USA, you have homeless people and vacant buildings sharing the same areas. You have humongous healthcare costs and kept healthcare linked to employment, then destroyed your economy and the employment.

USA, you have no national standards for caring for the health or the education of the people.

Jennifer Kent and Robert Eggers are my favourite directors of the past decade.

The Nightingale (2019) is very brutal. If you get emotional from films, you'll probably feel very sad or angry if you saw this one.

It's not perfect but which country is?
Yes, the US clearly has current and historic issues.

But, whenever someone says how racist America is, ask yourself: in comparison to what?

They NEVER compare America to another, better country. That means that their statements lack context.

Yeah, so I bought The Nightingale (2019) recently, second hand. I paid £6 for it which was probably too much. But it was the only way I could get a copy. I suspected that this was a great film and was willing to pay over the odds for it.

I saw the film, and I wasn't disappointed. Spoilers from this point on - anyone of a sensitive disposition shouldn't really watch this film. To anyone else, please watch this film now if you don't want it spoiled for you.

The film was very powerful, but very brutal to watch. Some scenes were excruciating to sit through. But, that's exactly what writer/director Jennifer Kent intended, I think.

The film is about a young Irish convict in Tasmania - Clare - who has everything taken away from her by a trio of British soldiers. She teams up with an Aboriginal tracker, Billy, to find the soldiers and get revenge. That's the story, in a nutshell.

There are multiple rape scenes and several scenes of people (including a baby) being killed. However, the scenes aren't shot gratuitously. They're important to the plot.

The scene that really got under my skin didn't even show violence, but the violence was implied. It forced my mind to go to a very dark place. I'm speaking of the moment where a white settler, having just shot his Aboriginal slave, pulls out a knife and says he wants a trophy. You don't actually see the beheading but it nearly freaked me out.

This movie is fantastic. The violence and language are off the charts and it was difficult to sit through but it was also very well made, with great acting - particularly from Aisling Franciosi, the actor who plays Clare. Her performance was Oscar-worthy.

Remember this name: Jennifer Kent. She will go down in history as one of the greatest film makers of all time.

The Great White has sharp, triangular teeth and strong jaws, perfect for biting huge chunks out of seals and other large sea creatures.

The Great White, an efficient swimmer, swims up behind the seal and takes a huge bite out of the seal's hind flippers (the pair that it uses to swim with). The immobilised seal loses much blood and goes into shock.

Feeding in this manner can mean that some of the shark's teeth fall out. This is no problem because it has rows of teeth growing behind the current row in use, like a conveyor belt.

The shark waits for the seal to die from blood loss, then comes back to feed at its leisure.

How could all this happen from blind chance?

What an amazing creature the Great White is!

one person here mentioned that nikki haley (parents are from india) is a woman of color.. what defines "woman of color?

" is there some scan gun that they put point at your head and defines the pigmentation?.

White = European, or European descent.

Person of color = someone who is non-white. It could be an African guy, a mixed-race person, an Indian, a Chinese person, an Arab, an Abbo, etc.

It's not just in the US, society is divided in Canada, UK and Australia.

There is a culture war going on in the West.

Cultural Marxists wish to drastically change society (Feminists: 'let's smash The Patriarchy!'; trans activists: 'men who say that they're women can use ladies bathrooms'). Sadly, although being a minority, they have infected all sections of society.

Hopefully, the common sense of the majority will win out.

The french language is very strict about this. There is no " it" - that's right, a voiture (car) is referred to as elle (she) and a chien (dog) is referred to as il (he).

Arabic goes even further. You is divided up into five pronouns:

anta - you (singular, masculine)

anti - you (singular, feminine)

antum - you (plural, masculine)

antunna - you (plural, feminine)

antumaa - you two

And they has three pronouns:

hum - they (masculine)

hunna - they (feminine)

humaa - them two

I like Arabic because it reinforces the gender binary. ;)
