It really was 6 hours.
We were on a 12 hour road trip.
how many of us would get up and "start your time" by 6:00am or earlier?.
i sure did my fair share and convinced many others to join me semi-regularly.. we'd stand out in front of "somewhere/something", you remember?.
donut shop, 7-11, liquor store ( genius ), driving to laundry rooms or coin-op's, etc... anyway, this past sunday i was pumping fuel for the long trip home early in the morning out of l.a. to norcal, when i spotted a young, energetic version of myself 20 years ago.

Anyway, this past Sunday I was pumping fuel for the long trip home early in the morning out of L.A. to NorCal, when I spotted a young, energetic version of myself 20 years ago. All zealous and fearless. 25 year oldish witness with bible and JW.ORG banner sticking out of the top of it.
It was like a little billboard poking right out of his bible ( from god )
So he engages me.
I immediately interrupt, telling him that I was a JW for 25 years and no longer attend, not DF'd or DA'd. I pointed to my wife in the truck and mentioned that she still attends all of the meetings. He sort of sputtered. It broke his rhythm.
I told him about Watchtower being a ten year member of the UN. He wanted to know where I heard that. I told him I read the public notice issued by the UN due to so many inquiries on the matter. He said I should know better. He said it's all lies and I should know better.
Then it got super weird.
He's backing away while scolding me, smiling and waving to my wife as she waves back.
Then more cowardly denial as I mention that we were studying the Revelation book while we were members of the UN. He excused himself and gave one more "thumbs up" to my wife. She waved back.
How cute!
So, I turn and finish pumping.
My wife didn't ask me what I said to him for nearly 6 hours.
It was amusing.

Love to hear some experiences
1. a shitty start we don't have to wait more than 4 verses of genesis 6 to put our feet in a big stinky bullshit :.
consequently, jehovah saw that mans wickedness was great on the earth and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.
jehovah regretted that he had made men on the earth, and his heart was saddened.
Most JW's are not even aware of the finer details of the flood account.
The basic FACT that there simply is not, nor has there ever been enough water to actually cover even the shortest hills of the entire earth.
It's total fantasy and I am ashamed that I believed and taught it as truth for as long as I did.
wow!
i haven't been here for a while and everything's changed!.
anyway i've been really noticing how at every meeting it seems there's yet another new thing that needs funding or another reminder to donate.
It started as a publishing company with unpaid salesmen.
Never forget that.
what if the almighty gb announced that all shunning will cease, and next minute all the people who have shunned you start calling and texting saying "hi, we're baaaack, we can talk to you now!".
.
what would do you do, and how do you react?.
Like an international amnesty to boost membership, attendance and ultimately, donations?
Wouldn't that be something.
missing a lot of the oldies and goodies -- is this site so new, no one has signed on yet?
i am confused... but then, i will have to wait and see what happens.. somehow - change is not the best option but we adjust..have most of the users gone to other locations?.
tl.
I like the new format.
Great place to recover our sanity.
Thanks!
hi, i'm a newbie around here.
i've been reading the posts, but reluctant to step out of my safe zone.
i definitely see how coming to a safe place to ask questions, vent, etc.
Reconnecting with fellow faders, disassociated or disfellowshipped that were previously your JW friends can be very comforting.
Just knowing life is not over can be a big boost.
I went to a meet up this past summer.
That was very productive.
remember getting the sense that when armageddon final comes everyone will "have to know" that it was jehovah?.
the big "told you so".
probably on christmas to boot.... .
So, my wife and I are at relatives for Christmas for the first time in our 18 year marriage and 25 years for me.
No Armageddon.
Dodged that bullet.
Maybe next year...

Also saw the movie today with the wife.
Still digesting, as we have known her for about 15 years.
She's in the film as a cameo.
Older woman sitting in the background on the park bench.
We attended the bookstudy and meetings for service in her home.
With her daughter Jane, too.
She never told us anything about how rough her life was.
