  i have found the issue with the user post-counts being incorrect and the update to put them right is running right now.

  it's upto people who joined about 5 years ago so if you're more recent than that just give it a while before checking again.. i've made a few tweaks to the css to fix some issues with ie which caused the side-bar to be pushed down under the main content instead of alongside it and also the reply counters didn't have any color to indicate the busiest topics.. the snippet / topic preview options should now be a little neater and clearer.. other than that, most of the changes have been backend stuff around optimization so nothing really to see but it should pave the way for feedback on the post like / dislike voting and other goodies..

  Woke up this morning to the realization that the future is now

  as the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.

  and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.

  i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

  Likely you have heard this song, but have you really listened to the lyrics? It is about the same epiphany, only it happened to Carly Simon and she wrote a soulful song about it. I was 13 when I first heard it. I wish I had understood how this could apply to everyday of my life.

  i made it myself, although i am not very good at computerizin'.. i thought would try to encapsulate many subjects at once, after all, " a picture is worth a thousand words.

  if anyone knows of a good meme site that will let me make it better, please let me know.

  can an unhappy married woman vent?

  i continue to be saddened by the fact that i am married to such a selfish man.. i want to know if i am the only wife who has no say when it comes to using the house she lives in for activities including other people.. .

  let me explain.. yesterday my daugher who is 35 got a new puppy for my grandaughter who is 13. today my daughter and son in law are going to help my uncle at a job, and my granddaughter wanted to spend the day here, my daugher said shed bring her and the puppy over, i laughed and said 'your dad wont have that, ill have to go to your house'.. after all it will 'upset' the 2 cats they will hide all day [like they do anytime someone including my grandchild is in my home] .. i already knew that he would not like it if she brought the puppy over, [weve had dogs so its not like he hates them].

  he doesnt care if his grandaughter would have enjoyed playing with the puppy over grandmas house, where she likes to be for a change, and that fact that id like to see what my cats would do when they saw a dog for the first time in thier lives.. maybe id have liked to play with the puppy .. when i said to my husband that my daughter said she wanted tp bring them over he said.

  Read my last post again. It is up to you now to do something. You're letting anxiety rob you of any energy or strength to act on your own behalf. For one thing, stop wasting energy expecting him to behave any certain way. Just go on and do the things you're invited to do. It's time to love yourself enough to take some of that energy you are putting into being a perfect wife and prepare to take care of you. Once you accept that he is who he is and isn't going to change, it will help you. Do what you have to do as a wife and nothing extra.

  Your favourite dog breed ...?

  in an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.

  huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.

  this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.
