Punkofnice: There does seem to be a tendency for persons who are not directly affected to take up a cause on behalf of a minority to which they do not actually belong.
It's been my experience that some folk who aspire to political correctness can be the most vociferous in their insults to those who may have reservations about what really constitutes equality, and they are often the most likely to be the ones who would hang a -phobic or -ist label on someone who does not agree 100% with whatever cause they happen to be championing at the time.
We're all entitled to our opinions. But being being totally convinced that our / your cause is just and right doesn't make it OK to trample underfoot those who disagree, as though the Crusades are being re-enacted all over again.

A Tired Child is Better than a Dead Child
by snugglebunny inincredibly, fred franz once announced at a district convention: "yesterday a sister approached me and said, brother franz, why do we have to keep our children up so late just so they can attend the meetings?
i responded sister ***, would you rather have a tired child or a dead child?".
*cue rapturous applause*.

Statement in today's WT
by stillin inparagraph 14.
"the majority if unmarried youths who lose their virginity say that they regret what they did.".
where do they get this stuff?.

I think that in the US the term "youths" applies to both sexes whereas in the UK, "youths" are regarded as generally being male.
And, no, my only regret is being engaged for 4 years before finally discovering the joys of rumpy pumpy.

List of Prominent JW Urban Legends...
by Tuesday inhey folks,.
i'm wondering if you all could help me with my next video that i want to put up in the next couple of days (though i'm hoping for tonight), i want to come up with a list of the most prominent urban legends surrounding jws and then refute them whatever they may be.. i'm thinking there's the urban legend about the question on jeopardy that said the nwt was the most accurate would be a good one.
that one stems from an online powerpoint presentation named theological jeopardy and a book which was written comparing six different translations of the bible.

"in WW2 the lions in the London Zoo ate straw, so you see its perfectly reasonable that animals will be vegetarian in the paradise"

"Blood in Wall's ice cream" rumour, vultures hovering over London and Nat King Cole going out in field service, shortly before he died puffing on 60 ciggies a day.. Mickey Spillane baptised and, finally and best of all, the demonic accompaniment to the Ketchup song!

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...
by titch ingreetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

How about this:
Back in 1968, my PO dad recounted to his flock how he'd had a long conversation with a work colleague. The colleague had asked him what he would do on Jan 1st, 1976, if armageddon hadn't occurred by then. This is what he said:
"Give me a year either way. If armageddon hasn't arrived by the end of 1976, I shall go and buy a pack of Woodbines (UK ciggies) and smoke the lot alongside you".
wow.

We did the countdown starting in 1966. Our CO worked out that we would cover our territory just 9 more times before 1975. There was also the matter of us all bearing blood guilt if we didn't get the word out and our householders became a part of the "slain of Jehovah".
He'd kill them and it was all our fault!

Songs celebrating leaving the faith? Not being a puppet, mind controlled, living life, etc etc
by aley63 ini am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.
all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".
