I love old folks.....didn't so much when I was a kid, but now that I am 63, I think we are a bunch of cool, awesome and fun people. Retired at 60, but am in college, again, and have a small photography business and am happy. Time is flying by though, wish it would slow down a bit. I'm still in the org (sort-of), but don't understand it now, and always wonder what happens to the money they collect, and can't beleive some of the ridiculous things that are being done and said, hate the df policy, hate the poverty of some of the folks, I feel sorry for them. And yes, the world is crazy. I hope you are all happy and healthy and thank you for responding...I love to hear from old people. Peace

Are we starting to treat DF people differently?
by Quarterback insome may remember the time when the private study edition of the wt wasn't to be made available to outsiders, and the df'd.. now, with the recent boe letter, sept 1, 2014, it specifically states that jw.org is making the km available even for df'd individuals.. do you sense a new trend developing?.

I am df'd and in the 17 years of shunning, nothing has changed, the brothers and sisters still look at me as if I am diseased, the elders still consider me as already dead, and the wonderful 'friends' that I loved, still shun me. Oh, but the elder that molested my sons didn't get df'd, and he's an elder again. So, nothing's changed. And to top it off, I still consider myself a Witness and love the Bible, and I go or listen to the meetings and am always at the memorial. lol..... who's the crazy one? One thing I have learned to do through all this is not to let anyone bully me. Soooooooo, I don't think df'ing or shunning will stop, because it gives Elders power over people, and I really, honestly think that is what they love, more than the Bible. Makes me sad.

Saying the KM is available to df'd ones means nothing as the KM has just been made available to everyone, anywhere. It's about saving money, WT printing less KMs, having people download them. I think that's ok, I'm happy it's available. If the GB said "No More df'ing...." I'd faint. I wish it could be true some day, but for some people the fear of being shunned is the only thing keeping them at the KH, so I doubt if if we'll ever see the end of df'ing.

I really don't know what to say, except thank you for the information. I am one of those df'd people. Allowing df'd ones to have a KM? What happened? I've always been treated as if I have Ebola. AND, I've had 2 elder visits within 3 weeks, I didn't know they knew I existed. What's going on?

Greetings,
Thank you for your concern. I too, am one of"practicing' Jehovah's Witnesses, although I am df'd. I never left the religion and have been going to the KH for 6o years, most of my life. I was df'd because my sons were molested by an elder, and their best friend, a young brother, was drugged and raped, by this same elder, 17 years ago. I have never left Jehovah, or His Son, Jesus Christ. I have tried to get reinstated, but my meeting attendence and letters to the GB make no difference. You do not know to whom you are speaking. If you truly want to help, you will not judge anyone, not the people here, or anywhere. Some have been hurt and devastated beyond belief, my children and I are four of thoses ones. People are hurting, not just over a 'disagreement', but over life-changing, devastating experiences brought on by brothers or sisters. So, let me ask you this question, "Matthew 7:3 "Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye but do not notice the rafter in your own eye?" I suggest that you take your concern and share it with you and your family....because being one of Jehovah's Witnesses does not mean 'Once Saved always Saved."

I understand how you feel. After I was df'd (17 yrs ago) I continued to go to the meetings and have gone to them off and on ever since. But I couldn't open the Bible for about 7 years....I don't know why. I love the Bible, I always have, but just looking at it was painful for me. My df'g experience was horrible and gave me PTSD, and I had to seen a psychiatrist for many years. But now I am back to reading the Bible and looking up scriptures and enjoying it. It has taken me about 15 years to feel like a real person, a happy person. I still consider myself one of Jehovah's Witnesses, even though they don't, I'm still shunned, but I can honestly say I am happy. You will be able to do things that are difficult for you now. Don't fret too much, just know that you WILL feel better and life is wonderful.
