Warning! If you are an Elder or a family member of one, surfing this site..these newer legal cases should give you pause. Your family and future financial well-being may be at risk from the actions of a fellow elder or Watchtower policy flip-flop. "Vicarious liability, also known as imputed liability, is a legal principle where a person or entity (the "principal") is held liable for the tortious (wrongful) acts of another person (the "agent") due to a specific relationship between them, such as employer-employee. New GB member Judy Jedele critizing Job's "humility" while wearing $20,000 Rolex, gold cuff links, coloured suit. Incredible!
by WingCommander ini swear, you can't make this shit up!
for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.
" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

Did Watchtower Really Teach That Armageddon Was Coming in 1954?
by Jerome56 inin the march 2025 jw broadcast david splane in his morning worship talk mentioned that "some thought" that armageddon would come 40 years after 1914. such statements are usually meant to shift the blame of their own false predictions on to their members for speculating.
however, i was unable to find anything in print showing that such a thing was indeed taught by the society.
was this really a thing?.

Before Mom died she recounted over a half dozen Armageddon dates many JWs speculated about in the 30s and before.. She said many thought WW2 was the beginning of the great tribulation.

The Share of Religious Americans will continue to decline- New York Times. Why? New Pew Study
by Balaamsass2 inlocally, in northern california i have seen/heard a drop in jw and mainstream church attendance especially in person attendance.
(exception: a new creepy local new-age charismatic/pentecostal group: "bethel church" 11,000 and growing mega church(kundalini yoga/sex combined with prosperity gospel, trumpism, guns, rock music, dancing, glitter, speaking in tongues, and faith healing).. for me this paragraph sums it up regarding jehovah's witnesses: " ...smith described organized religion to me as having become a “polluted” idea in the american mainstream, because of the publicity around sex abuse scandals and financial malfeasance in many different faiths in the ’80s and ’90s as millennials came of age.
“the scandals violated most of the virtues believed to make religion good,” smith wrote.

I have recently been looking at the ex-jw Reddit site. Many of the posts show 2k readers online. Wow. I am surprised at how many people the governing body videos turn off. The self-assuming nature of the GB is one of the most effective things turning people away from JWs now. A fountain of toxic soup of mean self-righteousness, pride, abuse, and greed$$ straight from the GB mouths at headquarters.

Locally, in northern California I have seen/heard a drop in JW and mainstream church attendance especially in person attendance. (Exception: a new creepy local new-age charismatic/Pentecostal group: "Bethel church" 11,000 and growing mega church(Kundalini yoga/sex combined with prosperity gospel, Trumpism, guns, rock music, dancing, glitter, speaking in tongues, and faith healing).
“They demonstrated that religion did not make people moral, did not help its own leaders cope with life’s challenges and temptations, did not promote social peace and harmony and did not model virtuous behavior for others.” Those scandals helped destroy religion’s credibility — and led to millennials no longer believing that religion could be a “glue” that held America together, Smith’s research showed. I worked as a Jeweler's apprentice in my youth. How the hands move, and sound, combined with a gold test is the standard.
Regardless, WHY would a genuine follower of Christ..make a "showy display" of wealth...or even a pretend one? How fitting if these objects were fake...just like Watchtower? :)

Telling People You Used To Be A JW
by JW_Rogue insince i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.
they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.
i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.

DOC - ditto.
I can imagine the average employer thinking..." just how stupid/gullible is this employee? " " How long did it take to wake up? " "It would be best not to consider his/her decision-making abilities."

Why do I separate Jehovah's Witnesses from Watchtower? "Jehovah's Witnesses" are the abused "sheep", the poor everyday suckers and "marks" of the 140 + - year old Watchtower Corporate officers and Governing Body members hiding behind the CULT curtain.

exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

I love this post:"..
- Know a sister that is a busybody and drives you nuts? Write a letter to 25 Columbia Heights asking for an application to become a Female Elders Assistant that GJ described. Include the name of the congregation with a comment that you personally are away of many ways the elders need help. Sign her name on the letter and send it in."
I remember reading a number of letters local publishers mailed to headquarters. Publishers are unaware copies of their letters are mailed back to the local congregation, passed around the local elder body and discussed. - lol. Imagine a "Question" " "signed/sent" by a local self righteous pain in the ass elder, regarding his embarrassing "compulsion"..ie: porn, sexual picadillo, crime, doubts... :)
