Thats the thing he went for help and ended up out on his bum, I think they made an example of him to the cong so that it might shock some of them who didn't come forward.
So glad I am not in that maddness anymore.
i haven't been to the hall in quite some time even though all my family are still in and i see some of the witnesses from time to time.
i am not disfellowshipped and don't intend to be as i don't see why they should have the right to stop me talking to my folks.
however one of my friends has just had the big d and is now regretting it.

Thanks, it would be a great help if I could have a read at it. I won't change the world after having read it but at least it provides little bit more mental ammo for me.
Cheers

Hi
I haven't been to the hall in quite some time even though all my family are still in and I see some of the witnesses from time to time. I am not disfellowshipped and don't intend to be as I don't see why they should have the right to stop me talking to my folks. However one of my friends has just had the big D and is now regretting it. When I say regrets it he regrets the fact that he put his hands up came forward, admitted a wrong doing and they have now put him out. He lives on his own has very few friends outside the hall and wants to go back. What he didn't realise is that everyone of his former friends would avoid even looking at him, as he says I am still the same guy as I was last week. He got the big D for getting drunk by the way something I know happens all the tiome in the hall. I was wondering though does anyone have info on how to refute a disfellowshipping? I have looked at the scriptures 2 John, Corinthians 5 etc but I am finding it hard to offer any rebuttle to him on this can anyone help?
Many thanks and apologies for going on so long.

ok non brits, what is your guess????
i shall enquire the answer from a brit shortly.
We are getting into whole new ground here going down the spanked monkey path and I don't want to be breaking any rules this early in my forum career. Other terms similar to this which might shed light are things such as, pumping the porpoise, beatin the meat, beatin the bishop, 5 knuckle shuffle...etc, etc, hopefully you get the picture now.
Sorry if any offence was caused.

At halloween time in Scotland it is traditional to give the kids Monkey Nuts in their wee goody bags, needles to say these are the last thing they eat.
As for Spanking the monkey this is something I wouldn't recommend doing in front of the kids :-)
i never actually lied about the number of hours i put in, but i was extremely creative in how i counted them!
this, of course, was born of an intense hatred and loathing for the "work", coupled with the realisation that if my average did not hit double figures, i might be taken to task over it!
don't get me wrong, i wasn't scared of knocking on peoples doors and being told to regularly to "f*ck off"- i just could see no sense in it.
Good post Jonty,
In Scotland where the weather is not the most welcoming we tended to do a couple of closes/tenemant's/flats and then go to the cafe for a brew and something to eat come out of there and give out a couple of pamphlets thereby allowing us to carry on our time which was good. I agree with the national average bit one was always aware that it was best to try and keep above this if possible.
Take care

i've got loads of his stuff.. i particularly liked him when he was playing with the travelling wilburys.
tom petty, george harrison & bob dylan along with orbison, jamming in a warehouse while singing "handle with care".. yet..i always had this sneaky feeling that he was struggling to stay in tune and that his golden voice covered over the glitches.. i recently downloaded him singing "bridge over troubled water" accompanied by the mavericks.
it's very much orbison as he employs his remarkable timbre to cover the difficult notes, but this time it doesn't come off at all well.. btw, i can only sing in tune after 4 or 5 pints and then i have a sneaking suspicion that my voice stays the same but that my ears become less fussy.. whaddyathink?.
Roy was indeed the boy.
What got me was how could he see where he was going with those goggles on they were extremly dark but what a voice. Like Englishman I have had a shot at trying to be Roy at the Karaoke and after a few jars I am indeed Roy Orbison re-incarnate, amazing.

two nice jw ladies stopped by my house last week and gave me some magazines.
one of them asked if i would mind if she returned to discuss the magazines and answer any questions i might have.
i think i'd like to attempt some counter-witnessing.
Old mags would be left in doctors/dental practices or general waiting rooms, I didn't care I would leave them anywhere and stiil put those bad boys on my report card!!
You will also find them in cat litter trays or the bottom of hamster cages, they fit well in there
i just wanted to introduce myself before launching myself at the various threads.
i left when i was 14 and that was 30 years ago, i thought i was well over it but when i read some of the postings on here they really got to me.
there are definitely long term effects.
Hi there,
Like you I am also new so I look forward to seeing you around.

ok, who remembers all those long prayers?
especially at the district conventions!.
we had our convetions at a small hockey arena and the stairs were really steep.
I think the wee scots lass might be talking about Bro Owler who's final prayer of the assembly went on for ages, it was shocking. I mean how many things was the guy thankful for and not onlt that he recapped on every talk that had taken place over the past 31/2 days as we say up here, "murder polis"
Did anyone have a bro say at the end "and from the heart of our bottoms" instead of "bottom of our hearts" we did man what a laugh that was.
