Whatever the case i don't see 'Paradise' when i get told to be subservient to other men, which their obviously trying to tout as something that's going to happen if their BS were ever to come about. Sounds more like HELL!!!

Has anyone else heard this about the GB??
by FeelingFree inok so me and my husband were talking to his mum again about why we are no longer going to meetings and got into another pointless discussion where she feels he needs to talk to an elder about his issue's blah, blah, blah... round and round it went...... the thing i wanted to ask was if anybody had heard that there wont be any gb after these one's die??
this is something she mentioned today and we have never heard of this ever.
so it means no more will be appointed and they will just die off!

It just sounded so out there that there must have been an explanation for it. That makes sense sir82. I'm surprised she didn't go into the overlap bs to be honest in order to back up her claim

I thought there was no way this could be right. I'd never heard of this. So as her son I gave her this question to ponder: hypothetically speaking if this is taught and in years to come you find that all the governing body are dead and there's no one to replace them, and the new system still hasn't arrived, what then?
After a rather long pause she said we'll their training up a lot of people so I guess I would have to wait for direction from the ones left in charge!
I then said yes but their not the ones apparently prophesied to give spiritual food at the proper time. No answer lol.
We did come to the agreement that we could have an open discussion and that any decision I make is going to be one that won't affect the family adversely. I did say that that would most likely mean not speaking with any elder.
I found it rather interesting that she was the one to mention fading away quietly and she also made a statement to the affect that as long as we don't discuss our issues with anyone else we couldn't be dfed for apostasy. I think someone's been talking to some eldubs.

JW's and depression
by FeelingFree ini was wondering how many of you suffered badly with depression when you were in "the truth" and if you feel your depression was related to being part of the organisation?
are you better now you have left or still have issue's?
whatever your experience's i would be very intrested to know (if you feel you can talk about it.).

Sorry to hear about your dad somedude.!!! I can totally relate as my father was in a similar situation and ended up taking his life when I was 17. However he was never a JW, and from what I've heard from my grandmother he'd had issues from an early age. Mental illness is such a difficult thing to live with. In any case someone must be in a sorely desperate state to end their lives and leave their family behind. My heart goes out to anyone suffering with it or has a family member who suffers.

My Lecturer booby-trapped me - Patterns of Authority in Early Christian Communities
by fulltimestudent ini have a 2500 word essay due next tuesday, so i shall be invoiced until then.
and, i already have been turned upside down.. even though there are set topics for the main essay, it is possible to negotiate for an essay on a subject of personal interest.
i'd been thinking about the development of leadership in the early christian congregation, so i asked my lecturer, if i could write on that.. he asked me for a brief outline of what i was thinking, so i reviewed my early thoughts - that jesus primarily had left no clear instructions (because he was expecting divine intervention and the restoration of the kingdom), but he had trained his disciples in missionary work - which i interpreted to mean that jesus expected his own ministry to continue, to provide the judean people with continued guidance, modelled on what he (jesus) had done.. but as christianity developed (and the expectations of jesus remained unfulfilled) a different model developed and i wanted to explore the model we see developing in the nt (think pauline) and where that model came from and then transformed into the monarchial model with bishops.. .

You can add me to the list of those eager to read your essay. This is one of the most interesting topics I've come across since joining Jwn.

Elders, apostasy and disfellowshipping issue's - thoughts please
by FeelingFree inok so... when i was talking to my mil about why i no longer wanted to be a witness she kept trying to convience me that i needed to speak to the elders.
i said from the word go i didn't feel the need to as my mind was already made up and no one could change it.
i also said if the elders new all my reasons for leaving they would view me as an apostate and i would get disfellowshipped.

Wow I think steve needs to re-read the OP! The point was clearly made that Ff couldn't give a rats arse if she gets dfd or not ,so to speak of being above dfing seems rather unfounded if not a little disrespectful.

CO's visit ends with a bombshell!!!
by nowwhat? inat the end of his final talk he said of the gb: they are telling the higher ups , "start getting ready we're not going to be around much longer!
" and we expect the angels to release the four winds any day now!
" my first thought was why are you building a corporate country club then?!

@watcher - yes a hope for the future you are apparently putting in doubt by being on a site such as this one, at least according to the 7 apostles :p

The funny thing is that things have played out precisely in the same way as for many others on here. Everything from the love bombing to the saying that the GB are imperfect and we need to leave things in Jehovahs hands blah blah blah. As a group they are so predictable it's ridiculous.
As 'head of the house 'lol, I decree that we shall not engage these self appointed shepturds on any of our issues.
