ok so... when i was talking to my mil about why i no longer wanted to be a witness she kept trying to convience me that i needed to speak to the elders.
i said from the word go i didn't feel the need to as my mind was already made up and no one could change it.
i also said if the elders new all my reasons for leaving they would view me as an apostate and i would get disfellowshipped.
The funny thing is that things have played out precisely in the same way as for many others on here. Everything from the love bombing to the saying that the GB are imperfect and we need to leave things in Jehovahs hands blah blah blah. As a group they are so predictable it's ridiculous.
As 'head of the house 'lol, I decree that we shall not engage these self appointed shepturds on any of our issues.

Phizzy as far as i'm aware they have always been the ones to pass on the publisher card to the new congregation, but obviously if no new congregation is given i guess it continues gathering dust at your old one.
It is worth noting though that throughout the EU the Data protection act is enforced with quite substantial penalties if your personal information is not either handed over or destroyed in it's entirety upon request. The Banks have found themselves on the wrong side of the law a few times in this regard by leaving shredded customer information in bin bags in the street rather than disposing of them in the proper way.

In any case the data protection act in the UK dictates that ANY data held on an individual has to be A. Be consented to be held by an individual and B. Be handed over or destroyed on request of said individual.

I made this point to a family member recently who said that Jehovah gives physical protection. I called BS on that and gave them the example of JW'S in the philipines who got killed in their own KH's whilst other survived the typhoon hyian. (I'd just recently watched a brilliant video by Cedars about this and the absurd thought by a GB member that Jehovah had manipulated/protected them from adverse weather that summer for them to complete all their building projects, yet he refused to protect the lives of devout followers)
after knowing ttatt for many years now...i had made up my mind long ago that after 2014, i would no-longer subject myself to the boredom, pain, and frustration of following this cult...the wt...the borg.. so...i made up my mind that since the wtbts/gb makes such a big deal as to the "significance" of the year 1914 and this year 2014, there can be no greater time for me to leave it all behind.
i daydreamed of how awesome and telling it would be if everyone that could ( because i do know that some have personal circumstances of their own, as i did too) would just .... walkout...never to attend/step foot in a kingdom hall from that moment on.. independence day of sorts?

Within 6 weeks of finding out TTATT and having made plans for this summer to be our last convention we've simply stopped going now! Our circumstances allowed us to take this immediate step and were so glad we did. It's been around 5 weeks since our last meeting and we couldn't be happier. We feel a sense of freedom we could only have dreamt of before. We no longer have this sense of guilt and worry about day to day decisions. having recently been posting on a thread about ot moral values , which are not widely "appreciated " to say the least , i have been thinking about our modern morals about sex and reletionships , or more acurately the lack of any sexual morals todays .
i don't think that we are better off as a society which has gone so far to the do want you want , with whom you want and when you want approach to sexual ethics as we have .
i don't think that women are actually liberated by this attitude .
i was baptized at the age of 11. like most of us, my commitment wasnt to honor god but rather i was gang pressed into the service of the wtbts.
and, at such a young age, it was impossible for me to appreciate the enormity of my actions.

i've seen elders over the years openly flaunt "the rules", butt-kiss (the co especially), show favoritism and appoint brothers they like and not appoint brothers that should of been appointed for some trivial reason.
many lord their "power" over the friends in blatant violation of scriptures and watchowers that specifically say that they shouldn't lord themselves over the flock.
they pretty much do what they want!

This is what happened to my older brother. He was reaching out to become an MS in our hall. He was meeting all the requirements but on occasion didn't quite make the 10 hr field service quota. Needless to say others with Elders as fathers got made up rather easily, some who i knew didn't reach more than maybe 5 hrs in service.
