Welcome, welcome from another 40 something but not in Portland chick. Technically single but taken so to speak.

I was in Portland once. Thought it was beautiful and rainy. Left for Hawaii for almost a year but now am in Michigan.

Hope to see more of you. I'd love to have coffee but it's a long walk from here to Michigan. Heck, it's a long plane ride as well. We aren't even going to talk about the bus.

If you get over to Grand Rapids let me know. Or somewhere in the vicinity. Give a holler.

Welcome to the forum. I applaud you for being brave enough to tell your story. I've been here a couple of months, maybe more and haven't shared my story yet. It's so complicated and painful that it's hard to type it out. Discussing the JW experience with exjws and those who sympathize will further your healing.

Infidelity amongst JWs

does there seem to be a higher incidence of infidelity amongst the jws?.

my brother, who is an active jw and ministerial servant, has an elder friend who was recently disfellowshipped for having an affair with another sister in the hall.

it turns out this sister was divorced a few years earlier from a "worldly" man who had an affair on her.

Yes, and I bet they found out JW sex wasn't exactly lightening and thunder either. Talk about the Madonna/Whore complex, it's more like the Madonna/Madonna complex. And I don't mean the Madonna with cones, whips and chains Madonna either. I'm talking the pure and virginal one many brothers expected their wives to be before and after marriage.

If you want to be as happy as Hef when you are over 75 then you might want to start amassing tidy fortunes. You aren't going to attract this kind of woman at his age without a big fat wallet, checkbook and a mansion or two.

People will be people. We all have "good" and "bad" inclinations. For example, most married men will on the one hand have an inclination to be faithful to their wives, but on the other hand be occasionally tempted, to varying degrees, to be unfaithful. (Same for married women relative to their husbands.) This is a basic human experience, common to people of all belief systems, religious or otherwise. Whether or not infidelity occurs depends on how one deals with the temptation.

I believe a lot of JWs marry incompatible mates. There are few potential mates to choose from and many JWs marry for the wrong reasons. The headship arrangement causes unhappiness for both sexes in a big number of marriages. There is also the hopelessness and despair of being in a big mismatch and not seeing a way out.

Awww, that's great, Tink. I read one of your posts lately about how your dad treated your mother badly and so she found someone else. I can relate. I'm very glad that your mother and you are happier now. How does your mom feel about the WTBTS these days?+

Surreptitious, I know you were just joking but in reality I do envy my sweetheart being able to just shower, shave and dress for work. I have to pull my hair up and put on make up because I work with the public and they expect me to look presentable. Men don't need makeup to look beautiful.

Older women don't need viagra, they can function just fine without it. Sometimes their mates need it though. You know, I was thinking, do you really see that many 75 year old men with 25 year old women? Old men generally have to have pretty big bank accounts to "bag" very young women. Do you think Hugh Hefner would have five young girlfriends living with him if he lived on Social Security retirement benefits in a one bedroom senior apartment?

My brother died last night

my brother turned 21 on september 24th, a month later the doctor told him that his leukimia had returned and he had a 10% chance of surviving.

ten days before he died he spent four days at my house.

he had already made up his mind that he wasnt going to take blood.

Dear Doodle,

When I was 17 and my oldest brother was 22 he died in a one vehicle accident. I remember how shocking and painful it was and I still miss him. I wish there were something I could say or do to take away your unspeakable pain. Sadly there really isn't anything that can undo this terrible pain. It does always help when people care though. Even if only to keep you from feeling completely isolated. I hope you have a good network of in person friends to help you through this.

It's cliche but it's true: time will ease the shock and the pain does lessen. When it hurts the worst please remember this. It doesn't help now but it does offer hope even if only in a small way.

Yes, you have to be at least 28 to go ten years younger and 33 to go 15 years younger right?

It wouldn't matter to me if my mate was 14.5 years younger or older. It's the person that he is that matters. Just have a little fun with the myth.

My boyfriend is a couple of years older. If I dated much younger I'd be in jail I think.

In case you ever feel blue over the increasing character lines and gravity, don't sweat it. Not all men are caught up in the idea that women should look like an 18 year old Playboy centerfold. Good for you, SNS. See, there are at least two of us here on JWD who take apart the myth that only men attract younger mates.My sweetheart/best friend is 30. Heather

Got outta hospital today

just wanted to say thanks for the pms, i'll spend more time online in the near future.

i went into hospital early tuesday morning, had surgery wednesday and had to have a flamin pipe stook up through my gum travelling into the back of my nose.

not nice lol, they had sewn it into my gum but they took it and the stitches out this morning so it was only 2 days, the other stitches will disolve.

Owwww....sounds painful. Hate to hear you are suffering so. Hope they at least gave you some strong pain killers to take over where the morphine left off. I never liked morphine after surgery. Dilaudid was the best at killing pain, but it made me like a junkie on the nod. What was wrong with you if I may be so bold to ask? What caused the need for the infernal tube?
