  Do only a certain number of people find salvation?

  i'm curious to know whether the jws believe as the mormons do that only a certain number of people get to go to heaven or find salvation.

  From the sound of your question you are not a jw or exjw?
  Gopher is right- they interpret Rev 7&14 to mean that 144,000 of their extremly faithful will go to heaven and 'a great multitude' will go to a paradise earth. Both these groups to them are Jehovah's Witness only. They do not believe in an immediate heaven or hell after death but that people go into nonexistance until God remakes you from his memory after armageddon and judge you from there- The good to either earth or heaven and the bad get annihilated into nonexistence again.
  The "multitude" is the average JW and is subject to the rule of the 144,000 sprecial JWs even on earth- they have to go through the 144,000 as their mediator to God instead of Christ.

  Never mind that the 144000 are said to be jewish not JW and that Rev.7:9 says that the great multitude is before God's throne too, not on earth. Just another inconsistency though, I guess.

  can a person get salavtion if he never reads the bible?.

  can person just except christ but have nothing to do with the bible and get salvation?.

  if someone lived a trillion x longer than you, and had a billion x more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?.

  I am a bit uncomfortable being called Adonai- maybe I'll change that.

  Ok Clash-- I think we are arguing the on the same side here. And I'm sorry but no you're not the only person on this board who is on the side of faith alone without works-- I am too. I'm not saying you shouldn't read the Bible or that it's ok for someone who has put their faith in Christ to ignore the Bible-- I think it is very important in the life of every Christian because it is the only infallible communication from God. The only way to grow in your knowlege and stay true to God. Or for that matter the only way to know what 'god' you are following and have put your faith in.
  I am just saying that technically it is an act or work we do- something we are supposed to do- but still a work and we are saved by faith. God is just and will judge those who did not have access to the Bible fairly. You should and are commanded in scripture to read the scriptures but its not the act of reading the Bible that saves you-- I think we agree but are getting hung up on wording.

  I would disagree that JWs are basicly Christians but corrupted by men. The things these men corrupted are the very essence of who Yahweh is. I could go into this further but this is a whole new thread topic.
  Yes I believe God still 'talks' today.
  He's talked to and instructed his people throughout history why would he all the sudden stop?
  He does not however still inspire more scripture. If anyone takes issue with that I suggest that they examine their newly inspired stuff and compare it to the Bible- God does not and cannot by nature contradict himself.
  I believe he answers prayer and leads us(true Christians) in daily life still today. He does not give new revelation on doctrine or revise his doctrine. You grow in your knowlege of what the Bible already says but it does not change or get added to.

  No one asked to discuss this but here goes:
  No human can speak for God. JWs claim that their ORG is God inspired and to question them is to question God- Wrong. If they were directly inspired by God then all their writtings they claim God inspired are claiming to basicly be additions to the Bible.
  The problem is their writtings are full of error and contradiction and the Bible is not- that says something about whether their writtings are truly inspired. They want it both ways- They are inspired when they want people to listen but they are just human when they are proven wrong. At the very least this proves we need to read the bible for ourselves and not trust them to tell us what it says.

  From what I read in the Bible - God is ultimately fair.
  Faith has nothing to do with works and 'reading' is a work.
  --Ephesians 2:8&9
  You don't have to read the Bible to be saved-- for salvation is by God's grace not how good you can be. But the Bible tells you who God is, about his love, about his work, how to have a good life and what as a new believer you should do now.
  If a person never has a Bible (not because they don't feel like buying one but because circumstances won't let them) and only loves and believes in the true God by faith- his faith is what saves him.
  If you have a Bible and you choose to never read it your faith will still save you by Gods grace as long as you have put your faith in the true God. Reading the Bible is the only way you are going to know you have put your faith in the truth- you can't trust mearly what people tell you because thats blind faith that can lead you astray.
  I'm not going to argue about WHAT the truth is but as a Christian who has studied the evidence extensively I can say you are saved by grace through faith alone in Jesus. The true Jesus- not the Watchtowers.

  Concept of There Being A God

  is it possible for the human mind to really understand what god is?.

  think about all those trillions of centries that god was alone, with no need for a language, as there were no objects to name, no one to converse with, nothing to do.

  there were no subjects to hate and kill, no one to love and bless, no satan opposer to battle, sort of like being dead.

