DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY MEDICAL ADVICE IN THIS THREAD. Go see a mental health specialist.
Except of course the advice to take this up with your doctor or medical team. You can, however, benefit from reading about the experiences of others.
obviously i'm having ex cult issues, family still in and a wife that's all kokoo for cocopuffs as well as our marriage isn't good.
i would like to leave her, she has never been the kind of wife i wanted.
anyway the stress is getting to be to much, thinking about things all the time and its effecting my work as well as otherthings.

All anti-depressants did for me was cause me to sleep far too much, gain weight and some other more personal symptoms. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know if you are clinically depressed or not. As just a person listening to you, you sound more stressed and angst ridden than depressed, which can feel pretty horrible. Some people do well with anti-depressants. You'd have to speak to your health care team about it all to know for sure. I never realized how much anxiety gets mistaken for depression though, until I went through therapy to teach me how to put things in perspective. These days, I rarely feel "depressed". Usually I am afraid of something, when those feelings come on.
Sadness is normal during a marriage break up. Sadness is not depression. Everyone who is healthy feels sad during times of loss. One of the things a good therapist will do is to help you begin to identify your different emotions and to get proper perspective.
There are natural things such as specific herbs that can help, too. I always asked my doctor about them or brought in info for the doctor to get his opinion.

I'd try the anti-anxiety approach first. A lot of us former jws have anxiety issues that feel like depression. Therapy and anxiety medication as needed has helped me more than any anti-depressant ever did.
this was one of the things that first got me thinking.
i noticed how in books like "draw close to jehovah" they paint god as a loving, warm, just god who does not desire any to die.
i could not love him at all, let alone with my whole heart.
It is insulting for anybody to suggest that an intelligent 21st century person ought to take it seriously.
I sure wouldn't suggest that anyone take the books as being penned by anyone other than man. On the other hand, there is a lot of wisdom in the book, aside from the horror stories and it is an interesting read.

Of course we all know you can cherry-pick texts to make the bible say anything you want.
Christians who believe that God is exclusive and murderous need to explain those scriptures. They cannot reconcile them with the exclusive, murderous god some of their churches teach.
while i'm glad i found this site, it has also crumbled to bits everything i've believed in my whole life.
i feel like the certainty, magic and wonder has gone out of my life.
this has left a huge hole in my soul.
abbasgreta, I've sent you a PM.

I'm not Christian. I find it interesting that the scriptures I sited show the opposite of the God in the OP.
I don't know how many Christians believe that God is exclusive and murderous. I do know that significant amounts do not believe that.
Those entities, real or imagined do not deserve my love or worship.
Exactly. That's how you can tell they are made up by abusive people, to control other people.

"If I can't have you, no one will"
Spoken by a human, an indicator of psychopathy.
Spoken by God, an expression of "loyal love".
BUTB, you could benefit from reading this book, written by an ex JW:

Only wack religions or people seriously believe God or Jesus would do this kind of thing. I'm not a person who believes the Bible was penned by God.
This is from my JWN profile:
Please measure your god against this scripture:
''He that does not love has not come to know God because God is love.'' 1 John 4:8 ******
While doing that keep in mind 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 .*****
If God is love then: 4 Love is patient,v love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.w 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,x it is not easily angered,y it keeps no record of wrongs.z 6 Love does not delight in evila but rejoices with the truth.b 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.c
8 Love never fails.

FlyingHighNow: Regarding the phrase "If grace is true why God will destroy no-one". During a sermon a couple of weeks ago our vicar said "Jesus came to save the world, so today he would be planning to save around 8 billion people." ...the love and grace of God expressed through this one sentence shot through me like a lightning bolt.
I understand. I was a natural universalist as a young child, even. I recall sitting in the KH thinking, "I don't understand, not really, this need to destroy so many people. "
