  Anybody who thinks they could permit gay marriage without totally destroying their organisation is living in a fantasy world

  Therefore are JW's actually homophobic? If permitting gay marriage would indeed destroy their organisation, then their fear is actually well founded. If it's well-founded and not irrational, then it's not a phobia. Hatred doesn't always equal phobia.

  with the newly released homophobic video by the wts, it gets clearer that those people can't stop shooting themselves in the foot.

  they are already under examination and de facto trial by the australian committee; more and more people and officials in western democracies inquire into their abusive tactics and put them under the microscope, and what do they do?

  they release a video which confirms those worries.

  To me being Phobic about something, you have to have an irrational fear of it to the point that it is interupting your daily activities. It used to be that to be called intolerant, phobic or bigoted, you had to actually do something mean or harmful to someone else or be behaving irrationally.

  The situation now is such that expressing reserve for any aspect of a minority group will result in a person being verbally tarred and feathered. And not just by the members of that group either. John Cleese says it well:

  My mother can go on hour long rants about how disgusting gays are. She does this in front of non jw's too and I used to tell her how shocked they were by what she said (you could see it in their faces although she never noticed) but my mother thinks she's giving a great witness by her ranting homophobia! I guess in a way she is... An anti witness!

  I used to get the same from my JW mother. However, I have to say that I believe much of her dislike was based on the fact that gays are usually impervious to feminine wiles.. :-)

  New Anti Gay Cartoon Video not available in German

  the lesson 22 video or better called anti gay video went viral.. there is another thread that main dutch media covered it in their articles.. i wanted to write to one of the biggest swiss newspapers about it.

  that newspaper also covered the controversy about the "meeting" cartoon, where the message is made that if jw children don't listen at the meetings they might get killed finally.. then i realized that it is not available in german.. it is available in so many other languages, like guarani (never heard of that language), but german is missing.. are they afraid to offer it in german?

  do they expect too much controversy in germany?.

  So back to the "people can change" thing. Cutting to the nitty-gritty, the WT are stating that you can make yourself like something if you try hard enough? Or that a homosexual guy can force himself to be turned on by women? Or a lesbian lass can get the hots for George Clooney if she puts her mind to it?

  Nothing has really changed, there are no surprises here. Witnesses have always been obsessed about sex one way or another. So the video is no surprise either. Notice how they lump everything on "it's what Jehovah wants" in an attempt to distance themselves from accusations of bigotry. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's hateful but it's certainly manipulative.

  A pedal organ in our KH..attendants at assemblies wore a long chevron that stated "attendant" - servants wore one that said "servant" - 3 hour breaks between afternoon and evening sessions - huge cafeteria tents. It goes on and on.

  when did it also branch over to sinners that were struggling with an issue that relapsed on multiple occasions?

  DF'ing was well in vogue by the time I was outed back in the early 70's. It was mainly invoked for sexual offences. Little mention was made back then of apostasy, that didn't figure until the early 80's when Ray Franz got the chop. After that, I was regarded as being a sort of "nice" disfellowshipee because I hadn't been booted for apostasy. To be fair, I hadn't come across the word before the RF saga and assumed it meant that one was pretending to be an apostle. Weird...
