a jw relative brought out something i actually had to agree with.
we were discussing positive vs. negative aspects of the "truth".
she brought out that the witnesses do not participate in war, and i thought 'gee, that's probably a good thing'.

we are having so much fun talking with everyone.
there are about 30 here tonight, and we just had dinner, ...............chicken on the bbq, coleslaw, and lots of good appetizers.. angharad, and "her ladyship" (also known as englishman's wife), and inky are in the hot tub, and there are little groups of conversation going on all over the house and outside on the deck.. cruzanheart, bigtex and sixofnine got here a few minutes ago.
there are 8 from england so far, including a very nice couple who were on my flight from atlanta.. several of us went out on joy and steve's big sailboat for several hours and it was so fun, and relaxing.. tomorrow we get ready for the big halloween party.

so how did those words get so loaded?

i guess because there are so few brothers in the congregations, sisters start writing to brothers that are in prison.
in prison, these ne'er do wells have no bills, no job to commute to, 3 meals, a bed, free medical insurance and loads of time to read the bible and the wts publications.

It's also to vent...to see what other experiences got people out...to get ideers for my fade. Kind of a reverse of those assembly parts where you have 11-year-old already regular pioneering and avoiding the temptations of things like "friends" and "fun"

Nos: I wasn't looking forward to making the one mistake that would get me destroyed. I'd mess up at some point,and so would others...I don't think living in a world with that kind of constant fear and loss would be anything close to paradise...Maybe If we really were left to do our own thing and get along as a general rule...but with all of those restrictions on what the WTS thinks Jehovah wants, I don't think "doing your own thing" is acceptable...

It's easy...personal experience....
You have this er, gift that you aren't comfortable how to use. this makes you really insecure. You will trust anyone who says they love you. That includes (especially) parents.
Your parents are JW's. They love you. They MUST be doing the right thing.
As you get older, you (naturally) have doubts. But your parents are so loyal, and want more than anything to keep you in and repeat the line that the organization is the best way, and that the best use for your intellegence is Pioneer and go to Bethel. They also hold you to your promises made at 10 years old.
You don't want to displease them...It's a massive lack of intellegence, and more of an act of insecurity.
My son is in school now. I hope he tests high, but definitely not too high.
when i was a jw it was pretty much a weekly thing in the cold weather months for different congregations(actually someone within the congregation) to rent a gym for th bros to play ball.
i really like playing ball.
when i left, that as something i actually missed.

I've also seen the same behavior...I also once invited all the young kids in the hall to a game, the kids only (ages 7-12). I chipped in (playing kind of a stooge...making bad shots, letting easy ones into the goal, letting the ball get stolen), and everyone was having fun. then the older ones showed up. I reminded them that this was kids only, and to watch themselves.
They didn't...it became Liverpool/Man U after that. the kids left, not having any more fun. I had a lot of apologizing to do to parents.
Just a theory...part of this behavior may be stemmed to the "all-the-same" delivery of the information from the FDS. almost no lit geared to the younger ones, no consideration for the women, everything is grown-man first, Kids have to sit through the same material adults do...everyone is the same in the eyes of the org...except we aren't.
