“Vidiot”: “I strongly believe that if push really came down to shove (up to, including, and after loss of tax-exemption), they'd rather the Org crash and burn than budge.”
Well, that would be “persecution,”™ don’t you know, which would confirm that the JWs are really “God’s chosen people”™ and that we are living deep into the “time of the end.”™ If the WT organization were to “crash and burn,” then it would signal that “Armageddon”™ (Arm-a-giddy-bum) would start immediately, with all the ravens, crows, seagulls, etc. swarming us to administer a sweet eye peckening.
[Yes indeed, that was sarcasm.]

“Brokeback Watchtower”: “A full fledged JW would never question the GB for how they spend the money as that would be a sign of some sort of apostacy. I think this very public announcement should indicate an inspection of finances is dully warrented?”
Although all the income and expenses are scrutinized in minute detail at the congregational level and at least itemized at the circuit level (special assembly days), there is absolutely no public divulgence or accountability of any of the funds at the district (regional conventions) or national level (branches).
According to the tax returns of the Watch Tower corporation, they take in about a billion dollars annually, but of course no one of us who aren’t privy to the upper echelons of the organization will ever get an inkling of exactly where those funds are being appropriated to.

What is this "religion"?
by Kom 197 infor a long time, i was convinced jehovah witnesses were just people preaching the word of god in a different way than other christians.
i was shown the real truth over the past few months.
i've been friends with this guy for over 5 years.

I do earnestly hope that he can eventually be made to see the JW organization for what it really is – a deceptive, manipulative, high-control cult – and that you and he can renew your relationship. That would certainly be the best outcome for you both. (Don’t forget http://www.jwfacts.com/!)
But if he can’t somehow ever be made to wake up and come around back to sanity but you still want to try having a significant relationship with him, then, well, all I can say is, Fasten your seatbelts. It’s quite a rough ride indeed when the one you love gets commandeered (high-jacked!) by the likes of the Watch Tower!

What are the big black tanks that were installed and buried at Beth Sarim?
by Wild_Thing ini have been watching this video.
at about the 4:40 mark, the footage shows a big black tank with two windows (they look like windows).
at the 4:46 mark, you can 2 of the tanks already in the ground and they being installing a third one.

“hoser”: “It is obvious that they are sewage tanks.”
That’s what I thought at first. Poo, poo – lots of poo. 💩
“St George of England”: “Also a diesel tank, they had generators there.”
That’s what I think I’ve heard somewhere.
“nowwhat?”: “Obviously the tanks were to hold all his booze!”
Now, that is the obviously likely scenario. Apparently (“evidently”™) prohibition never slowed that big boy down!

The JWs, by their heavy indoctrination, become robots programmed to proselytize aggressively so as to get in as many “brownie points” as they can and wherever it would get them the most exposure – whether appropriate or not.
The JW robots are like those small drones all lit up and operating wirelessly together in an array in the dark evening sky to collectively form preprogrammed three-dimensional designs, each drone being automatically controlled by a computer on the ground. (Such as was featured in the opening ceremonies in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.) Those tightly controlled drones remind me of the many pawns of the Watch Tower programmed to constantly seek out opportunities to proliferate the aims of their “mother organization,” no matter what.

As “John Cedars” once said regarding beards: It’s a “control mechanism.” And he is spot on. After all, that’s how cults operate: control!

Text of Sun., Feb. 18, 2018: “Jesus has appointed the ‘faithful slave’ to be the ONLY channel for dispensing spiritual food.”
But when you really think of it, is the Governing Body of the Watch Tower corporation the one-and-only means of providing spiritual food in the entire globe of humanity? Considering their track record of contradictions – including freemasonry, pyramidology, Seventh Day Adventism, racism/antiSemitism, misogyny, many incorrect assumptions and false predictions, etc. – in comparison with the entire human population on earth, their claim is way beyond ridiculous. The “ONLY channel for dispensing spiritual food”? Really?
When you put things in perspective like that, things become so obvious. By the process of elimination, whatever the case could be, the Watch Tower simply could NOT hold any credibility at all.

New Movie, "Confessions of A Teenage jesus Jerk"
by NikL instumbled apon this.. apologies if this has already been posted.. here is a link to the trailer.... https://vimeo.com/215891572.
here is one description of the plot.... certain right wing scolds love to claim that modern life would be so much better if organized religion was allowed to exert a greater presence.
“confessions of a teenage jesus jerk” shows in one very tragicomic story how such everyday religious incursion would be a curse.. actor eric stoltz makes his directorial debut adapting san francisco author tony dushane’s semi-autobiographical novel of the same name.

New here...
by Jacobi inmy name is jacobi, i am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40yo.
i don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer.
because people fade in and out i have managed to slide under the radar and i keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but i completed my fade about years ago (it also helped i moved to another part of the country).. i might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. i am not a trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country.

Welcome, “Jacobi”!
You will find that there are many JWs here who have become mentally out (woken up) but remain physically in (practically held hostage) due to strong emotional and economic ties. This is my own current personal situation. I am a born-in (born in 1966) but woke up around 2001. I am kind of physically “stuck” in right now (family situation, stupid/frustrating story), but I am mentally completely out of it.
My (former) friend Charlie used to always ask me, “Well, why don’t you just leave that religion?” But I would tell him that he doesn’t understand my situation because I don’t want to devestate my family, especially my parents. Some people just don’t get it, or don’t want to.
Anyway, we all have to do whatever we know is the best thing for us, in our own unique situation. And we also have to just emotionally shut out the opinions and unsolicited advice from others who don’t really understand our situation or have our best interests in mind. (Which is really the hardest part!)
