Nina:
Sure sounds like an interesting place to visit. Of course they probably would not ask me to come back, especially if I step out for a smoke break. Perhaps even after I tell them I will only live with men not marry them. I have no problems being honest, too bad religion isn't that way.
I have this friend who is a JW... he's going thru a divorce right now
Cheers Darlin'

Incredible Teachings of Muhammed
By Abdullah Al Araby
Jump to: Women Sex and Marriage Human Rights Eternal Security Medicine Miscellaneous Mohammed's teachings are included in what is called "Hadith." The "Hadith" is a record of Mohammed's words and deeds according to his wives, relatives, and companions. Next to the Quran, it is the most important part of Islamic law; its teachings are just as binding. The Hadith is recorded in many books, and by many people, not all of them are agreed upon by all Muslims. All of our quotes here are from "Sahih Al-Bukhari" which comes in nine volumes, and contains thousands of Hadiths. Al Bukhari is accepted by most Muslims as the authentic words of Mohammed. Because of the limited space, we will mention here just a few examples. Our purpose is to give the reader a taste of the teachings of Mohammed, the prophet of Islam. Some of these teachings may shock you, and some may amuse you. Others may simply leave you mystified.1. WOMEN

Is the Koran an Inspired Book?
by Happythoughts infrom what i gather--in my opinion--here i go again the book is very negative; it's obsessed with the punishment in the hereafter for the "unbelievers" (an oft cited word in the book) and speaks of them being : chastised in the fire.
" i lost count of the number of times this phrase is used.
the book does not present a loving god--but a vindictive harsh one, more concerned with punishment than life and forgiveness.

I am not a JW BUT am interested in learning more about all religions. I have no desire to become involved with any such religion; I seek the truth, as I’m sure most people do. You do not find truth by harming others. The sad thing is that most people have been taught by false religion and have become bitter in the process.

Much of the Book of Job reflects the opinions of the speakers but not necessarily God. Moab was a wicked nation that was in constant battle with Israel, God's chosen people. The scriptures in Jeremiah reflect the punishment that Babylon meted out to Israel because of their gross apostasy from God. While God didn't cause it, he did allow the Babylonians to chastise his people. The scripture in Ezekiel represents the severe famine that would come upon Jerusalem when they were attacked by Babylon, God was foretelling that they would turn to cannibalism because of a lack of food but he wasn't sanctioning the practice.
Job is a book of perspective and the others have to be taken in context. I never said that God doesn't judge--and sometimes severely. My point was contrasting that aspect with his personality with the others: namely, love, mercy, forgiveness and patience. The scripture says: "Mercy triumphs over judgment." But this is not to be taken to mean that God will forever wink at unrighteousness and do nothing. He will act, but only after giving everyone ample time to change. But if they refuse, he will judge--not his preference, but because he is a God of justice he cannot allow things to continue in the world as they are.
God is first about love and forgiveness, second about judgment. Judgment is what he does when he is left with no other choices.

Yes, there are: some have argued that those examples are genocied and therefore have attacked the Bible and God on the point. The Koran and Bible talk about some of the same things. The difference is the context, overall message, and source of material. For example, the Koran doesn't teach that Jesus was the son of God, nor that he had to die for our sins. This is a direct contradiction of the scriptures and contradicts everything about the Old Testament. The Koran also teaches that the Jews were never God's chosen people, that the Arabs were instead. The Koran talks a great deal about punishment, infidels, and the "fire that burns" perpetually. The Bible, while it talks about judgment and unbelievers, tempers it's message with God's love, forgiveness and the provision he's made through his son. The Bible speaks of God's love far more than anything else.

The Bible declares: "It is Jehovah your God you must worship and it is to him alone you must render sacred service." This should be our desire, even if it mean respectfully disagreeing with men appointed by Jehovah--for no less an authority than the Apostle Peter erred on one occasion (and interestingly, on the issue of who & what Jehovah found acceptable) and was corrected.
I for one hope to be accepted by God's people for who I am. If not, then God's people have ceased becoming subjects and have instead become the judge. That is a very dangerous position to be in: to presume to speak for Jehovah on matters of judgment and favor. I see so much of that today, if not explicityly than in attitudes. Can't we be humble people, love Jehovah and each other and our neighbors, and leave the rest to the wonderful God we worship?
