  “NewYork44M”: “The field service used to be a revenue center - selling magazines. Now, it is a cost center - every magazine given away is a cost.”

  It may appear that the magazines just represent a cost because of so many being given away, but don’t forget this: the WTS gets revenue from any donations received out in the field service plus donations for each of the magazines from the publishers in the contribution box labelled “Worldwide Work,” plus the funds deposited into the other contribution boxes, such as the ones labelled something sort of like “Kingdom Hall Construction/Regional Building Committe Fund,” and “Local Kingdom Hall Expense Fund.”

  So, the WTS certainly doesn’t depend on the donations from householders out in the field service. They already have things covered from all those other constant donations, or “contributions,” from each of the rank and file members.

  The door-to-door preaching work is really a tool to reinforce the idea for individual JWs that they are “on the right track” for salvation because, after all, they can say to themselves, “Well, it’s far more than just me doing it – there’s almost eight million of us all doing it together worldwide!”

  To “Terry”:

  Excellent synopsis of the long-standing failures of the WTS, as evidenced by that all-pervasive thing – what is it? Oh, yes, LOGIC.

  “A person might renounce his place in the Christian congregation by his actions, such as becoming part of an organisation whose objective is contrary to the Bible, and hence is under judgement by Jehovah God.”

  Oh, my God! Can anybody say “UN membership?”

  Excellent exposé, Terry. That should tell the story for anyone.

  Trademark office rejects Watchtower's application for "JW.Org" logo

  even though watchtower's application has been rejected, they will be allowed to use the logo because it is for religious usage and will not be confused with commercial products.. the trademark office did note this:.

  indeed, numerous other marks are registered reflecting the letters j and w:.

  “WTWizard" has a good point regarding people’s propensity to “cross-reference things.” This, in the end, will be the significant deciding factor, regardless of whatever vibes are attempted to be pushed down the pike from the WTS pedestal.

  As far as a “tipping point,” I would think that it could only apply to each JW on an individual basis, and perhaps eventually to the entire rank-and- file JW community as a whole (long way off, though – don’t hold your breath). But as for any major “tipping point” on the core policies of the WTS (blood, disfellowshipping, beards, birthdays, etc.), I can’t really see it happening. I think the whole WT enterprise would be forced to either change or be shut down by the government (can anybody say “1918”?) before the WTS would change their draconian measures on their own.

  the watchtower study to be considered this sunday, august 3, 2014 (using the magazine dated may 15, 2014), titled are you moving ahead with jehovahs organization?, in paragraph seven (on pages 27-28), talks about the number of people baptized in recent years:.

  7 where do those making up the great crowd come from?

  they are being brought together because of what jesus foretold as part of the sign of his presence.

  My wife sees the lack of love and.. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

  in the past few weeks, my wife has been seeing more and more the lack of love and caring from jws.

  for example, she is organizing a "princess party" for our 4 year old daughter.

  a couple of the parents have expressed reservations about this since they think princesses may be "too magical" even though we know they have been to disneyworld, and watch the disney channel.

  An excellent new thought-provoking fictional book, which has strong similarities and some actual references to Russell, Rutherford, and Franz, is by our own Terry Walstrom, called “The Monorails of Mars.” That would be a great book for breaking the ice with your wife, as it is provocative yet fairly non-threatening.
