When I googled this, another local case of a Pedo elder was added the next day! Kudos to this State's Attorney General for wrapping these cases together.

Westmoreland County man charged in latest Jehovah's Witness sex abuse case

a westmoreland man was recently charged with sexually assaulting and molesting a young girl by a statewide grand jury that has been investigating sex abuse among elders in jehovah’s witness congregations across pennsylvania for years.. ronald w. mangone, 69, who was a member of the jehovah’s witness congregation in new kensington, allegedly abused the girl beginning at the age of 6 from 1991 to 1994, according to a police complaint filed april 2.. a second girl also was allegedly sexually abused by the suspect in the late 1980s, but law enforcement agents say they were unable to charge him because the statute of limitations had expired.. mr. mangone now faces three felony charges and five misdemeanor charges for sexually assaulting and endangering a minor.
he is the latest suspect in a wide-ranging investigation that has so far led to the arrests of at least 14 others from jehovah’s witness congregations on similar charges since 2022.. “what's going on in pennsylvania has much much broader implications,” said mark o’donnell, a longtime advocate for sexual assault victims in the congregations and a witness who has appeared before the grand jury.. the sweeping investigation in pennsylvania, launched by the attorney general’s office in 2019, is the first to target jehovah’s witness groups in what has been described by some law enforcement agents as a longstanding problem within the religious organization... “it’s groundbreaking,” mr. o’donnell said.

kids now days have access to all of the watchtower's lies, manipulations, unnecessary deaths, flip flops, rejection of jesus as mediator etc, etc.

Quite the shift for WTB&T Society.
In the early 60s, as a little kid, we had a green songbook with some older more traditional mainstream songs. We also used the American Standard and King James Bibles at times.
JWs could informally "speculate" about bible subjects.
It gradually became more and more culty, reflected even in the music.
Eventually, only songs written by an exemplary JW could be used.
Is this a move towards mainstreaming?

At the height of the Vietnam War(60s), a few kids in my grammar school had Dads serving in Vietnam. They were incensed over the flag salute and national anthem, called me a "commie", and tried to beat me up multiple times. I became handy with my fists as a result. The principal was in a hard place on religious rights versus kids traumatized by missing dads...on multiple occasions, he simply asked everyone to apologize and promise not to do it again.
By the 70s it stopped because most kids became anti-war in high school.
It hurt my relationship with my "worldly" father who was a WW2 and Korea Veteran.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while
by slimboyfat ini’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.
so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.
maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

imagine saying that today with the common use of doorbell cameras and the squatting problem .

lol. Years ago, we had a car group working in Atherton CA (Huge Silicon Valley Estates).
I remember some JWs talking about "this being my home after the big A"....the homeowner was quietly gardening behind a brick wall and called them on it. They stammered, attempting to reply. :)
I laughed my ass off about it at the coffee shop later.

Watchtower hires off-duty law enforcement
by Diogenesister inan indignant law enforcement officer wrote kim & mikey to let them know watchtower had placed an advertisement on a facebook page dedicated to law enforcement staff only, looking to hire a fully uniformed and armed officer at $35 per hour.
the commission was for the memorial in a specified texan venue.. the officer was particularly miffed at the hypocrisy considering the terrible way law enforcement was portrayed in the 2018 convention video, where the jws had been herded into a field to be slaughtered by a large group of officers.
not to mention the fact they are only too willing to call police for their own protection, yet won’t do so when it comes to protecting children from potential or actual abuse.. https://youtu.be/-rpcsztnvyo.

lol. I remember in the mid-70s when the NO COPS rules were made. Headquarters decided if they did not resign, they would lose all congregation privileges.
I grew up with lots of JW cops in my hometown. City Police, Deputy Sheriffs, State Police, and even an FBI agent. A few had to walk away from years of service and great pensions to remain Elders. Some stepped down from JW positions.
The Society had no issues asking for "favors" from them when it suited them. Armed Guarding Convention cash was one.
One real turnabout was that a "respected" married Elder was busted by an EX servant, now publisher, Detective, for molesting some young boys in a nearby Congregation.
That's Watchtower...looking good on the outside, but filthy inside.
Looking back, I think GB 1.0 Jaracz was behind that policy (a suspected child molester).
