I swear, my whole family missed that one. They are telling me, to this day, that it never changed. They have no idea where I get my information. *sigh
Sure glad you got out Funky!

if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!
But, if we are (for the first time ever) in the "loop" ahead of time, we may finally have their nards in a vise!!!Wouldn't that be nice? I can picture bethelites frantically running around Bethel searching the closets for forgotten skeletons.
That is a wonderful mental image. Thanks for the early christmas present.
welcome my daughter !!!
gusgus1 -----who i just found on lady lee's sad post !!!
( they are related by marriage) -& my daughter was telling me she loved robin also.
Welcome gusgus1!!
Mouthy, I didn't know that. I'm sorry.
before i left the org, i decided to start doing my personal bible reading in a translation other than the nwt.
my mother seemed bothered by this, wanting to know why i didn't want to use the nwt, describing why she greatly preferred it to other translations, and generally adopting a worried look whenever i mentioned the topic.
i talked to her this morning and she turned the conversation into a q&a session on a bible i was looking for in a local bookstore.
What is up with my Mom? I gather it has to do with JWs being sold on the idea that the NWT is the most accurate, God-honoring translation on the face of the earth, but why the big upset over using other versions for study?
Because only they have the true version of the bible. Every other version is wrong. If you use another bible, you may see things that you should not. (ok, you should, but they feel as if you should not)
i'm new to this site and forum so i'm not sure i'm in the right place.
my sister married a j.w.
and now they have a baby.
Hi BigSis, I wanted to welcome you here. I wish I had some cure all for this. All I can really say is, don't be too confrontational. Find some things to make her question them herself. You can ask, do they really teach......, and see what she says.
I'm not sure what question will do it for her. There are many good topics here. Pick a few, and learn what they really teach. Then ask her if it is true.
i was browsing around the jw-media.org site in response to another poster and suddenly found parts of the site funny - sad, but funny.
baptism.
this act symbolizes one's dedication to god and is taken by those of responsible age who have made an informed decision...organization.
Marriage mates with different religions are encouraged to treat each other with tolerance and respect. Children should be given the opportunity to learn about the religious views of both parents.
Sure they can learn about the other parents relgious veiws, but then be belittled, or insulted right afterwards.I think they left that part out by accident.
i grew up in a "divided household" and i was wondering how many of you had similar experiences to mine.. 1. i was always viewed as fatherless child as a kid.
i wasn't, i had a very involved father, however he was an unbeliever.. 2. i always felt the my decisions in life ultimately meant that i was chosing one parent over the other.
going to college i chose dad over mom.
I know what you mean about feeling like you were choosing one parent over the other. My mom converted when I was 13. All of us kids went with her.
I wish I left while my father was still alive. I felt like I betrayed him by going with mom. I know what you mean about worrying about your dad. I did too, for a long time.
interesting article from today's national post:.

We eat together every night. Some times I fix the plates, some times I put bowls on the table. The kids all wait until I sit down, and then we eat. Even if we have things planned, we will eat later, just so we can all eat together. No TV, but some times I will have music playing in the backround.
i have my fathers strange brownish/reddish curly hair, his cheeks his eyebrows and his jawline.
i have my mothers face shape and eyes, i think.
i also have my mother's figure (pleasantly plump!).
I look like my mom, but the personality of my dad.
I have his temper, his high blood pressure, his eyes. I have my mom's hips, round face, and driving skills. (which is a good thing)
got a phone call from my son-in-law ron about an hour or so ago.
we haven't had a very good conversation for quite awhile.
