1/2 of the Jehovah’s witnesses have gone
by hoser inthere are 1/2 of the jehovah’s witnesses that there were 30 years ago in my area.
some have left but i think that many have died and none of their kids stayed being jehovah’s witnesses.
7 congregations have been dissolved over the years.

About half of the California hall JW attendees I knew are gone (dead, dfed, now pomo) and not replaced with converts or kids. Entire congregations in the Silicon Valley have been dissolved, with halls sold and circuit sections (a,b,c) combined.
When surfing old JW congregation members, friends, and JW family Facebook profiles, I am surprised at how many now have birthday, Christmas, and political subject family photos of themselves and their now non JW kids.

only time will tell...."a pittsburgh-area member of the jehovah's witnesses has been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing two children, state prosecutors announced on friday.the pennsylvania attorney general said 67-year-old marc brown of allegheny county was given 12 to 30 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and related misdemeanors.. brown was one of five men charged after the 49th statewide investigating grand jury heard testimony about several jehovah's witnesses members who sexually assaulted children.. prosecutors said brown was a member of the congregation when he assaulted the children dozens of times between 2004 and 2006. according to testimony that grand jurors heard, brown groped the children, watched them shower and would sneak into a bedroom at night to assault them.

by Balaamsass2 inlocally, in northern california i have seen/heard a drop in jw and mainstream church attendance especially in person attendance.
(exception: a new creepy local new-age charismatic/pentecostal group: "bethel church" 11,000 and growing mega church(kundalini yoga/sex combined with prosperity gospel, trumpism, guns, rock music, dancing, glitter, speaking in tongues, and faith healing).. for me this paragraph sums it up regarding jehovah's witnesses: " ...smith described organized religion to me as having become a “polluted” idea in the american mainstream, because of the publicity around sex abuse scandals and financial malfeasance in many different faiths in the ’80s and ’90s as millennials came of age.
“the scandals violated most of the virtues believed to make religion good,” smith wrote.

even jesus, while on earth, did not know the ‘day and hour.’ he later told the apostles that jehovah, who is the great timekeeper, keeps the timing of certain events ‘in his own jurisdiction,’ or authority.

Going by Watchtower's two witness rule....how do we know this was an actual prophecy? An old man has a strange dream while incarcerated on an island with hallucinogenic plants. What makes his dream inspired? Says who?

Is jehovahs-witness.com legitimately and reliably independent of WTB&TS and peripheral, aligned entities?
by great-trivialization ini am new to this forum and uncertain that this is legitimately and entirely independent of conniving jw controllers or the wtb&ts and its related entities.
markers like the use of jw.org in the forum description and the policies seem controlled/controlling vs other xjw forums.
this is not an accusation, it is an attempt to know enough to be comfortable with motives of the ownership and controllers of the forum.

Again, this site is independent of Watchtower.
Based on a conversation with a relative who was a member of the Bethel legal dept., multiple Bethelies were assigned to monitor this type of site. (I can only imagine the cognitive dissonance this would cause.) :) lol -imagine the turnover!

Why is there nothing known about the Jehovah’s Witness brother WOLFGANG OTT which raped 6 women in Austria and killed 4 of them?

only the places where he rapped and murdert are known nothing else.
normally when somebody like him kills and murders everything gets public, which school was he, what was kn his mind and so on and so on.

Yes, I remember endless vocabulary changes from the early 60s on.
As a kid, Mom said it was to confuse "outsiders, government agents and apostates" during the coming tribulation.
In the 70s, Ray Franz told me some issues occurred during translation into third-world languages causing unwelcome persecution.
I have heard all kinds of explanations and changes in the last 70 years.
Perhaps it is simply tribal jargon, a way for group members to feel special and more like insiders. Tradesmen have done this over the centuries.
