  we're having a baby!!!

  i had not been visiting the board for some time until just recently, so a lot of you don't even know me, but i wanted to announce that my wife and i are having a baby.

  we just found out not too long ago.

  today, though, was amazing!

  i am trying to gather info.

  on why people leave the wt.. i have read many personal stories but thought it would be easier to just post the question:.

  Thought it only fair I post mine
  I left after a year of 'studying' because their beliefs did not match up with the Bible. When I asked about it they said just trust the org. and I bought that for awhile. Not long though because I had started on that darned "independant thinking and Bible reading" track and could not stop. I had to be honest with myself and to God that I couldn't pick what the Bible says I had to follow it.

  Resurrection...to where???

  can anyone give me scriptural proof that we will be resurrected to life on earth?

  i can't find anything except scriptures that talk about a resurrection to heaven.

  New heaven and New Earth scripture to ponder:
  

  2 Peter 3:12-13
  "But the day of the Lord will come like a theif. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroted by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed it's comming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heavens and a new earth, the home of righteousness"

  Also, Christians will be resurrected to heaven at first at the rapture but when Christ comes again after the tribulation and before the millenium the christians will come with to rule as kings on the earth. The greek is 'on' the earth. Rev.20:4 states who will reign with Christ and Matt 19:28-30 elaborates on who 'those who had been given authority to judge' are- all christians.

  if a dud came to your door and said, we no longer shun ex members let's become friends again.

  if the wt said the preaching work has ended.. if wt encouraged the members to vote in all elections.

  OK - Lets talk about the Bible.

  I'd say- wheres Jesus?

  About time! The unbiblical ban has killed to many as it is.

  If the WT annouced it was okay to celebrate holidays.
  Yipee- doesn't mean you are christians. (most)Holidays are originally to commemorate or celebrate the true God, Yahweh, anyway so I don't think they would ever be ok with celebrating.

  The 144,000 are still Jewish and lets talk.

  How would you react towards witnesses? Would you consider going back, think it was a trick, what?
  I would act the same-- Respectful but respectfully disagree.
  Most of their teachings are not in the Bible- their explanations sound good but when you read the Bible they are not there.
  With just the above things changed I would not 'go back' because they are still mistaken on who God is- the whole trinity debate which is the most imporatant doctrine that needs changing.

  if yes, did u do ample research and think carefully but still believe in it?

  if u don't think that the story should be taken as literal, what is your reading of it and do u still believe in the bible as the inspired word of god?...thanks in advance..

  I assume from the way you write that you are a active JW?
  My turn to ramble
  Just a general over view of what the Bible says about People & afterlife:
  *People are created with 3 parts- Body, soul & spirit- These are mentioned together in 1st Thess.5:23.

  *The body is separate from the soul- ‘soul’ is used to denote the whole person but is also a separate part of a person.--Body and soul can be separated and are both perishable- can die: (Matt.10:28)

  *The Spirit is separate from the soul and can be divided (Heb4:12)

  *The soul leaves at death(1 Kings 17:21-22)
  (and returns at resurrection)

  *The spirit leaves at death(Luke 23:46 & Acts 7:59)

  *The Righteous upon death go to be with the Lord (their soul & spirit)(2 Cor.5:1-10, Phil.1:21-24, Lk 23:43)

  *The wicked at death go to Hades commonly translated Hell. This is the physical grave and an agonizing spiritual separation from God awaiting their judgement. Portrayed in Luke 16 with Lazarus and the rich man. Some say this is only a parable but this is very unlikely since Jesus never suggested it was a parable as he usually explained them after he was done and he never used any peoples names in his parables. Even if it is a parable, Jesus would be illustrating a truth about hell.
  *Dead wicked conscious in hell in a few more places is also in Isa. 14:9-11 and 1 Peter 3:19-22

  *Hades is not the final destination for the souls & spirits of the wicked because at the end of time when they are resurrected in the 2 resurrection and judged before the throne of Christ they will be thrown into the lake of fire, Gehenna. This is their final destination which is concious and eternal-
  A study of Matt.25:41-46 says that their torment will be eternal
  And Rev. 19 & 20 illustrates it plainly: Rev. 19:20 - The Lake of Fire- Gehenna- is where the Beast/AntiChrist and False Prophet are thrown after the battle of Armageddon. The 1000yr reign of Christ takes place and then in Rev.20:10 Satan is thrown in after his final defeat and it describes it as the beast and false prophet still being there and they together will be tortured day and night forever. This is the same Lake of Fire that the wicked are cast into after judgement- no reason to think the wicked's punishment won't last forever when it's the same place.

  *End times details are lengthy but the short of it is the righteous will be resurrected and glorified and go to heaven -this is called the rapture of 1 Thess.4:13-18-
  A period called the tribulation will occur on earth where the judgements of Revelation will be poured out on the earth.
  After this time Jesus will return to earth and battle with satan and his earthly followers and has an angel lock Satan in the abyss for 1000yrs. God will cleanse the earth and their will be a millenial kingdom for 1000yrs. All Christians will rule this kingdom with Christ on earth. At this time the earths population that is 'ruled over' is comprised of survivors of the tribulation- some saved, some not and their lives will be lengthened and they will continue having families. (The glorified & resurect do not continue having children)
  At the end of the 1000yrs Satan will be allowed out briefly to decieve any of these that will listen in one last war against God.
  God will consume the evil mortals with fire and Satan will be thrown into the Lake of Fire where he will spend eternity. There is the new heavens and the new earth, Judgement occurs for the wicked and those saved since the rapture, and finally the New Jerusalem will descend from heaven to earth and God's dwelling will be with man again (like it was in the garden of eden).

  for Orangefatcat-- nothing like that christian love that only the watchtower is supposed to have, right? I am sorry for how you've been treated but for what its worth to you: God loves you.
  Francios-- Yes 'God's only channel' sure doesn't do very well in the prophecy and teaching department-- And, Has it gotten around yet to JW's that at least 2 of the 3 people that wrote their precious Aid to Bible understanding book DAed themselves and are now born again Christians?
  plmkrzy--they never could get armageddon right-- keep up your researching:)
