Some policeman in Devon shared a meme of George Floyd (not particularly nice, but illegal?!) in a whatsapp message to his mates, some of whom were coppers, some not.

And someone complained and he's been arrested.

First: yes, George Floyd memes are highly likely to offend at least some people.

But why on Earth should we have a sweeping law which can be interpreted so broadly?

The limits on freedom of speech and expression are:

No incitement to violence or criminality

No shouting 'fire' in a crowded theatre if you know there is no fire

^^^ That should be it. Offensive things should be legal. It's not ideal but it's best in the long run.

recently, some scientists modeled one of the simplest known cells - that of a bacteria.

it took an army of 128 computers running for 10 hours to process the data required in the 25 categories of molecules that are involved in this "simple cells'" life processes.

think about that for a moment - 128 computers running for 10 hours just to compute the data, not actually do it mind you; but just to model the known processes in one of the simplest known cells, which is many orders of magnitude simpler than a human cell.

The evolution theory has run out of time - this is a dubious statement.

Life has existed on Earth for billions of years. That's untold individuals for natural selection to act on, over many, many generations.

I think any music that encourages violence against anyone else should be banned - the thing is, most rap songs don't encourage actual violence against real people.

The lyrics do seem to glorify violence, though.

However, haven't we been here before?

There is no link between pornography and men who rape women, from what I remember.

There is no link between people who watch horror films and violent crime.

Can't people listen to rap, with the strongest of lyrics, without murdering a bunch of people?

I mean, it can't be a legitimate excuse, can it - a young thug arrested for attempted murder, and the guy says 'well, I listen to rap music, you see, and the lyrics told me to do it'

If we use the N word it’s racist but if rappers or those that follow the genre say it, it’s all good! - I yearn for a world where black, white & brown can all call each other n*gga. Sounds good to me.
