“4thgen”: “Reasoning Book for Dummies.”
LOL!
our insightful posters on this site were able to predict the new "spirit directed" generation teachings and fds teaching even years in advance.
what bomb do you thing will be dropped this year?
i know it will be big.
“4thgen”: “Reasoning Book for Dummies.”
LOL!
here in the netherlands (extreme liberal) i hear more and more jw children about having attended a birthday party.. it seems that the more liberal jw's here have no problem with it.. gorby.
You’re darn tootin’, Vidiot!
the man who invented the religion known as "jehovah's witnesses," was joseph franklin rutherford.. he is the same man who spread the message, "religion is a snare and a racket.".
that's right, religion was the poison that caused the rot in the world.. were jehovah's witnesses a "religion?
" hell no!.
“steve2”: “JWs owe way more to Rutherford than Russell.”
Russell turned his Second Adventist numerological apocalyptic eschatology ideas into a cult following. Rutherford turned the cult into an organized corporate religion. Knorr just helped refine it all into something palatable enough not to be laughed and kicked out of existence. The other guys are just trying to keep it afloat (at least long enough to be able to cash in).

“Terry”: “I envisioned each "apostate" anonymously mailing a copy to a close friend or relative "still in." But, I know I'm dreaming”
I don’t think it’s dreaming at all. I for one will definitely buy a copy of your book and am willing to do just that – I will buy another copy of it and make sure that my family receives it one way or another (when the time is right, as I am still being held captive in that damn tower of ignorance). I’m sure there are many folks on here who would be willing to do that also. I’m positive that you’ll find your above idea to be much more than just “dreaming.”
Take care, and, as always, best of luck. (Notice I said “luck,” not “fortune.” I refuse to play the WT’s silly word games.)
the insidious bind the watchtower religion places on their members is unconscionable.. holding family and friends "hostage" as an extortion strategy may be their most potent weapon of enforced conformity.. .
in effect, like an armed criminal who points a gun at you and threatens "your money or your life", the watchtower leadership.
holds the power to separate dissenting members from those whom they most cherish.. the "gun" is the shun.. pointing the shun at you and threatening to cut you off from your loved ones is a psychological brutality.. absolute obedience is required.. .
The Watchtower Shun Gun is used to subdue the victim when the Congregation Love Bomb fails to neutralize them. Fortunately, a person hit with the Watchtower Shun Gun can be treated with a regimen of Logical Thinking Physiotherapy along with the assistance of JWDB medications. The success of recovery is early diagnosis by a qualified Apostate and a prompt online treatment program, which should also include doses of thought-inducing YouTube videos.
Being hit with the Watchtower Shun Gun is serious! But with caring friends and relatives, especially those who have successfully recovered from such a hit, along with suitably-trained expertise by recovery practitioners such as Steve Hassan, Raymond Franz, M. James Penton, Carl Olof Jonsson, Terry, Blondie, and Minimus, can make all the difference. Fortunately there are intelligent and philanthropic people to help their fellowman dealing with this painful and crippling condition of ShunGunStrickenItis. It’s time to let the healing begin!
“ingimar”: “stand right beside him with sign that says "Jwfacts.com. Check it out too"”
I see the beginnings of a Benny Hill skit. All you’d need is a short, bald old man and someone to give him some little pats on the head and you’re all set! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEVYsmpcbvk, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU28GHMcYxM)

It’s quite okay to molest and rape the kiddies whilst retaining elder/overseer privileges (long as there’s no third person there to play peekaboo) and then kill those wee kiddies by refusing them emergency medical treatment – that’s all just quite fine and dandy when you’re in JW land. Just don’t give them a birthday party and have them blow out those pagan candles, and certainly DON’T let them see you propose a toast and clink your glasses – now THAT would be just too much!
i had a bunch of tiny little nags that always bothered me about the bible/god/etc.
that eventually led to me drifting away, but this was my personal, singular issue that no one could address.
i think i mentioned it before here, but, for summation again:.
For me, it was the combination of all of those ridiculously numerous inconsistencies and falsehoods. The WTS says that it can prove that we are in the “last days” of this “system of things” because “everything dovetails together” in the signs and events. However, I, or anyone else, can easily prove that the WTS is not “spirit directed” in any way and most certainly is not and could not be the “one-and-only true religion” because all those inconsistencies and falsehoods (lies) all dovetail together to prove that it isn’t or couldn’t. Yes, everything does fit like a key – to prove that the WTS is just another quirky sect/cult as full of lies as the rest of them.
it seems pretty impotent to me if it is.. let's assume, for the sake of argument, that they are merely 'spirit-directed', as opposed to 'inspired'.
and let's assume that there is even a difference(other than semantics) to begin with.
neither claim is validated by the end result.
“Band on the Run”: “Did the Holy Spirit direct the cross and crown, the pyramid worship, the different dates for Armageddon, the child abuse, Beth Sarim, the Bethel Christmas tree?”
Good point – especially from the year 1919 onward, when the Watchtower corporation was supposed to have been officially recognized and appointed by Jehovah God through Jesus Christ as being God’s one-and-only spirit-directed organization on earth. So, you would think that after 1919 those fundamental issues of dogma and policy would have been refined, or at least straightened up somewhat. But what do we find after 1919? It’s been taking about a hundred years since then for the Watchtower organization (remember, God’s one-and-only spirit-directed organization on earth, don’t you know!) to come to terms with much of those same fundamental precepts. And lord knows how long it would take them – and God through Jesus – to substantially straighten things out to a satisfactory and logical reconciliation.
Personally, I consider myself more to be a follower of quantum physicist Stephen Hawking. But you might say, He doesn’t claim any spiritual inspiration or offer any religious direction whatsoever. . . . Precisely!
they use vile hate speech towards the victims of the cult who leave and speak out to warn others .. .
words like.
haters of god.
“heavensgate11”: “How about the hate speeches given here at the JWN community . . . Only JWN Ex Witnesses are allowed to use profanity, . . .”
Think of it this way: If (theoretically) I were to scream and/or swear in someone’s face, that would generally be considered abusive and provocative behavior. Right? Right. Now, let’s say that the other person has just deliberately stomped as hard as he/she could on my toes. Let’s say I then screamed in the person’s face, maybe even using profanity. (I might scream something like, “What the f[iddlestick] did you do that for!?”) Now, in this case also, I’m screaming or even swearing in someone’s face. Can you spot the difference?
In this second hypothetical scenario, I am also acting in a way which would generally be considered abusive and provocative, but, this time the person has just stomped as hard as he/she could on my toes – so, in this particular instance, I am merely reacting in a natural and understandable, and to some extent even involuntary, way.
So, can you see the connection here? There are a variety of folks on this Web site, many of whom having had a wide range of experiences with the Watchtower religion, many of which being negative and hurtful. Now, when people are hurt, they naturally, and also have the right to, react by venting their emotional pain, indignation, and frustration. And, being in the free and democratic society in which we live, we can and should expect that such ones, having been ignominiously victimized, can and will express their pain and frustration. Moreover, this forum and others like it are thus appropriate and practical avenues for this expression. And to that end, being able to express one’s pain as such is cathartic, therapeutic, and efficacious, as it relieves the pain of the individual through the sharing of it among others of similar experience.
So, what may seem to you, “heavensgate11,” as being “hate speeches” on here is actually what simply amounts so people saying “Ouch!” when their toes have been painfully stomped on. Such ones need and deserve understanding. After all, it really does hurt!