  I have learned that every opinion and feeling deserves respect. Not because they are all right but because of the person behind them. I respect everyones ability to make up their own minds. At the same time that does not mean that everyone is correct- which is obvious because of the millions of different opinions out there- they all cannot be true at the same time.
  If God does exist then it's every person's responsibility to discover and respond to him. After all- he is your creator. If God exists
  (which I know has much scientific and historical etc.. evidence) then you must then find out who he is. Find out which 'Holy book' and 'God' is the truth. I know the evidence proves the Bible to be the word of God which means I have to take it seriously- everything it says not just the parts I happen to like.
  If God does not exist then you don't need to care about religion and only need to care about how much fun you can have in this life because this is it. But you cannot arrive at the "God does NOT exist" conclusion without examining the evidence otherwise you are taking just as big of a leap of faith as those who blindly follow a religion. We all seem to have the experience in blindly following a religion & now that we are out of it lets not make the same mistake in the other direction. I know if a person honstly examines the evidence he or she will find God. I know because I did study the evidence and it proved God and I know tons of others that did too.

  The salvation Army has a specific office in Illinois that does Missing person searches- I think for free- any Salvation Army can give you phone # or address. Also I heard that if you write to the Social Security office and tell them everything you know about your brother and include a stamped letter that they will mail it for you to him. You could also try that tactic with the Ait Force- surley they wouldn't object delivering a letter to him?
  Just say you don't need to be told where he is- you just want to get him a letter.

  Question for All about a friend

  Just would like some input to mull over about a situation I'm in.
  As some of ya know I'm an ex-Jw from MN. I've been out going on 7 years now and my JW family just recently started speaking to me again.
  This part of my family consists of My aunt and her 4 children. I was always very close to my aunt and her eldest daughter especially. My aunt is very stuborn and prideful and I don't think she will ever leave the WT even if she knew she was wrong. Her eldest daughter is now 16- same age I was when I got 'rebelious' and started thinking for myself. You all know they tend to squash that behavior though.
  Basicly, my 16 year old cousin is not allowed out of the house unless accompanied by a JW or on some JW assignment. For a brief bit she was able to have an after school job but when she actually made friends there she naturally wanted to see them outside of work. Her mom said no and so she'd do stuff with her friends behind her mom's back. She is a good kid- no smoking, drugs, drinking or anything but the simple desire to do stuff with someone besides her family aparently is a huge sin. She's been grounded into eternity although from what I'm not sure since she's not allowed to do anything anyway.
  I'm in a tough spot of my cousin is interested in my experience getting out of JWs and leading a happy normal life but I've been 'instructed' not to talk about religion with her. I don't want to lie or be decitful to help my cousin and ruin all chances of helping the rest of the family but I can't just leave her hanging there without help either. I can barely talk to or get her alone anymore even if I wanted to. I think I know what I'll end up having to do anyway but am interested in your input as we have all been through the same things. Thanks in advance :)

  Welcome! We all here understand the emotional and intellectual roller coaster you are on right now and are here to talk about as much as you need to. Keep true to yourself and to God. God gave us his word to read and know him by and it is not difficult or a heavy load. Keep in mind in all your thinking that leaving the Watchtower's rule is not the same as leaving God. In fact, if you truly Love Yahweh he will lead you out of there and to him. We hope we can help in any way we can.   I'M A NEWBIE! My story...

  i just came across this site not too long ago and have been reading the stories.

  i am filled with relief and at the same time frustration mixed with tears, because i have been holding my story in and not sharing it with anyone, except my husband.

  i have felt many of the feelings expressed here but was afraid to say them out loud for fear of being an 'apostate'.

  HI Tera! Glad to hear your story-- Another person realizing the Watchtower's lies alway warms my heart. I'm sorry for what you had to go through but at least it made you a smarter, better person and more loving I'm sure. You will find many friends here and nevermind the JWs that com on here to give their little speeches, they don't last long :( :)

  there was once a time in my life, that saying i dont love jehovah was just unimaginable for me.

  i loved jehovah, talked to this deity daily, sometimes for hours in reverent prayers and looked diligently for his answers.

  although I disagree with your conclusion that God does not exist
  its your choice.
  If you are interested in sharing just why you came to this conclusion e-mail me- my husband was an atheist prior to research in science, philosophy, history,and the Bible and would be interested.
