once the category of "god" is established in your mind (usually at an early, impressionable age) you can't ever close the file.. it is unassailable.. why?because it becomes rooted before you develop rational thinking skills.. categories of ghosts, devils, superstitions hold true as well.. what you can do (since they cannot be removed) is modify your emotional reactions connected to these concepts.. what are emotions?
they are signals (like beacons) informing you of the importance of your values.. the most deeply-rooted values signal the strongest emotional responses.. what you perceive to be a threat signals fear.

True. That is a good caveat and warning for anyone trying to effecting and maintain their ascension out of the JW community. This rewiring of the brain (which as we know has a physical component to the process) should include both of those left-right hemispheres. We are able to get the logical, factual, linguistic, chronological information from sources such as this Web site; however, even with all of that, there can still be fairly significant and profound remnants of the JW mindset – namely fear and shame – that we can be carrying and be unaware, as they are deeply routed within the subconscious.
I’ve heard it said on a documentary about the mind that most people think that the conscious, or “core” of our perceived reality, is running the show, but that is actually a misperception, as the vast majority of our various cognitive functioning takes place “in the background” within the various facets of the subconscious level (from controlling cardiopulmonary and endocrine function to driving and directing our actions from a primal limbic and emotional base). One needs to have an awareness of what is taking place in their subconscious as an intrinsic formation of one’s personal worth and as a powerful driving force in one’s higher-level decision making.
Especially in our case, being former captives to the JW’s religion of the WT organization, we really need to address the hijacking of our creative right hemisphere by the dogma and policy which has been imposed upon our logical left hemisphere through the constant cultic loaded language. We have all been the victims of manipulation by repetitive linguistics every much as we have been by captives of a concept.
One must never underestimate the power and control of our own subconscious which has for so long been hijacked by the relentless poking and prodding by the very little “man behind the curtain.”

The WTS was able to persuade some folks to not get married, to not have children, and to not pursue a career which would give them some financial security in the days leading up to 1975, but it doesn’t seem that they could ever get away with it again. Don’t look for any mass obedience to any directives (or “strong encouragement”) to put a hold on marriage/children/career again because of some new speculations on any future dates or time periods. (Not that they would dare at this point.) It wouldn’t work for them again – at least not in any area where people could access a little thing they call the “Internet.”

Something I Never Understood: Inactive or Disfellowshipped People Shunning Others That Were Disfellowshipped!

I remember at a district convention in Ontario, Canada (it was either at the Woodbine Race Track or the Mowhawk Race Track) that the speaker was talking about those who have committed adultery, and he said that they could be covered by God’s forgiveness, “BUT I WOULDN’T COUNT ON IT.” That statement certainly contributed to me thinking that I had sinned against the holy spirit (thus my user name, as indicateced in my profile).

Seven Headed Wild Beast officially no longer represents UN?

i know that they have quietly been backing away from the un identification for awhile.
is this feature on jw.org a new official teaching, or just a spin for the sake of the public?.

Right on the money! Nonsense is certainly the key word for sure.

It would sure be nice if quite a few victims of preventable deaths from the WTS’ stupid blood policy could somehow get together and launch a worldwide class action lawsuit against the WTS! If that could be done under some kind of international law, that would really be the cat’s whiskers. It would make the Candice Conti case seem like a parking ticket.

In the early ’80s, the congregation here in Ontario used to rent a local recreation center once a year for a square dance. They even had a brother who was a professional square dance caller. It was put on by an elder who was fairly old. There weren’t a whole lot of people who attended (basically just one congregation), so it wasn’t like it was an unmanageable or unruly in any way, and there was no alcohol. It was mostly families with children. It was actually quite wholesome, positive, and fun for everyone. You would think that such a get-together would be considered acceptable by anybody’s standards. But, . . . .
Apparently, one of the starched-shirt elders at the Canadian Bethel felt that it wasn’t appropriate just for the remote possibility that it might somehow get out of hand. So they canned the annual square dance!
I wasn’t into square dancing myself, but I always thought about the square dance as being the ultimate wholesome family event, and I couldn’t believe that it was actually being stopped because of the opinion of some old fuddy-duddy at Bethel (I think it was Ernie Funk). That made me realize that this had to be quite an authoritarian high control group if I ever saw one! That’s just plain sad.
As a result of that, the young people instead started getting together just among themselves and went to clubs and bars around the airport strip – where I would imagine the atmosphere would not really be considered an improvement. I guess that was a case where the rigid, pseudo-pious stupidity of the uppity secretariat class in the holy Bethel just ends up backfiring. Idiots!

Did your congregation have a "Pioneer Appreciation Day"?
by Coffee House Girl inmy mom (who is now a regular pioneer) has been laid up after having major surgery, and i assert my "biblical" rights as a daughter to do what i can to take care of her, so i have been trying to go to her house on my day off to vaccum and run errands for her since she is not supposed to drive.. she called me last saturday to tell me that i couldn't come by because she was driving to her pioneer appreciation day get-together, wtf .
i'm just curious if this only happens in my area (michigan, us)????.

Once in my congregation here in Ontario, after the annual pioneer meeting they actually had the elders do the serving of the dinner afterward. (I know because my dad was one of the elders and my mom did the cooking, so that’s how I was able to go and eat with them.) It was nice to see the elders actually serving the meal for everyone, even if they didn’t have to do the cooking. It sort of reminded me of the occasion when Jesus volunteered to wash the feet of his disciples. It’s not too often you get to see that sort of chivalry by the usually uppity folks. I have a feeling that this local phenomenon was the exception, and I haven’t heard of it since.

You have to understand that there are two beasts involved here: (1) the “Seven-Headed Wild Beast,” and (2) an “image of the wild beast,” which is the bright-red, scarlet-colored beast that has seven heads and ten horns, the “eighth king, but springs from the seven,” and which supposedly represents the UN organization.
According to the WT’s unique eschatology, the seven heads of the worldwide political conglomerate will give their power to this “image” of the beast (the “eighth king,” or “scarlet-colored wild beast,” the UN), enabling it to turn on Babylon the Great through its political member nations. In reality, this seven-headed, scarlet-colored “image” of the seven-headed political wild beast are in effect really the same thing – the UN (“image”) is just a representation of the collective world powers/governments. It’s just a matter of semantics.
Although, of course, it’s rather ridiculous to predict that all the world’s governments will completely get rid of their religions. By far most of the world’s population is religious, and the USA itself, which is currently considered the greatest superpower, is by far comprised of Christian citizens. And what do all the US presidents say at the end of their speeches? . . . “And may God continue to bless America.” And what does it say on US currency? . . . “In God we trust.” So now matter what kind of Harry-Potter-like beasts anyone speaks of, I don’t think worldwide religion is going anywhere soon. (If anything, just more melding and morphing in the great human cauldron of childish nitwittery.)
