I haven't signed I here in a while. I have been enjoying John Cedars channel on you tube. I caught Sasha and Sherry. My JW sister just died the 9th of August. Her husband moved to be with their son. He had Chris erase all JW things from his tablet. He's 78. They had been shunning us the past 10 years. Now I've been able to speak with him on the phone. I'm thinking he might like hearing your experience.

I'm just catching this sad news. Wow was she the ever living granny of JWD/JWN?
The one comfort I can take from this is that she has wished to leave this earth for years now, saying she was tired and ready to go. She had a very strong faith in the hereafter. I do, too, though mine is more vague than hers was. I know she is sparkling somewhere, feeling very loved and missed by us all.

After 52 years a Watchtower slave 9/11 gave me the push I needed to get out.
by new boy ini turned in my letter of disassociation on september 18, 2001 but it was 9/11 that showed me what the witnesses really feel about human lives and the future wished for.. i was in limbo after my wife of 27 years left me on july 30, 2001. she knew i wasn't buying the jw program anymore.
she told me she come back to me when "i got my head straighten out about god and the church".. so for 40 days i was in limbo.
i stopped going to meetings.

This is a happy result from that terrible day. Did you and your wife manage to find a bridge back to each other?

The music that moves you....
by FlyingHighNow inonce when i was profoundly sad for too many days, my brother in law sent us a mix tape.
he named each song after a person in our family.
this is the one he named heather.

My friend John, a member here, or at least he was, shared this beautifully dark and moving song with me one night when I was deeply sad. The singer songwriter Nick Drake died quite young from an over dose of anti depressants (at 26.) The video contains footage from family movies when Nick was a child. Read about Nick here.

Do you have / admire Charisma?
by The Rebel in"charisma is a certain quality of an individual personality by virtue of which the person is set apart from ordinary people and treated as exceptional".
as a kid i was afraid of such charisma, as it was usually the quality i noticed elders, head masters, and parents had to exercise with unloving authority over me.. but now i think about it "charisma" doesn't need be only for people with authority.
" charisma" is something even we can have?

You do realize that the wrapping on products can serve to attract (as in "magnetic") consumer's attention, right?
Yes of course. It's a natural phenomenon. A lot of people that have it don't know they have it. I think you are saying that a person may be magnetic, but magnetic only means magnetic, the true essence of the person is something you find as you get to know the person.

Yes I have. I nearly choked on my tea when I read the following..
That doesn't surprise me.
You said:
"This whole thread sounds very self-indulgent."
That's why I said, "ou haven't read the thread." And I still say you haven't truly read, as in read and comprehended what you read, the thread if you think the "whole thread" is very self indulgent. It would be great to see your answers to the questions posed by the OP. -

Sales people, actors, people in marketing, motivational speakers, some clergyman, singers, musicians, comedians, most of them have charisma or magnetism. It isn't an accomplishment, it's a quality a person has or doesn't have. It's a good quality to have if you work in certain fields like teaching or the ones mentioned above.

I was suggesting that charisma is an attractive quality that "dresses up" your message but at the end of the day it is the substance of the message that is important and we should focus on the substance of the message and not be distracted by a speaker's charisma lest we swallow a figurative turd because of being distracted by the shiny wrapping that is charisma.
I've never thought of charisma as a message, but more of a kind of magnetic quality.
