Are we sure that the hall WiFi does not record what sites and apps are downloaded through it?

I've noticed about half my half are using these. Of course there's always the potential for people to be looking at things non jw on them. Are the society going to find a way to police this? It seems to be an area they currently don't have control over? Surely the last thing they want is half the hall playing games, writing emails and reading ebooks while at the meetings?! But could they stop it? And how?
BTW I have to confess to being one of those sneaky types myself! Well the choice is boring watchtower or fabulous new eBook.... No contest!

The sister who did this probably uses her 'wonderful experiences' to encourage others. She's probably been on the platform at the assembly! And her being stopped will of course be the work of the devil(!)

JW wins lawsuit in the UK...

a jehovahs witness who was sacked as a fitness coach after telling a gym member that yoga would allow evil into her body has won a pay out for unfair dismissal.. maciej grochowski, was sacked from his role at the virgin active gym in middleton after several warnings over complaints he was making staff and clients uncomfortable by discussing his beliefs.. he was finally given the boot after writing a series of e-mails to bosses spelling out his religious opinions on issues such as halloween and satanism.. an employment tribunal ruled he was unfairly dismissed as he had not breached the terms of a final warning banning him from discussing religion when it was unwelcome or made others feel uncomfortable.".
"mr grochowski was first warned about his behaviour in june 2011, after several members contacted the gym to see when he was working so they could avoid being there at the same time.

He's probably been boasting at the hall that the gym was his own personal ministry territory. Probably been counting return visits and even bible studies among the clients there. I can think of some in my hall who would do just that!

out of date references at assembly
by purrpurr inat the last district convention i remember feeling really embarrassed by the out of date references made about wars and other issues.
for instance, they talked about the hutus and tootises also the serbs and croatians when they talked about war.
they also talked about dr spock telling people not to smack children.

For instance, they talked about the hutus and tootises also the Serbs and Croatians when they talked about war. They also talked about Dr Spock telling people not to smack children. Every reference they made about the world outside was decades old. Nothing relevant or up to date, it was like the writers of the talks hadn't looked at the outside world for decades!? I was really embarrassed because I thought what would any interested ones in the audience think? Surely they could have referenced the modern day world? Even when the speakers talked about the jw.org website it done in a way that inferred it was just a silly new fangled modern thing that the youngsters were into.

why Jehovah's witnesses? not yaweh witnesses?
by purrpurr inthis i never understood, the publications say that gods name translated from hebrew is yaweh.
why add a whole bunch of letters and vowels that change the sound of the name completely?
i've often thought surely we would gain greater respect on the ministry if we used a name that is historically and verbally accurate?.

Why? This I never understood, the publications say that gods name translated from Hebrew is yaweh. So why not use that name? Why add a whole bunch of letters and vowels that change the sound of the name completely? I've often thought surely we would gain greater respect on the ministry if we used a name that is historically and verbally accurate?
If I changed my name to meow meow rather than purr purr, it wouldn't be the same name would it???

Thanks everyone for your kind messages! I think I first started having alarm bells going off about 8years ago when I read the Jehovah's witness history book that the society published. Up until then I kind of imagined CTR and Rutherford almost receiving visions via the holy spirit etc. But then I read it was just a bunch of them sitting around and debating what they thought the bible was about. Suddenly it wasn't gods direction as much as mans own opinion! However I sat on those doubts like I suspect a lot of us do.
I doubt I will ever be able to leave the jw's as I couldn't bear to loose all my family...

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've been browsing the site for some time as things that the society teach just are not adding up much these days. By exploring some of the threads on here I'm starting to see why.
A brief bio. I am a born in jw. Family are all in the truth and very spiritual. I've been questioning ever since the new light on the 1914 generation. I was there when it was changed in 1995 and to see it change yet again it just seems like the GB are just trying to explain why the new system isn't here yet. Also it seems to me that many are getting disheartened over Armageddon not coming yet and they are leaving. Yet the society says that its good that it hasn't come yet because more people have had the chance to come into the truth but what about the people who are leaving for the same reason?
I'm amazed that I'm posting here. Out of the group of peers I grew up with I'm the only one who hasn't left, been df'd or reproved. Feel rather naughty for even being on this site but none of the wwatchtower pubs are giving me the answers. I'm also not happy that the books that I grew up studying are now out of date? It seems to me that surely gods word stays the same? Oh there's tons of stuff I could list... Anyway nice to meet you all. And please be nice to me I'm just a learner about all this it seems...
