The story of Jonathan and David, is this male bonding or something else?
by James Mixon instart at 1 samuel 18;1-4..now imagine if this story had been about jonathan and a woman.. 1 samuel 20:30..saul calls jonathan a son of a perverse rebellious woman!
the blame for his.
behavior goes first to the mother, who was too soft," or too harsh who perverted his son somehow.. 1 samuel 20:41-42.."they kissed each other and wept with each other".. so was it merely deep friendship or a romantic relationship?.

Yeah even when I was in I always thought that was a homosexaul relationship. Of course the WT would never admit that -

Was Jesus disrespectful to his mother?
by purrpurr inthe famous wedding/ water into wine scene where he basically tells me mother to hop it and that he's nothing to do with her is what i am referring to.. now the wt tries to claim that this is not disrespectful and that jesus says this in a kindly manner which somehow makes it all ok. but then the wt have never been big on respecting women so this probably would make sense to them.. but the fact is that in the ten commandments the jews were commanded to respect their parents, in fact if a child was disrespectful to the parents the parents were to stone the child and... if the parents didn't the tribe were to stone them too.. so by being disrespectful towards his mother jesus was breaking gods law, by not stoning him mary and joseph were breaking gods law and by not stoning them the tribe were breaking gods law.. what do you think?
the wt's explanation of jesus's behaviour never did sit well with me.
do you agree?

Interestingly enough I was watching a BBC documentary about early Christian art and it was pointed out that in the first depictions of Jesus at the wedding feast he is shown using A WAND to turn the water in to wine! A WAND!
Yep the first Christians thought Jesus was some kind of magician!

I've tried questions like that to get my jw family to wake up. But they immediately kick in with "so your saying you don't believe in the truth?!"
It's how they are trained

New Anti Gay Cartoon Video not available in German
by Daniel1555 inthe lesson 22 video or better called anti gay video went viral.. there is another thread that main dutch media covered it in their articles.. i wanted to write to one of the biggest swiss newspapers about it.
that newspaper also covered the controversy about the "meeting" cartoon, where the message is made that if jw children don't listen at the meetings they might get killed finally.. then i realized that it is not available in german.. it is available in so many other languages, like guarani (never heard of that language), but german is missing.. are they afraid to offer it in german?
do they expect too much controversy in germany?.

My experience of Germans is that most would be able to understand a Dutch video. They are very multilingual -

I'm so glad this has got out to the media. Anyone here with media links needs to let them know about this video. The more people that know about their true beliefs the better! -

So can you pray for others that are not JW's ? Or only JW's
by tor1500 ini'm a witness, so i need to know...can we pray for someone that isn't a jw.
reason i ask, once a friend of mine was going for an operation.
i asked an elder could he pray with her before she goes into the hospital.

I've been told off many a time recently when j have prayed (when forced to pray out loud) for non jw's. I was told that Jehovah won't bless them because they don't obey him!
Sounds like a pretty crappy God to me

New Spiritually Weak Label: Not Using Tablet/iPhone
by Doubtfully Yours inwith last night's meeting it became official: here in the states is a must to keep up with 'jehovah's org' that one fully jumps on board with this tablet/iphone crap.. so, now, all of us that up to this point have refused to follow the wtbts in their electronic/wireless revolution will deal with the browbeating from the 'spiritual' ones.. already receiving lots of grief from hubby and rest of the family/close friends when seen at the meetings with paper publications.
damn it!!!
am i alone in this resistance???!!!.

I think this is great, the more jw's who have tablets the better. It's so easy when on a tablet to be secretly reading something else or to be browsing the internet. So there may be no need to listen at all!
I wonder if the elders will soon be instructed to watch out for members who seem to be reading on their tablets instead of listening to the meeting? My exhuse is that my tablet is password protected and needs the screen moved every minute or it will shut down and then I have to log in again just to look up a scripture brother??
There's another perk of the tablet.... Passwords! No more spying on others and their internet habits! It's all secret now!
Also if the elderly ones are getting disenchanted with the big focus on technology then I also think that's a good thing. Never a bad time to wake up and alot of these Cong's have their backbone in the elderly ones, they are also the ones most likely to die and leave money to the WT. If they start to feel that the WT has turned it's back on them so much the better

Are you angry at the people who ignored your abuse?
by purrpurr infollowing on from my privous thread about being beaten.
(which seems to have got the most horrendous stories now, i'm so sorry to all those who suffered in that manner).
i'd like to ask when you think about all those people, jw's, family members etc who knew that you were being beaten/abused and did nothing to stop it are you angry with them about it?.

Ultimately they were your abusers enablers, they made it possible for you to abused. When I think back to my childhood if anyone had taken my mother aside in the early days and told her off for abusing me that might have saved me a lifetime of abuse
For me it's no use saying "oh well that was in the past etc" these people who stood by and did nothing are to my mind as gulity as my mother of the abuse I suffered. Everyone in my Cong knew the hell I went through, sometimes my mother would even boast about it to the other sisters! Yet it was ignored and brushed under the carpet.

Were you beaten as a child?
by purrpurr ini've been confronting my mother with her dubious parenting skills (abuse) of me as a child.
particularly the beatings i would get with the wooden spoon.
not a light smack but hitting me as hard as she could for as long as she could.

I had to tell my mother what paragraph I was planning to answer up on in the WT, then when that paragraphs question was asked my mother would roll up her WT and smack me with it to " make sure I remembered to answer "! I rebelled when I was a teenager and flatly refused to answer at all if she did this
