  by now, it should be painfully obvious that we live in a post tonny morris era where the floods of organizational changes have become possible and a new version of the religion, some have called it warchtower 2.0 is emerging with a soft approach to disfellowshipping practices across the board for all those sinners.

  nevertheless 3 groups of people will still be targeted for harsh excommunication, we know the first two well :csa perpetrators and apostates.

  Watchtower invented the entire blueprint. The original "Family book" added "Spiritual endangerment" as a reason for "scriptural" divorce and re-marriage.

  What is spiritual endangerment? Well, it was a nebulous excuse...that became whatever people and a couple of elders decided it was.

  Perhaps someone yelled. Missed meetings. Rolled their eyes about "new light". Want sex a particular way...or frequency? Didn't earn enough money? Worked too much or too little? Was not a spiritual leader?

  A divorce or separation would follow. The "endangerer" eventually got lonely or horny, dated, was simply alone for a few hours with someone, or had sex...and voila! The one claiming they had been " endangered" became "scripturally free" with the congregation elders and service departments' blessings to remarry.

  When did JWS start disfellowshipping and why?

  i know this question has been discussed, but i can't find the topic i was just looking at, so.... one thing about this is that the other posters here didn't mention, that i noticed anyway, that there was this member of the gb in the 40s and early 50s (but possibly during rutherford) who was at odds with rutherford or knorr, and they wanted to do away with them, so they accused (falsely) that person, then they declared that the punishment for that sin was something they invented, or at least once iteration of, what we know as the modern disfellowshipping practice among jws.. so, that is why they invented that doctrine; they.

  When Rutherford grabbed the reigns of Watchtower upon Russel's death he kicked scads of Bethelites and others to the curb, accusing anyone who wouldn't accept him, as an "Apostate". Effectively "Disfellowshipping" them 1916-17.

  Both 3rd gen's mom and mine told stories of wild stuff going on in the 1940s by even the Circuit Overseers that instituted the formal policies in the beginning of the 1950s by Knorr (1952?).

  Is there really a Bible rule against sex without marriage?

  regarding the poster from jw headquarters, who claimed that the gb would eventually loosen the rules regarding sex.

  the question is, is there really a bible rule explicitly prohibiting sex without marriage?

  because this would be the only possible reason why loosening those rules would even come up in a discussion.

  Will they- gb 3.0 be tossing the 1972 (ish) Ray Franz research on "porneia"?

  Returning to the 1960s view of "petting" vs "heavy petting"?

  More tolerant of Gays and NPGs...non-practicing gays(trying at least)? As in pre-1975 ish Bethel and GB 1.0 (Chitty, etc)?

  The "10 Year Plan" - What is the realistic outcome?

  i will paste the text from my 10 year plan post and i will critically evaluate how i feel things will turn out.

  i will add bold italics my thoughts.. the governing body has a 10-year marketing plan to remodel the organization to become closer to a mainstream christian religion.

  Alternative Military Service is Now OK

  but i wonder: how many jw's went to prison during the years that the wt did not allow them to perform community service as an alternative to military service?.

  The wife and I both have Uncles who were jailed for refusing alternative service or the military.

  Both men were quiet introverts who the prison experience and rapes broke. Both were forever felons who suffered financially for a lifetime.

  Just another case of "holy spirit" confusion.

  Well, in the Christian Greek scriptures, it specifies "Servants were to be husbands of only one wife". So.... if you have multiple wives...no position for you. :)

  So if the Elders want to appoint someone, it is a no-go if he is a fundamental Morman I guess.....

  the basic gist of it is to stop wasting time in your small, dwindling pool of current customers when there’s a wide open ocean of untapped customers out there.

  to achieve this leap is to adapt or transition to a more appealing package of your current business model to attract the masses.

  As far as a strange guy with a beard and cigar...I don't doubt it. I saw some strange characters. Usually JW relatives offering Watchtower something free or at a great discount. Donations are always welcomed at Bethel.

  In the 70s I took a massive pay cut to go to Bethel. Glad I had savings.

  My Bethel pay per month was what I got PER HOUR on the outside.

  My travel allowance was exact subway costs for 3 RT fares per week.

  Way below minimum wage and a shared bedroom.

  It appeared the medical doctors and a few specialists had greater incomes though, because they supported families.
