  Once people actually take that Watchtower plunge, then they begin to learn the real “truth,” with all its petty idiosyncrasies and dogmatic ridiculousness – which obviously really does come to the fore during the CO’s visit. And of course more and more people end up learning the real truth about the “truth,” but unfortunately for many it’s then too late – they’re already stuck, and their family is held hostage.

  Yes, indeed, truth – the real truth – reveals itself after you get baptized into that “spirit-directed [corporate] organization.” Too bad everyone doesn’t get the opportunity to check out all the hidden facts of that “truth,” including the real hierarchical, pope-like structure which basically mirrors that of the Roman Catholic Church, before they take that plunge!

  Did not Attend Mid-Week Meeting but Felt Good - Strange Feeling?

  the usual feeling for me - when i missed mid-week meetings - is to feel guilty, sad or depressed.

  it normally involved negative feelings.

  I’ve experienced a lot of that cognitive dissonance where I knew TTATT but had a bit of a general compulsion to maintain that feeling of “accomplishment” in keeping up with the “theocratic” reading and studying – feeling like a “good little boy,” even though that feeling is actually just disingenuous and hollow. The compulsion to please our close family members can get rather ingrained in us born-ins.

  But now the dissonance is dissipating as I continue my “apostate” investigations on this site, as well as attend a monthly “apostate” Saturday luncheon here in the Toronto area. I know the WTS would say that I’m ‘partaking of the table of demons as well as the table of Jehovah,’ but I’m not really “partaking” of the “table of Jehovah” (a.k.a. Watchtower), as I’ve already left it in my heart over a decade ago, and I really need to keep connected with that “table of demons” (a.k.a. here) because it’s really my lifeline to a rational perspective outside of the little JW forest and to plain objective common sense.

  So, yes I ultimately feel good about missing tomorrow’s “theocratic” activities, as I get much more of a sense of true self by actually meeting up with fellow “apostates” over some chicken wings. To me that’s more of “the real life” than that phony, hollow “life” of religio-corporate servitude. And the only thing that is physically holding me back from completing my escape from the Tower is financial independence. (I’m currently still actually living with my folks at 48 years of age – somewhat long story, but that’s the reality for me now.) I’ll just have to take things one day at a time and try to be careful and patient with saving enough money to get out on my own and actually complete my fade.

  There always has to be some carrot on a stick in front of the donkey sheep, whether it’s marriage, sex, financial security, the end of the world, or something. That is just the way the WTS works. Keep people continually striving for something on the end of that stick.

  When you think of it, a submissive donkey sheep walking in a circle with a carrot dangling in front of it is a perfect picture of submission. And, of course, isn’t that the way these religions cults work – mindless control?

  Your "Things That Make You Go Hmmm?" List

  The thing that really did it for me was the huge combination of things which just don’t add up! When you think of it, those sure are quite a lot of things that would discredit any organization from being legitimate or trustworthy – but especially one which claims to be the one and only true organization in all the earth!

  It reminds me of that little game with the song which I remember they had on the kid’s show Sesame Street called something like “Which One of These Things Is Just Like the Other?” where they compared different things to see how specific things were similar to other things. For example, a car and a bus are similar and go together because they both transport people on the road, but a pineapple and a typewriter are not similar and thus do not go together or belong with each other. Now, using the analogy of this simple kid’s game and song on Sesame Street, an organization such as the WTS, which claims to be the only “true” religion in all the earth, and the Christianity embodied by the Lord Jesus Christ – those two things would go together or belong with each other about as much as a banana and the planet Mercury. (I.e., they woudn’t by any stetch of the imagination.) That’s right, children – the WTS and the Christianity of Jesus Christ simply do not go together and do not belong with each other.

  So, making the WTS “fit” with, or belong to, the Christianity which began with the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ would certainly not be in any way logical even to those little kids on the show Sesame Street playing that little game “Which One of These Things Is Just Like the Other?” Those two things are obviously dissimilar to any young child – so, no wonder us adults have no trouble at all seeing the difference. Most simply put, they just don’t add up. . . . . Hmmm.

It would certainly be great to find a link to that entire episode, which is entitled “If The End Is Coming So Soon Why Do You Need An Education?” (part of the “Deadly Devotion” series on the American “Investigation Discovery” channel).

  Now there’s a good point! It only goes to show just how much the WTS has in reality strayed from both those things – the Bible and Jesus Christ. I’m surprised they haven’t prominently put photo portraits of the current members of the GB on that new memorial tract. They would much sooner feature photos of Microsoft president Bill Gates or the late Apple president Steve Jobs than they would that old bearded dude – what was his name again, . . . . oh ya, our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ!

  To “daringhart13”: That was one of the best and most insightful articles I have read about how ignorance and fear completely saturate the whole JW culture. Thank you for posting that link (http://darrinhart.hubpages.com/hub/Jehovahs-Witnesses-and-The-Chosen-Path-of-Ignorance). It’s truly amazing how people can be so fervently dedicated and blindly obedient to “God's spirit-directed organization” when in fact they basically no nothing at all about this apparently all-important, all-powerful organization! The WTS is really in effect yet another most poignant and intriguing psychological experiment in cultural conformity and mind control.
