorial partakers with the figures released for 2014. no surprises here, it has risen yet again, this time by 6% over last year, and is now 14,121.. .
.
Isn't it amazing, brothers, how Jehovah is speeding things up in his own due time.
Wait! Sh1t!

DocHouse - you're right, you don't understand where I'm coming from.
Can you please explain why people living in, say, the UK need to have a witness but people living in Saudi Arabia don't?
'Global, life-saving preaching work' is pure WTS propaganda, nothing more.

DocHouse - if Christ will judge people living in China, Saudi, etc. that didn't receive a witness then wouldn't that make the preaching work unnecessary?
