I was always told not to donate to the red cross. They take blood donations, and that there alone proved that it was wrong to contribute to them.

Can JWs donate to the Red Cross?
by marsal in.
i do remember that as a jw, i was not allowed to donate to the salvation army because technically it is a church, but i don't remember anything about the red cross.. if jws are not allowed to do so, why not?
as far as i know, the red cross is not a faith-based organization.. marianne

Do you vote now?
by sass_my_frass indo you think it matters?
how long did it take for you to start voting?
was it liberating?.

I've always voted. My dad was never a witness, and was a vet. So I voted just to respect him. Now I do it for me. (hope that made sense)

We went, and kept going back week after week. We now have more friends that call us up to do things, then we ever did in the 20+ years I was in the org. And they're friends who aren't looking for dirt on you to rat you out. They really don't care what you do, and are happy with you being yourself.
That's the weird thing about going to church. Now we are still new at it, and all, but they seem to truely car. One day my suburan broke down, and we didn't go to church because I was working on the truck. After chruch they stopped to see if anyone was sick. I said no, just trying to get her to run right. They stayed for a bit in case i needed a hand. My children are asked over other kids houses to play. Now everyone there knows how I feel, but they let their kids play with mine. We all know if I were still in, no witness kid could pla with mine because of how I feel.

JW says they're told to report molestation to the police?
by thom injust got this email from a jw about an hour ago: .
"i just went to an anti-jw site.
i was surprised to learn that we cover up child molesters, especially since it was announced that we should report child abuse accusations to the police.

Are you saying that it has been announced or written by the WTBTS that it SHOULD be reported? How long has that been going on? Has something changed?
When the report from Dateline was aired, we were told not to watch it. (To this day, I wish I did) Then the following Thrusday we were informed that the report aired was wrong. Brother ------ said that any reports that were given, were to be turned into the police. That's where they lied on us. We report, always have, always will. We need to look out for those in need. Those hurting the sheep like ones, will be removed. They will be arrested, and charges will be brought.
I'm not sure when the Dateline story ran, but that's when it was announced at my kh.

FMW - What church are you attending? I've found the Disciples of Christ interesting, but haven't attended yet. I'm wondering what others are discovering in their travels.
My one neighbor asked us to their church. It was the Disciples of Christ also. We went in blue jeans and nice shirts. (so don't want suits and dresses again) Anyway, they were so nice to us. No one teased any of my kids, and the preacher came up and said hello, are you new to the area, etc. I said, I'm not sure if I believe in Christ, in god, or anything. She said fine, just come back, and you will always be welcomed. Not one word of discouragement at all. We've been going for a month and half now. No one has ever tried to make us feel inferior, or unwelcome. In fact, my teenagers want to go back, which they never did at the kh. I still don't know if it's for us, but it was sure nice to sing the hymns from when I was little. The gang, (my kids) still find it weird to be welcomed like that. They are waiting for the trap to come. Sure hope it doesn't for their sake, but it's a shame anyone would worry about that. (i'm sure you all know what I mean)

As a young JW, I was told to pray silently 'in the head', and remember to keep the lips still - Satan would then not be able to hear OR lip read!
I thought I was the only one. I remember thinking, if I pray out loud, satan will know what I need help with, he'll make it harder, so I wont ever, ever pray outloud.

How does my Dress Look?
by whyamihere ini am going to my cousins wedding this sunday.
i am really upset because since the past few years our best friend forever friendship really has went down hill.
i have no clue.
-

I love the dress.
As far as things between your best friend, I went thru a very similar thing with my best bud. She thought I was moving away from her, so she started to act different. Like to protect herself. We finally talked about it, and now we laugh about being such good friends, but we were afraid to talk to each other. Hope things look up for you two.

I remember when our new assembly building was being built. It was made so we could have bigger halls for all of the newly resurrected ones. Also a teaching house for the new scrolls. Plus, what is five hours a week, when we have forever to look forward to.

Called the information desk again about the UN
by skyman ini have called many times in the past.
this time i was calling for a sister that wanted to know the truth from the society.
the brother from the information desk said they did join but realy they were tricked.

Just ask her why the WTS condemns other churches for doing the exact same thing. ; I recall a WT article where they rail on other churches for affiliating themselves with the UN, and the only way a church can "affiliate" itself with the UN is as an NGO.
I need to find that article. I have a lot of the publications, so I am going to start digging.
It is impossible for the WTS to have been "tricked and deceived"... they were fulfilling their obligations as spelled out in the paperwork
I understand, but she wont.
