ABCNews Nightline: Segment on JW absuse cases here......
by WingCommander inhere is the segment on the conti abuse case in california and jehovah's witness's response as reported on by the abcnews nightline broadcast which was shown early this morning.
it really displays some absolutely shocking behavior from not only her abuser and his (supportive) wife, but also the jw attorneys and elders via video.
i am just blown away by the audacity displayed by these monsters.. we can now understand why governing body member stephen lett slipped in his comments a couple of weeks ago about "untrue reports of child abuse" in one of his talks which can viewed on the cult's website.

Certainly pedophiles are apt to be found in any religion or organization, as there are some specific character defects common to those types of perpetrators. (I’m no psychologist, by any means, but it would seem that whatever is inside their noggins doesn’t quite tick right.) However, the thing that’s really so galling about the JWs is that they try to protect their precious WT organization at all costs because they believe it to be so infinitely and exclusively superior in all respects to anything else in the “world.” (They’re the one-and-only representative and mouthpiece for Almighty God, don’t you know! . . . . Good grief. Well, it’s actually the WT organization that catapulted me into embracing evolution.) -

As we can see, the real truth has gotta hurt for the WT organization! -

“NoGoodDeed”: “I was surprised at how they tried to avoid talking to me. One told me that I should just take whatever literature I wanted and read it on the train. When I asked a question that I though was fairly innocent, two of the JWs just looked away. The third said, "We are not here to answer questions. We are just here to hand out magazines."”
I’ll be willing to bet that those JWs would believe you if you showed them hard evidence of any of the falsehoods in the history of the WT organization as much as they would believe you if you said you just arrived from another galaxy. Yep. Anything you could possibly present to them regarding Russell or Rutherford, etc., etc., would most definitely be met with, “Oh, you must have got that from apostates.” I would bet my boots and saddle on that!

Celebrate the Un-Memorial
by rebel8 ini was thinking that we could spend the memorial evening doing the exact opposite of what we used to do.. smile and laugh.
have fun.
dress comfortably.

I guess it would be good after sundown on Friday, April 3, 2015 to at least reflect for a moment how ridiculous the JW celebration of the Memorial is, where they pass the emblems by all the non-anointed (normal) people, who are not supposed to partake at all. Looking at it from the outside, I can see that this exercise in futility is really just a psychological tactic by the WT to reinforce the lowly position of all the non-anointed in their pecking order. We should be glad that we don’t have to be held captive to that dull charade. (And for those of us like myself who still get dragged to that fun-filled event every year, at least we know that we don’t have to take it seriously, at least in our own mind.) That evening should really be a time to appreciate the true freedom we have by learning TTATT. That evening, just do something nice for someone else and for yourself. Just celebrate life itself. That’s what it’s for.

“Crazyguy”: “I didn't see anywhere in that chapter a mention of shunning.”
Romans 1:28-32 (RNWT) says: “Just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting. And they were filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice, being whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, schemers of what is harmful, disobedient to parents, without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, and merciless. Although these know full well the righteous decree of God—that those practicing such things are deserving of death—they not only keep on doing them but also approve of those practicing them.”
Maybe that passage doesn’t mention shunning per se, but, as you can see, the Unchristian terms which I highlighted above are all embodied in the process of shunning. (Just like with the WT’s argument against smoking – it’s not mentioned specifically in the Scriptures, but the essence of defilement and harming one’s neighbour would technically preclude it from being acceptable. But, of course, even in that case, nowhere does the Bible recommend actually shunning someone for that.)

Feeling indifferent
by campaign of hate inright now, at this point in my life, i feel like i should be angry, sad, upset, annoyed, whatever emotion that most of you guys here feel or have felt.. but the overwhelming feeling i get, and i have got since waking up, is indifference.. i think that this might be my subconscious coping mechanism.
when i go to the meetings or take part in any other wt related activity, i don't care.
i just really couldn't care less.. i mean, i do care, but i think it's more a fascination now about the whole thing.

“freemindfade”: “I think it’s more a fascination now about the whole thing. It actually does interest me, the ins and outs of the Cult.”
I look at it as getting to observe firsthand what amounts to a real-life psychology/sociology “experiment”; that is, a naturally-occurring experiment showing how people can be motivated to seek power and to control others, and also how people can be unwittingly mislead and manipulated. It is, indeed, somewhat fascinating to watch the dynamics of a cult environment and to learn the scientific aspects of what is really going on behind the scenes in people’s minds from a general outsider’s perspective. It’s interesting just what makes various people tick.
“freemindfade”: “I do feel going is a waste of my time and life, but I am stuck doing it at the moment to be nice.”
I know exactly what that is like! I’m still having to go through that very same scenario.
“Phizzy”: “Right now I cannot be arsed to join in puerile discussions about JW's, about "taking down" the Org etc or discussing various minutea of Doctrine they have got wrong. . . . Most aspects of this fast failing business posing as a religion are not of interest to me.”
While it’s certainly good to be able to move on in a positive direction, I find for myself that I need to keep reaffirming the fact that the WT organization is not what it claims to be, and the best way for me to do that is by reminding myself of exactly how and why the WT organization is just a made-up and self-serving house of cards based on falsehoods. It’s therapeutic and helps support me along my journey of discarding the old fear and shame of JW-land and moving toward self-empowerment, healing, and freedom. Yes, for this “apostate” (me), it’s a kind of sweet medicine.

“Quarterback”: “All we saw in Ontario for that time, and channel is an infomercial.”
I live in Ontario, not far from Toronto, and the TV guide on my “i.TV” app on my phone does, in fact, list “Nightline” to be airing at 12:37 a.m. in the early morning of Friday, March 13, 2015 (right after “Jimmy Kimmel Live”), on ABC, Rogers cable 18 (HDABC). I’ve set my PVR, and I’m quite hopeful. (Unlike the WT, our prophecies on here seem to actually come true.)

When all is said and done, at the end of the day the Watchtower organization/corporation is a sales-driven, membership-hungry pyramid scheme (no pun intended – “pyramid,” Russell). And as with any type of pyramid scheme, the simple bottom line objective is ultimately to accumulate as many leads/members/followers as possible. More members = more followers = more influence/power = more “assets” (i.e., investments and liquidable capital) = $$$.
So, therefore (evidently), it’s in the best interests of those “humble” brothers at the top for all those folks down there doing the fancy footwork to get those tractazines and blue Website squares out there to as many people as possible – as quickly as possible – which apparently now means skipping the pleasantries and small talk.

Hmmm . . . . now, what was it that Charles Taze Russell wrote way back when, supposedly under Spirit-Direction:“Zion’s Watch Tower” has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. When He who says: “All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,” fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication. – August 1879 Watchtower, p. 2.
Oh ya. That’s what he wrote. (That’s what I thought.)

Well, the WTS does have one heck of a lot of money which they could spend on ads to sponser things, but I don’t think they would be humble enough to submit to “worldly” enterprises in that way. No, they would much rather work their slave labor to death to serve their advertising needs, like they’ve been doing all along. I’ll bet that blue JW logo you see placed in that asian video clip was put there as a freebie by an actual loyal and zealous JW. The WTS won’t even allow the stadium concession stands to be open during district/regional conventions because they don’t want to have a “worldly atmosphere,” for God’s sake!
