women should go back to the kitchen
by never a jw ini found on another thread a quote from awake 1967 aug 22,page 27-28. it's from an article where the wt proves that women should acquiesce to their husbands.
within the article i found something that suggests more intellectual dishonesty from the wt writers.. that it is in the best interests of both.
sexes for man to take the lead is also supported.

Find the right mate and communication isn't an issue. Find the right mate and power never is an issue. Things happen peacefully and naturally between to equal adults. For more challenging problems, effort to come to solutions will be a project of love.

Something I learned from my jw/ ex husband: this headship/submissive thing is a front for extreme laziness when it comes to communication and cooperative problem solving for the men. If wives are "yesmen", husbands never have to make an effort to work things out with their wives on any given problem, including childrearing.

One thing about this site that bothers me
by keyser soze inthe constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

I agree, Scully. It very much has bothered me when I see people with serious mental illness reproved or disfellowshipped for "conduct unbecoming of a christian". What mental health professional would tell family and friends not to be supportive to a loved some suffering with mental illness? This is one of the big things that helped me to see how bogus this organization is. It is dangerous for elders with no degrees in mental health to be dealing out judgment and punishment to the mentally ill.

The world has a warped idea of what is valuable. Every job has value. There is a person for each kind of job.

I always hear, work smart. If you make 100 an hour washing windows, it's more sensible than working for $20, doing that job you need a degree for, if you enjoy it and you pay your quarterlies. Nothing wrong with humble work.

Suggestions for car buying
by FlyingHighNow inif you were a lady and you were 55 and had $5,000 or less to spend on a used car, what would buy?
top concerns: good mpg; reliable; in not having major issues like ball joints breaking, timing belts breaking, etc.
not too expensive to maintain.

I have the funds now. Any additional thoughts and ideas are sought and welcomed. I am doing this car search with no man or vehicle to get around with.
