Well said, Min (& Simon).
This current coronavirus crisis shows up the open borders policy for the lunacy that it undoubtedly is.
that applies not just in this country.
.
i just thought it was worth mentioning.🤔.

the banking industry needed the kiss-of-life 12 years ago via tax-payers' money; uk privatised railway companies are totally dependent on tax-payers' cash for survival, and now airlines will be queuing up to receive public money to ensure the survival of their private companies.
"european aviation faces a precarious future and it is clear that co-ordinated government backing tax-payer's money will be required to ensure the industry survives...” https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51904769.
where should the line be drawn?.
Does capitalism DEPEND on socialism for its survival? - no, it doesn't.
But socialism (socialist policies) can only continue to exist in stable, capitalist countries (see Sweden, Norway, Denmark). So socialism/socialist ideas and policies depend on capitalism for their survival.
hey!.
first of all i want to mention that i'm not a member of the jehovahs witnesses.
however i'm open and non-judgemental towards any kind of religion.
Which came first the dinosaur or the egg? -
^^^ The egg still came first. Eggs with hard shells existed before dinosaurs came on the scene.
i am curious can a single jw sister get a breast augmentation?
will the elders disfellowship her?
will jehovah be angry with her or upset?
Can single sisters get Breast Augmentation? - and which one would they get done?
i'm a bit of a horror fan - i love horror movies and the novel dracula by bram stoker is a pretty good read - especially the first four chapters, with jonathan harker being in dracula's castle.. i've heard before that stoker based count dracula on a 15th century voivod (prince) of wallachia who went down in history as vlad the impaler - apparently, he was extremely barbaric and cruel, as his name suggests.. vlad's father was also called vlad.
daddy vlad was apparently part of an order of crusader knights, the order of the dragon.
this order was formed to protect christian europe against muslim ottomans/turks.
Hi Simon - is the Dracula adaptation you saw the one that is written by Mark Gatiss and stars Claes Bang?
Writer Mark Gatiss himself is a big horror fan, and I like some of his Sherlock episodes, too.
I don't have Netflix or even a TV licence but I've seen this DVD available. At the moment, it's too expensive for me (£13) but I might buy it if it goes down in price.

Hi Leonie, welcome to the forum.
We're not actually Jehovah's Witnesses here.
This site is a place for ex-Witnesses, people who were born into the cult and thus were forced to live by the cult's rules, and there are also a few interested others.
Evolution is generally accepted here.
Is your chemistry teacher a believing JW? Is he trying to argue against evolution and for a literal reading of the Bible book of Genesis?
(BTW, teachers specialising in chemistry tend not to be experts in evolution/biology.)
even if you are young and heathy there are very good reasons to fear this disease and take drastic actions to avoid it individually, and halt it together as communities.
not only would it be traumatic as a society to lose so many old and unwell family members and friends, but survivors of the disease may suffer significant health problems in the future.
survivors of the first sars virus in 2003 have suffered significant lung problems.
We must find the discipline to practise social distancing and other measures as they have in South Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore - so, no open borders, right?
can we really talk about beauty?
(first, a necessary preamble.
bear with me, please.
I think, re human facial beauty, much of what we find attractive comes down to symmetry.
Take this famous guy ...
I'm not attracted to Muhammad Ali but he was pretty photogenic in his prime. I'm fairly sure lots of women found him attractive ... probably some gay guys, too, I guess. His face was symmetrical, his teeth were straight, white and well-formed. His skin was clear and without blemishes. He was tall-ish and well-proportioned - not too fat, not too thin, not too stocky and not too gangly. His shoulders were broad and his waist was fairly small.
Now take this guy ...
Joseph Merrick was unfortunately extremely deformed. I'm not sure what he suffered from - it could have been neurofibromatosis or proteus syndrome, or both. He may have been a beautiful person on the inside but he had literally zero physical beauty. Notice, too, his asymmetrical head, face, arms, body. What woman in her right mind would consider this guy attractive? She would have to be off her raving titties to want this guy's babies.
I feel kinda bad talking about him like this but I'm not ripping on him, just stating what I think is the obvious.
Although physical beauty is subjective to some degree, genetics does come into it. Women wouldn't want to have Joseph Merrick's babies because his appearance is due to his genetics (genotype gives phenotype). There must have been something about Merrick's DNA for him to have grown up and looked like he did. Babies inherit some of the father's DNA. And women wouldn't want a chance of their babies to look like him.

I read somewhere that there is a link or correlation between high fertility levels and young women who have an hour-glass shape. <---- is this correct?
If so, this kinda makes sense because the hour-glass shape is very attractive for adult males.

I do think that Bram Stokers Dracula is one of the best in terms of visuals and story line plus actors that played in it - for me, it's an entertaining film and I'd recommend it. But I also think it's a mixed bag - it has its good points and bad points.
The visuals, set designs and costumes are excellent. Gary Oldman's a good actor, and props to him for not only hiring a dialect coach to get the accent acceptable (although there are some inconsistencies there) but he also learnt a few lines of Romanian, which he delivered very well.
I personally don't like making Dracula a loser in love. I'd much rather Dracula just be a villain through and through.
Yeah, like I said, Oldman's Romanian accent varies a bit - sometimes he sounds a little Russian, other times he sounds a little Italian. And, inexplicably, when he appears in the wolf bodysuit and the bat body suit, his accent is posh English! <---- what the hell was going on there?
As far as knowledge of the real Vlad, a lot of it is made up - it's almost impossible to verify what happened and what didn't.
The vampire stuff is obviously nonsense but makes for a good horror story.
The impaling may very well have happened. Young Vlad grew up in one of the Ottoman Sultan Murad's palaces. Vlad's father, Vlad Dracul, took his young sons (Vlad & Radu) there because Wallachia was a vassel state of the Ottoman Empire. Young Vlad would probably have seen criminals impaled there. The Ottomans used to punish Muslim criminals with beheading but all others - Christians, Druze, Jews - were punished with impaling.

I don't think of people back then as living in houses like that. It looks like a modern house - yeah well spotted. Apparently, the top two floors were added later, in the 18th or 19th century.
The bottom floor dates back from Vlad Draculea's birth (c. 1430) and was probably fairly new at that time.
