let's start with a very basic common sense question.. if you needed surgery would you go to a graduate of medical school who had been practicing for awhile,.

or would you go to an amateur who told you god would be telling him how to peform surgery?.

The more I see videos of the GB the more absurd they appear. This has got to be the effect on more than just me. They look weird, they talk weird, their ideas are stupid and they are arrogant. No one is noticing this ?

This is the age when public exposure will destroy you. We are constantly evaluating public figures, look at how Romney destroyed himself and how severly mocked Obama is, you get on camera and its hard to survive. The public is obsessed with image. There is not a Bill Clinton among them. They make Prince Charles look handsome. And their speeches are like some North Korean dictator.

The GB is not attractive, or elequant or amusing, or interesting to listen to and they are badly dressed and nobody you would even vote in for dogcatcher. How far do you think they would get in any level of politics ? No PR campaign can help these guys, and now they have exposed themselves on camera, there is no turning back or they will be accused of hiding out.

Creating suspicion and paranoia is the stock and trade of the WT. This will backfire on them because each witness depending on how stupid and really ignorant they are, has their own version of the "truth" in their head and they never think anyone is as good as they are. Witnesses make up little rules on top of the rules. Hopefully this rebellious underground they speak of, is many many people.

runforever- NOT Fake do you have a TV ? Watch the news and if posssible Al Jezeer the Arab station. These guys are medieval as much of Islam is. If they try that in the US they will soon find out how heavily armed the average American citizen actually is.

Is it a right or is it right?

in light of the recent posts about the little boy taken out of hospital in southampton by his parents and is now somewhere between france and spain, i started reading up some of the newspaper article links posted.

i was especially interested by the comments posted.. note my surprise, and yes horror, to see a large number of people supporting the parents decision.

how the parents are fully in their rights to do such a thing, going as far as to imply they 'own' their child, so they can do what they want.. i know this is a very sensitive subject and i'm probably opening a can of worms, but i think it needs saying.

This is a very rare and unusual brain tumor. The man seeks alternate and very high tech laser treatment. The Canadian government has supported such cases who sought special and unusual buy scientific treatment by legitimate hospitals in other countries.

It distresses me when some judges allow teens to kill themselves b/c of the blood doctrine.

This confuse me as well. How can the law deem a child a "minor" and recoginize they are not capable of consent, in all other matters, contracts, marriage or civil and not allowed to drink alcohol or smoke cigarrettes to protect them and not allowed to join the army because they are too young ? and then allow this same child to take his own life ? The argument for legal and State protection of children is that they do not have the brain development to make an informed decision because they are children.

JW's and home schooling?

i don't wish to offend any that are teaching their kids at home, but today i was again confronted by a situation where a jw family were home schooling.

the kids had little structure to their routine and without putting the mum down, she was no teacher in an academic sense.. the subject is close to my heart because my parents who are witnesses, took my younger brothers out of school and home tutored them.

the were subjected to below standard education and limited in social skills, particularly as my parents are crap at these skills themselves.. i have grown to hate home schooling except in the situation of medical or logistical situations.. what are your comments good or bad and do you think the option to home school is abused by the witness community?.

If you are living an a neighborhood with lousy schools its probably because your parents have no education or skills and you were home schooled. There are great schools everywhere. Find one and move into the district.

Home Schooling versus Public School

(1) Public School teachers in th US and Canada need a 4 -5 year university degree with a "teachable major" as a result, your child is exposed to teachers with specialized areas of expertise in science, math, technology, history, literature, social science.

(2) Mothers/parents who think they are "doing a great job", may have no education let alone university and they cannot evaluate the quality of what they are doing, since unlike credentialed, licensed, teachers, who have to pass exams on their competence, home schoolers are not held to academic standards or methods. And there is noone to observe what they are doing.

(3) Mothers/parents are limited to their own opinions, life views, and understanding of subject matter. Creating an effective lesson plan is not the same as setting up play activities and telling stories.

(4) Schools have rooms full of computer equipment, science labs, big libraries, playing fields, continual social interaction, musical instruments and choirs, and the advantage of more than one teacher, this is a huge advantage. There are also field trips, groups discussions, group projects, where children learn to work effectively in teams. And don't forget Drama classes and school plays.

(5) Schools encourage children to plan ahead, to investigate options, to see many points of view.

(6) Home schooler who are also JW's have a narrow world view, where the governing body is to be obeyed and life does not require planning since the WT teaches your "real life" will only happen in the "New System".No home schooling JW is preparing their child for university.

Be a home schooler; If you have a Master's degree, and enroll your children in many group activities, and give them music lessons, dance lessons, art lessons, skiing lessons, swimming lessons, send them to science camp, take them on field trips, set up math and science projects, and have them in the local Theater Group and involved in acting in plays. And if you yourself are knowledgable about HTML computer languages and protocals and understand how to use Adobe Creative Suite, and Animation software, and have a WACOM tablet and a pigment printer as well as art supplies and a fully stocked library with all the literary classics and history books and the latest science books, and you have lots of musical instruments and know how to teach them to play an instrument and read music, then by all means Home School.
