i know many here who have had good and bad jw social experiences.
some went camping, hiking etc, went to the beach.
some had no social life at all in the org and some had congregations where nothing ever happened socially.. i know of one sister, who has since left, who complained that the only thing witnesses did when they got together, was share a meal.. now, there's nothing wrong with sharing a meal.
there were a few events.....i guess the biggest ones were Tupperware parties, and baby showers....As I think about it now, it was pathetic...it use to be something I looked forward to.....
oh yeah, and the yearly HUGE Barn dance Frank Mott-Triel use to hold...It was the bomb, that barn dance..all the moo-moo juice you could drink and all the food you could eat....
I of course, was busy sucking on some kind of alcohol with older brothers till all hours fo the night...
after 8 yrs not being a jw (not dfd just left)... my b.i.l has decided for the good of his family that they are not to associate with me!
my sis was like my best friend, and now .... after they had marital difficulties (which he knows only the half of, cos she has kept her mouth shut) he has now become a mini man!!
he has told my sis and my beautiful nieces and nephews that they cannot associate or speak to me at all.
Welcome to the board awol....
You can vent all you want here....There are plenty here that will support you....It is ashame when on own family does not see the light...
..sounds to me like your sister is not happy either hopefully, she will soon...

Yes...Most of them were on a power trip with any title....

i have to think believing in the blood doctrine has to be the dumbest, especially because accepting the watchtower view can kill you.

when i was a teen going door to door, my "territory" was always the college area.
my choosing because i loved going back to the places i was the night before.
think of it - the last time they seen me i was either doing a beer bong or teaching people to do a beer shot gun.

OMG!!! I was trying to play this, and the boys ( my kids) were in the back ground listening and they were freaking out saying, "what the heck is that mom??" They were wanting to take it and make a rap version of it just to put a twist on it....I told them to go ahead and try it.... I am hoping I can some how put it up on the board once they are done with it....It sounds waaaay to funny and what I would pay big bucks for a Jw to come to the door right now and let them here their wonderful song being patronized by a mother and her children..... I am LMAO so bad right now, I am crying...

I remember when you joined...we were just days apart joining here and we were both so nervous.Me more so then you, and you talked/walked me through it. You were so dedicated in not letting me give up on this board as I wanted to walk away and not deal with some "jerks" here...I felt like a moron at times and did not have balls to stick up for myself. YOU taught me how to deal with it and or ignor it.
I just wanted you to know that YOU are a remarkable women, mom, grandma, spouse, poster and friend. keep up your fine work and take some time for YOU once in while...

what is your opinion on it now that your out of the wts?
( or slowly kicking the habit... my sons school is having a "roll up your sleeve day" and give blood.....both boys and myself are going to donate tomorrow....they are both trying to reach a goal for the most donated blood in our county...i also am going to donate my time for the day and help hand out cookies and orange juice...... i feel good!!!!

how did you feel when you read the wts when you were still in the org.
after the fist couple of years of being in, i avoided it as much as i could.
it was like reading a day old newspaper over and over again.
People today still tell me they miss my comments at the meetings.
