The latest "Flock" book for elders goes into this subject in detail. No priveledges. Removal of Elders whose CHILDREN even go to college. The GB seems to have doubled down.
I eventually went to college as an adult, attending classes on non-meeting nights and some weekends. I had to keep my mouth shut to do it. It was like I was having an affair... or smoking in the bathroom. lol.
what was the standard of quick builds.
did they cut corners, ignore building regulations, were they unsafe .
The local government building inspectors signed off on everyone I worked on. Most of the main workers were journeyman tradesmen and licensed contractors, so the work quality was not an issue.
Some strange money dealings were involved with the forced use of Watchtower seats, carpets, and wall-covering suppliers.

i would like to know if ex's and formers who are not church christians, believe that many of jws' doctrines and bible interpretations are correct, or do you feel that they aren't?

During my first year away from Watchtower I simply felt they were like the bad kings of Isreal or the Pharisees due to the general meanness, the Child abuse issues, the stance on lying about finances (theocratic strategy), and stealing from seniors (widows and orphans).
After 10 years of reading, I doubt the Bible is God's word. Abraham heard voices no one else did....saw things no one else saw.. heard "god," tell him to sacrifice his son. Today, he would be treated as a mental patient...not the founder of a religion.

i'm trying to list all the things jw children are not allowed to do, or are discouraged from doing.
As a kid I wanted to be in band, learn to read music, and play an instrument. NOPE. "to much time, Christmas music, and bad worldly associations".
I wanted to join the Scouts, learn Karate, Fly fishing, and Scuba Diving. Big NO.
I wanted to go to the state college. NO.
But I HAD to carry the suicide card on me at all times (no blood card), publicly sit for the national anthem, and not salute the flag. (resulted in some beatings).
I couldn't attend dances, classmates' parties, date, or my prom.

a team of lawyers has released the results of its survey on alleged child abuse by members of the jehovah's witnesses religious group in japan.. the team held a news conference in tokyo on monday.
it provides legal support to former members of the group as well as to children of its members.. the lawyers conducted the survey, following the publishing of the health and welfare ministry guidelines last year about child abuse related to parents' religious beliefs.
a total of 560 people responded.. the survey shows 81 percent of the respondents said they had cards indicating they desired to refuse blood transfusions.. the ministry's guidelines state that parents' refusal of medical treatments for children on religious grounds amounts to neglect --- a form of abuse.. the lawyers said investigations are necessary to find how many people died from refusing blood transfusions, and how many of them were children.. the survey also shows 92 percent of the respondents experienced whipping, 96 percent were banned from school activities, and 93 percent were forced to limit their human relations.. the lawyers said many of the children experienced physical and mental abuse, which afterward led to problems such as loneliness, sense of alienation and a lack of self-esteem.
I remember as an Elder book and study conductor being instructed by HQ in a letter to annually check publisher's cards.
It was used as an ID at a few conventions to receive JW-only publications.

My dad a non JW, was glued to the TV. He loved Kennedy. A Guadalcanal WW2 vet he had the highest regard for ballsy PT boat crews. Very sad and upset.
Mom, a JW, said "It's just a sign of the times...the Russians did it! Armageddon is around the corner!" Not sad.

in the uk, charities must be transparent and publish their annual financial information, but in the u.s. it's not so clear..
I wasted two days pulling state and federal filings for some Watchtower corporations. It was wasted because I realized they were phony. Some of the entries were simply copied from previous years...impossible...therefore BS.
Yes, they filed the forms...but the numbers were bogus...hiding behind freedom of Religion...a middle finger to the state and IRS.
