  a jw relative brought out something i actually had to agree with.

  we were discussing positive vs. negative aspects of the "truth".

  she brought out that the witnesses do not participate in war, and i thought 'gee, that's probably a good thing'.

  I have to repectfully disagree with panda and flower...veterans saved the country from external threats to freedoms of expression.. Otherwise, We'd be under Nazi/Communist/Japanese Imperial rule today...the unpopular among us save us from internal threats to those same freedoms...Otherwise, we'd be under Politically Correct/Christian Coalition/Fox News Channel rule today.

  The witnesses helped protect the first amendment in the courts, if not the battlefield. Too bad they don't treasure them in their own organization.

  Irreverent Got Good News

  some of you may remember that my husband suffered heart failure in may and the words "heart transplant" were mentioned often.

  he has been in heart rehab (diet and exercise and close monitoring) and meds since then.

  last week, he was told that the heart transplant was off the table.

  My thoughts on Mexican immigrants

  one of the pressing issues in the california election is (as always) the presence of "illegal" immigrants who come into our country, work under the table, and send money home.. my position on this matter, since i am a republican, might surprise you, but i favor no immigration restrictions at all with mexico!

  the mass immigration would solve many problems - there are many jobs, entry level and low-paying, that americans won't take because they don't pay enough.

  fruit picking, for instance.
