If it wasn't for Independence day, Americans would still be driving on the correct side of the road.

It takes a good imagination to be a JDub
by Sour Grapes inat the regional convention, the speaker said that jehovah is our best friend.
so let's see...if i need a ride to the doctor's office can i call on my best friend to give me a ride to the office?
when i wake up in the morning and tell my best friend jehovah, "good morning, how are you?

When I wake up in the morning and tell my best friend Jehovah, "Good morning, how are you?", he never answers my question.
Wooo...you've never read your Watchtower on the subject! tut tut... BTW, no telling jokes in your prayers either.
WT 15 March, 86:
When individuals have the opportunity to speak to kings or rulers of this world, they usually do so respectfully and with dignity, highly appreciating the privilege. Should we be less respectful and appreciative when speaking to "the living God and the King to time indefinite"? (Jeremiah 10:10) Of course not. Thus, such expressions as, "Good afternoon, Jehovah" or, "We want to talk to you, Jehovah" are out of place in prayer, as are conversational remarks such as, "How are you today?" "Give our love to Jesus," or, "Have a nice day."—Compare Ecclesiastes 5:1, 2.
But then, the WT of June 1, 85 had previously stated:
Questions
From Readers
·Are there things that we should avoid saying when we pray to Jehovah?
Yes, there are. We should avoid saying things in our prayers that sound overly familiar and suggest to others (in public prayers) that we are being disrespectful. Such expressions as "Good afternoon, Jehovah" and "Give our love to Jesus" are not fitting, nor are humorous comments or even jokes in our prayers.

Did you wait for something special to happen?
by stillin ini pretty much fell apart for about two years while i was looking at the religion through new eyes.
i prayed my heart out for two years, begging jehovah to clear a certain thing up that the elders and the organization had perpetuated.
this was supposed to be his spirit-led organization so getting things right in answer to possibly just one person's heartfelt prayers should be an easy task for the sovereign of the universe.

Not for me. I'd just gone along with it for most of my life, convinced it was the truth. When I realised it wasn't true I felt only a sense of relief and freedom. I didn't enjoy being a JW one little bit.

Banners for London Protest
by Farmer Jim1 inhi folks, i’m attending the london protest at the excel convention in august and am making some banners.
i’m aiming for short but memorable sentences that will stick in jws minds and also make them laugh a little at their own organisation.. my best so far is ‘this is not a protest, it’s an overlapping protest’.
has anyone got any ideas for more?.

Bloody hell. I avoided looking at this clip for a while. In the end I was glad I did. But it's so real and true to life that it made me cringe. It's OK for me , I've been long gone and no JW family around anymore. But for younger people who are trying to get out - well, my heart really goes out to them.

How do you feel you have progressed ?
by stuckinarut2 inin the months or years since leaving the organization, how do you think you have progressed as a person?.
(or if you have regressed too i guess?).
what aspects of personal development are you happy with?.

Just had to find my own sense of morality as opposed to that as presented by the WTBTS.
Cult followers and drug addicts have one thing in common in particular: Their maturation and personal growth are suspended while they are partaking.
Ex's and leavers take a while to catch up.

Musical Chairs in Bristol England = £1 million sterling!
by The Fall Guy inthe congregation shuffle rolls on in bristol england, and a cool £1million is to be made for watchtower britain.. bristol - hengrove has been disbanded as of may 2018 and is now merged into one of the prime real estate parts of the city in an area called clifton, with bristol-redland congregation of jw's.
the hall is an old victorian building, bought and paid for by redland since the late 1940's, although since then, bristol has seen expansion up until the 1990's to about 12 plus congregations in about 7 kingdom halls, and then reduced to 5 kingdom halls and 10 congregations.
redland has always stood alone with one congregation in it's hall.
