“We are not done yet!” – Candace Conti reacts to appeal court decision

candace conti (pictured in her interview with abc) has spoken out for the first time about the appeal court decision.

as current and former jehovahs witnesses digest the news that watchtowers appeal against the candace conti verdict has faltered, albeit with the punitive element of the judgment reversed, candace has reacted for the first time by telling me: we are not done yet.. news spread on monday that the state appeals court in san francisco had upheld the $2.8 million compensatory damages in the original june 2012 verdict, but overturned the $8.6 million punitive award against watchtower.. the court decided that, though watchtower had neglected its responsibility to supervise known pedophile jonathan kendrick in field ministry, a church-sponsored activity, the organization had no duty to warn parents in the congregation that a pedophile was in their midst or report him to authorities.. an insightful report by investigative reporter trey bundy has suggested that the court reached its decision because the precedent set by the conti verdict might be too burdensome to enforce.. the burden would be considerable because the precedent could require a church to intervene whenever it has reason to believe that a congregation member is capable of doing harm, and the scope of that duty could not be limited with any precision, the judges wrote.. candaces attorney rick simons responded by pointedly telling bundy: they think in public policy terms that theres too much risk in broadening the churchs responsibility and liability so that it burdens what churches do.

Candace. Thank you for not taking the settlement "hush money" like so many others and sticking to your guns. Your case and interviews have encouraged others to come forward and talk. I heard 3 new cases in my area after your ABC interview.

No matter how it ends up what can this Religion brag about? The publicity was damming. If a Child Molester gets a 3 yr sentence vs 20 yrs, is he any less a child molester? He is still branded for life and an outcast.

As far as "Public Policy" goes in California, Governor Jerry Brown J.D., made it very clear during last fall's elections he would not support expanding statute of limitations and child protections because the issue had been so prevalent. In the end it was all about the $$. :(

a statement that phizzy made on jonathan drake's thread on flyers gave me the following ideas.. we should make a flyer on the issue of the watchtower pedophilia issue written with the object of alerting the public about the jw door to door activity.

phizzy suggested the title, "the paedophile at your door".. on that flyer should be the contact information of our most informed member on the subject who's willing to talk to the media.

Just improve your posting titles on this forum. Use keywords when starting a thread. Simply sharing some news stories on Craigs list, and Facebook with good keyword titles "Jehovah" "Watchtower" "Jehovah's Witness Elder". No need to act crazy or work hard.

Simon Says; You knew Both Freddy and Ray? Did you also work at 124 in the 70s? That was a long time ago...If you followed the GB lead and put Kingdom intrests first, you should be old, childless, and broke. Or did you turn a deaf ear to Freddy and the Governing body, "pannel your home", not put Kingdom interests first and talk to apostates on the internet.........:)

Try finding the first chapter of the book "Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the Sons of God" online. Lots of charts and 1975 referances.

IF Fred Franz was gods channel...did God lie to Fred? Fred had bad eyesight...so was he deaf to the Holy Spirit as well? Was the Holy Spirit lying to Fred, or... just playing tricks on him. If Fred Franz was "running ahead of the other members of the governing body, WHY was he rewarded with being promoted to PRESIDENT of the Watchtower Society after the failed prophecy? So many questions...........

How is Joe Publisher reacting to all the TV coverage on the abuse cases?

please pardon if this a repeated topic.

i have had virtually no contact with any witnesses beside my mother for the past few years.

she watches tv constantly and claims she has never seen anything on the watchtower abuse cases.

It is easy to forward both news story links with a Facebook PM. I have forwarded the links to a number of ex and Current JWs with a "Did you see this!"

I was shocked that some said "how dare she drag Jehovah's name through the mud." The EX /Fading/Disfellowshipped JWs were very receptive. FOUR replied they had been molested as children and it had been covered over for over 20 years! Two disfellowshiped JWs were angry that they were booted for smoking/drinking/apostacy while pedophiles remained in good standing. FB is an EXCELLENT way of contacting current and EX JWs with your FB profile or a fake one.
